the sole reason i play wild is so i dont have to meet standard meta, still there are alot of murlocadins and quest rogues not playing a single wild card.
Some people pulled the not so bright move of disenchanting all their wild cards, so they need to play with standard decks, others are newer players wanting to explore wild and others are people whose Hearthstone is their first tcg so they understimate the mode "it's old so it must be bad" others jsut want a challenge, and that pretty much sums the tfour types of players playing standard decks in wild.
Simple example from my experience: if I am rank 8 on standard and rank 15 on wild, and I have only a standard deck for class that I got quest for, and I don't find it good enough for 8th rank, I'll play wild with it.

Maybe you could find this discussion interesting (or parts of it, at least).

Are you sure they didn't run Wild cards? No Old Murk Eye or Murlock Knight? No Gang Up on the Rogue? Whenever I see those decks they include these cards...
yeah sometimes these players have 1 or 2 wild cards but most of the time they don't
Standard players also get tired playing against same decks day by day. So going on wild not having any wild cards simply brings diversity in game process.

They have only Standart card, have a high rank in standard and just want some easy wins against lower rank player.
Often you don't see the entire deck, there are some standard decks that work well in wild with just a few minor adjustments.
