I can understand that a potential 4/3 for 2 is strong but a 4/3 for 3 is just too weak. They should have given a +1 stat somewhere to make it a balanced nerf.
I love how they still won't touch Barnes, but somehow Flametongue Totem is the problem? They're obviously targeting even shaman in wild, but Big Priest still has the highest played population on wild. Cheating out 8-10 mana minions on turn 4 or 3 with a coin is still ok though. Mulligan win rate when Barnes in hand is 80.3%, but let's nerf Flametongue Totem.
This guy gets it! As I said in the original nerf thread, I really hope Barnes to 6 mana and resurrect to 4 mana are the next nerfs! I am happy they think of wild too (like when naga seawitch was nerfed).
EDIT: to the people complaining about Genn and Baku, how would you nerf them? Genuine question
No, he don't. Because people look at the AVERAGE WINRATE TOO, and right now, Big Priest is TIER 2 IN WILD. Not that barnes does not deserve a nerf, but WILD EVEN SHAMAN is around 70-72% winrate. Big priest is not even in the same ballpark as even shaman.
Not bothered to be honest. Even Shaman was super good in Wild, and will continue to be. Just a little change of direction needed I reckon. I've never played the deck as I lack the necessary Legendaries to make it viable. But I've played against it enough.
And moaning about Big Priest? Pah..... Its Tier 2 at best. The only change needed is to umph Barnes up to 5 Mana. Just a reminder, Barnes was shit tier until Big Priest came along. A Nerf to 5 mana would make him shit Tier once more.
The totem deserved to cost 3 mana, but I doubt this will even tickle Even Shaman in Wild.
Actually, I changed my mind. After a few games of Even Shaman, I just realized the sheer damage output an early totem can represent. This might be more impactful than I originally thought, even in Wild.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
Big Priest might have "suboptimal" win-rate but still needs to be teched against to beat it, and do you know why it doesnt have that high win rate? because even shaman (they 70% WR you just mentioned) is flooding the wild ladder and an easy devolve + hex = RIP priest rez pool.
So now if less shammys are queuing, big priest will come out and play. Barnes is a retarded high roll card that can win you the game as easy as turn 3 with a coin, I am not complaining about the archetype I am just saying it should be delayed just like the Avianna treatment, bumping her to 10 mana made a huge difference on wild ladder. And the same with naga seawitch
So final thoughts yes Barnes should be 6 mana, and while we are at it Eternal Servitude and Resurrect can also receive a slight mana bump too but its not that necessary.
Heh, invested dust heavily in this deck, since it seemed interesting, and it really was, disappointing, especially considering the deck wasn't even that strong, it was good, sure, but in no way it was OP(I'm speaking only for standard, since I play it only) Well, now without much dust I guess it's braindead aggro time, sad day tbh.
Looks like a nerf that's mostly targeted at Wild but honestly I don't think it will make Even Shaman that much less opressive in Wild. At some point they will have to address at least Thing from Below as well. Considering Barnes is still intact, I suspect there will be another round of balance changes for Wild some time after the next rotation.

That's not exactly what this is, though. The stats you get from this can be used right away by another minion, almost like charge. Also, when you trade that minion away yet ANOTHER minion gains those stats, so this could also be a 6/3, 8/3, etc.
On the other hand, this is just a 0/3 when you are able to attack it when it's not protected.
I don't think what this minion does can be expressed in stats, but I do know it was amazing/ insane at 2 mana, and I suspect it is still good at 3.
It seems like this thread should be broken into separate threads for wild and standard. The wild players find even shaman oppressive, while in standard this nerf is going to take shaman down to near 0% play rate.

4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔
Finally a shaman card nerf. We can’t allow even shaman deck playrate exceed 0.0002%.

I understand the even thing but to compensate the nerf this should become a 0/4 at lest

Shaman gets shafted again
