You would totally use this spell to kill Azure drake/Gadgetzan right? Without spell power, it's only 25% chance of not killing it while wasting two mana and 1 overload.
The only way I see this card played is in Face Shaman, where they run every single dmg spells and only slab them on face, btw double doomhammer.
What a shitty card... You just can't relay on this to remove a 4+ health minion, if you fail you lose the game right there. I don't know why Blizzard keeps adding RNG to the poor Shaman.
It seems a balanced card respect to the old shaman shots, as usual I think that this card (like many others RNG) needs to consider a plan B for the worst case and how much you can gat from the best case. This is not trivial.
Just to be sure, the possible effect of the card are
3 damage at 50% or 6 damage at 50%
and not 3, 4, 5, 6 dmg at 25% each, correct?
If it was 3 or 6 damage it would say 3 or 6 damage. It's 3, 4, 5, or 6 damage each equally likely.
As a Shaman player, I'm excited about this card. Viable spell with low overload cost. Very nice. At worst it's Frostbolt damage. At worst!
This is true, but if you are looking at worst case, it's lightning bolt damage for one more mana :/
Indeed. However, with 75% chance to land more damage then Lightning Bolt, the 1 additional mana is worth it IMO.
Imagine Lightning Bolt can deal 2-4 damage at 1 mana and 1 overload. You want to kill an Earthen Ring Farseer. That extra 1 damage is useless to you but if you roll low and not kill it, you've just wasted the spell. Also don't tell me you can roll 33% and kill a Azure Drake, that ain't professional.
Two mana for three damage is perfectly fine. Overload 1 is easy to handle and buys a pretty substantial ceiling upgrade for times when you have to or can afford to gamble a bit.
To all the rng drama queens, the waah waah over every single card is getting pretty darn old at this point. Especially if you don't even evaluate the card correctly.

Not sure I understand what you're saying. If you are talking about Crackle taking down an Azure Drake (basically dealing 4 damage) you've got 75% chance to succeed. Otherwise I'm not sure what you meant.
So it's either a frostbolt or up to a fireball for 2 mana. Sounds cool. You still have a high chance to deal at least 4 damage with this card. Which is the range most cards fall into. Anything outside of that will probably be hexed.
He means that you propably wouldnt play lightning bolt if the card would be 2-4 damage instead of just straight forward 3 damage.
But the thing is if you want compare lightning bolt to this card lightning bolt should be 2-5 damage, which whould be insane and everyone would run new ligh. bolt insteed of old one.
It was bad enough that lightning storm was a 1 point RNG difference. This has 4 different outcomes and 90% of the time you'll just play for it's worst case. I wouldn't doubt that 1% of the time you'll get that "i need a high roll to win" moment and hit it, but all the times you don't get it will suck.

A good card if you have any presence, so you can mop up if it goes wrong, or just doesn't go quite right enough. Might make Spellpower Shaman a thing but I doubt it, there's just no good examples of spellpower really working in a mid-range deck, though it's a certain boon to a possible Miracle Malygos, but then does Shaman have the card draw to base a whole deck around a single Legendary draw?
Another angle is that this is another good/playable Overload card, so more potential buffing for Unbound Elemental, which already gets some play. What I'd really like to see is an Overload-related Mech minion, so we have something else to buff with this effect. Maybe a Battlecry that buffs for every Overload card played that turn, or even has health equal to all the overload mana accrued that turn.

Oh a creature that heals you everytime you cast an overload spell for 4*amount of overload
Hmmm i like it, but if im not getting either a heal or card draw as a new shaman card im going to be reaaally sad...cmon blizzard, Earthliving weapon, 2 mana, give a friendly character +2 attack this turn, your hero gains health equal to the damage done by that character...not that hard!
To be honest I like playing Shaman and my heart was crushed every single time a Shaman card is revealed. =(
I love Shaman and while I agree that the Shaman cards revealed so far don't seem to fit in the current top tier Shaman decks, they do offer tools to build new decks that could become top tier in a couple of months. That is exciting to me.

Also this card will deal 6 on a Flame Imp and do 4 on a Chillwind Yeti.

New card idea - Flip a coin: if you win put a coin in your hand
