This is soooo unplayable bad...and actually im glad, discard should remain a gimmicky deck since its luck reliant af and should nerver end up being competetive...
At least with new mechanic no one will get more than 1 copy of this crap...
This card is being under estimated, like mistress of pain, which is a viable card right now in wild demon deck. Sustain for mid-range warlock is incredibly valuable.
I'm not getting the impression that may posters have tried playing much of the discard warlock quest. As alphalegend91 mentioned, the problem with that archetype is being able to gain life. This will help that out a bit and we don't want a card that's unbalanced. Many are saying it the card isn't good because it will be discarded or removed. If we're worried about it being discarded, that implies it's a card we want. If a minion warrants removal, that's not a downside of the minion.

Except for the part where you missed that this needs to be played in a discard-centric deck.

And to expand on this: Discard Warlock plays a lot of high-threat minions by default. Doomguard, Lakkari Felhound, etc. A good player will know how to bait removal to make way for something like this.
Also, Lana'thel will almost certainly be at 5 or more attack by the time you want to play her. If the quest is already done? 7/6 at the least.
I do agree that Discardlock doesn't have enough support to work yet. However, we still 9 cards left to see, and the dev team is aware of the issues discarding has. I'll bide my time.

You don't need discard centric deck for this to be viable, more like cards that have a good enough effect to warrant a discard cost (like Soulfire, which is ran in Warlock for a long time as both burst and control tool). While I agree discard is a bad mechanic that's not rewarding enough currently, people like you are blind to the card's actual power level.
This community is so bad at rating cards because they keep thinking what this single card would when thrown into the current meta and doesn't consider any new, unrevealed or old, never-played cards at all. (See Mysterious Challenger who was trashed on because people think being forced to put bad cards like secrets into your deck make him unviable, or hell, even fucking caverns below because people think it's too slow without thinking what they could make to support the quest in the same sets.)
5/6 is the base line for 5 mana. So you have to discard 4 cards just to get this cards stats on par with a Pit Fighter, then your opponent has to actually let it live or trade into it with minions for you to recieve any health gain. You have to do this all btw, without discarding this card from your hand. lol Do the designers even play their own game? Jesus christ.

No, people like you envision dream-scenarios. For a card to see play in HS constructed, it needs to be efficient at what it is intended for - at all times.
For this card to be reasonably effective you need the following: 1) DON'T DISCARD IT. 2) Discard at least 4 cards. 3) Have 1+2 succeed AND keep it alive for a turn to actually generate any additional value over Pitfighter.
It requires THREE very specific steps to generate any value whatsoever. That is way more requirement than even Circle of Healing needs to see play. Plus it costs 5(!) mana, which is quite an investment for a card without any boardimpact whatsoever. Further, control doesn't want to discard. AT ALL. Even if it's just soulfire, you WILL discard key pieces or even this card. It will clunk your hand up, since you don't want to play it with bad stats so it's unusable in faster decks as well. It's just a terrible design and that is all there is to it. Just like the quest, it wants to be in a deck that doesn't exist and can't exist unless they add even more discard-crap that returns those cards in some way.
If there are additional cards that make it good, so be it. At the moment we have to judge the card in the order Blizzard releases them.
Actually you can discard this card and bring it back off of the Cruel Dinomancer deathrattle, however there is quite a bit of RNG involved if you have discarded 5 or 6 cards until that point. Also its attack can increase while on the board, or even if you discarded it, since the attack is just a running count of the discards, so its not as bad as you think, still not good, but not completely terrible.

unplayable 0/10
Gonna be a pretty feels bad moment discarding this and your second Doomguard.
Will be nice with sunfury protector or defender of argus. But dang, I hope we don't have to go another expansion with no demons.
Was it that good on testing that it had to be Legendary?

This card has some nice potential synergy with the Warlock quest

does it combo with Shadowflame ?
I got the quest, let's see if it can become viable after exapnsion
I could see running this in my Kazakus Warlock deck for the health but I'm not going to craft it and its going to hard from me not to dust it.
oh look, another useless warlock legendary! you don't say!
