Cenarius seems like an awesome card in token Druid, yet no one runs him. Is it his cost that makes him not useful? +2/2 seems so insane, plus a 5/8 body isn’t too shabby.
Im hesitant to craft him as I dont want to spend my dust on something outdated, but man it looks like it has awesome potential, especially with the ramping ability of Druid. Would he be a good craft for the long term? I have a bunch of Druid cards, so he’s the last classic class legendary left for me to craft.
It's actually a 5/9 even. I love this card, it was my first legendary, but I don't play it, because I only play druid sometimes in casual. Yet I was already wondering the same thing, there are a few lists on HSReplay that include him, but not many.
i played token druid to legend so many times. the game is over on turn 4 or 5. what would you ever put a 9 cost card in a deck like that for to begin with no matter what the effect? you win with tokens on the mulligan and matchup. Did you just start playing?
Not worth the extra 7 mana over Power of the Wild. I used him when I started building the deck, it's a card I love so I wanted to get it worked, but I ended up cutting him out, too slow. I believe I have seen him be used not so long ago in a Token Druid on Dreamhack or something, but not really impactful. It just comes down too late, annoying but Hearthstone has long ago left the standards of vanilla, Cenarius doesn't stand a chance..
not worth the mana doesnt even apply here. the card doesnt apply to a token deck period.
Cause he costs 9 mana and token druid doesn't need him, you have power of the wild, savage roar and branching paths that give you pretty much the same buff and are much cheaper to the point you can use them 2x on the same turn or even some combination of the 3 of them together and if you play like 5 games of token druid you would realize that the health of the tokens is actually irrelevant, you only care about their attack and as I said the other buffs do the same thing but they're a million times better cause they cost less and buff the important part of it.

You have to be kidding... Did you read at least what the card does?
The effect is great for Token decks but unfortunately a lot of the mana cost is fueled into the Stats (5/8) which is contradictory to Token style decks (you don't want to play big minions just cheap and many minions).
If it was a 4 mana 1/2 it would SURE see play imo.

I do. He's great and most people don't expect him...
Cenarius got nerfed too early, in an era of Heartstone when Druid was supposd to boost mana and overwhelm the opponents with high drops, pre-nerf Innervate etc.
Today, I think his 8-mana self would be more reasonable, especially as a class legendary.

No, the new token druid is different. It plays a combo of spells, like 8 mana i dont rmeember.
Cenarius used to be in almost every Druid deck back in the first year of Hearthstone but it has been power creeped out of the game. Cenarius has fair vanilla value which just isn't good enough for a 9 drop these days.
I think the problem is his cost. You can't build board and buff it the same turn. You must have the board on your pervious turn and hope that your opponent will not be able to clear it with AoE or minion trades (which rarely happens).

All cards are balanced, but some cards are more balanced than others.
way too slow for him to actually be feasible. Maybe he'll see the light of play some day :p

The present Standard token Druid is pretty different from the pre witchwood iterations. And probably also from wild variations (at least the ones I played around Frozen Throne). The present token Druid doesn't run cheap minions, but basically only spells for token generation ( whispering woods , Spreading Plague ), Violet Teacher , card draw (even 2 Ultimate Infestation ), removal and burst damage ( Savage Roar ). With 4 mana (turn 3 or 4), you start to put stuff on the board, but the game is far from over.
Cenarius is actually in the highest winrate Token Druid deck despite 590 games sample size. It has a 60% w-r when played which is the 6th Highest in the deck. Ive been playing Cenarius and hes never felt a liability for me.

Any thoughts?

I was wondering why they dont run Strongshell Scavenger, that has an awesome synergy with Spreading Plage
that makes sense

So, no low stat minions

Cenarius does at turn 9 what you want to happen at turn 6-7.
Also, at turn 9 your board is very likely to have undergone some wipes, which prevent Cenarius from providing a lethal.

Agreed, but a 1/2 Cenarious would be pitiful.
