I feel like in the effort that it takes to reduce this card to a reasonable cost it should have charge instead of rush, at least give Paladin a sort of all purpose card instead of just a minion beatstick and they kinda missed that opportunity with a restriction like this. And I know you can potentially get this really cheap with Lens but the probability of that working most of the time is way too unrealistic.
I dunno we will have to wait and see what Paladin gets after this maybe there will be some cards that synergize with this that'll help reduce it's cost then I can see why they gave it rush, but not holding my breath here.
How tf do you know that? Wait for the rest of the expansion
It's mostly because cards seem good when you can add them to many decks. Prince Keleseth for example. Sure there is a drawback but it's a really good card. Made it into many different types of decks. This card seems like it's a 1 deck card. It sucks when you can only play it with 1 deck. Why make cards that are good with only 1 deck? How long is this going to be an interesting card or be fun to play? Not more than 1 month. Just a meme card like Galvadon. Hearthstone has a problem with printing cards that require you to build 1 exact deck around it. It's because they feel the need to create something that hasn't been seen before. I'd be happier with an 8 or 12 mana something like a 4/3 that has the same effects.
I know that there can be cards released that will make this card more attractive, but again your stuck to playing those exact cards.
Been playing since GvG. Always buy the pre releases. That's htf I know.
I mean this card is a 7/5 at the end of the day. Even if you fulfill the condition to get it down to a reasonable cost. This card isnt gonna win you the game any more than Like a Tirion Fordring or The Lich King. Even if you casted an on-curve spell every turn from 1 it would still put you at 1+2+3+4+5+6 = 4 mana 7/5 with divine shield, rush, lifesteal on turn 7. Great it gets Vilespined or Silenced or something next turn. and in turn you had to play a very sub par deck. Reminds me a Mulchmuncher but probably even worse
paladin is such a minion based class that I don't see this being any good.
You need to discount basically 20 mana reliably each match to make this a strong enough play to put into your deck. Great minion but I dont see the big mana spells for paladin doing any good.
Even at 30 mana, playing Holy Wrath wouldn't otk the opponent due to it being discounted by one. On the topic of Holy Wrath though. If there is one thing that gets me hyped for Hearthstone in 2018, it's 5 year old memes. Can't wait to see people playing old cards again!
And some people still don't know the real reason Hearthstone keeps getting more and more stale, faster each time.
It should still do 30 damage. The cost I believe is still the base cost until it is in your hand. Similar to how Molten Giant works in that deck. Even if you are at 1 hp the giant you pull from Holy Wrath does 25
Unfortunately I have to rate this as bad. But let's face it, historically, paladins are known for getting some of the most powerful legendary card ever printed. Having an expansion give them a bad one for a change is a nice change of pace.
I mean, if you think about it, the HOly Wrath plan is not that bad. All you need is Baleful Banker, Shirvallah, and Holy Wrath (that is if it works like Molten Giant where the cost reduction only applies after you drew it so you still get the full 25 damage from Holy Wrath)
We still hAve Lynessa and a bunch of very relevant buff spells. Add Crystology and a few 1-attack minions (like Stonehill, Kangor, etc.) and then add Scalehides and Countesss Ashmore and you get a control/healing Paladin with buffs that has a 25-damage combo for when your deck is empty. And if that doesn't work, you can always just Lynessa + Banker for double big boi. Hell, that might even be good enough of a back up plan against something like Druid or Odd Warrior if you just run Skulking Geist to kill their removal.
NOt saying it'S gonna be top tier, but BUrst/control Paladin might have a lega to stand on.
If you ask me, this is a sign that paladins will get many expensive spells* this expansion. Whether they will be around buffing, board developing or AoEs, we should wait and see.
It will also be good in Control Paladin because a couple of Equality+Consecrations and a single Lay on Hands brings it down to 5 mana. The deck would need a new win condition to be good though.
50 damage combo guarantee.
0 cost Tiger -> Augmented Elekk -> x2 Baleful Banker (you still have 3 mana left so may be) -> Zola -> Tiger
10 mana 23/20 (14/10 has rush)
Next turn x2 Holy Wrath (you have 4 tiger in deck and you draw 1 so still 3 left) -> EZ 50 Damage
The 25 damage version is much easier:
0 cost Tiger -> Baleful Banker -> Holy Wrath
7 mana 25 damage.
Otk is back boi!
I'm expecting the spirit card to read something like: "After you cast a spell put a copy of it into your hand."
I want to try this card out with The Last Kaleidosaur. Maybe it could be pretty effective with Sound the Bells! and Spikeridged Steed
When I die, I want to go peacefully and in my sleep like my Grandpa. Not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car.
Paladin bois right now
Blizz, can i play class other than paladin?
Way too slow, I mean c'mon - Zilliax + Blessing of Kings or double Sound the Bells! has almost the same impact.
Maybe this will get people to play prismatic lens more? Just a thought....
Holy Wrath
Prismatic prism and any paladin secret. No need to reduce the absurd cost.

Druid and Odd Warrior are begging people to play this
Prismatic Lens could also get you a better card for a low cost. Like Tirion Fordring

Holy Wrath Paladin vs. discardlock

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
Might see play

It's going to be very good in Buff Paladin, if that deck itself is any good. Sound the Bells!, Blessing of Kings and Spikeridged Steed will make this minion cheap in no time. Plus it enables Corpsetaker.
It will also be good in Control Paladin because a couple of Equality+Consecrations and a single Lay on Hands brings it down to 5 mana. The deck would need a new win condition to be good though.
