Also the fact that some good cards in this deck will get removed (Twilight Guardian and Wyrmrest Agent) from standart format soon, so i pretty much have to switch to an other deck soon :/...
I just signed up here to ask u guys what do you think is a good deck for the current meta and will help me to reach my rank 5 goal because some of u defenitly have way more experience on HS than me. :)
I dont wanna play Pirate warrior because it feels like every deck out there tries to couter it right now like all the Reno decks, Taunt warrior or whatever but please prove me wrong if i am ;). Ive been watching lots of HS pro player streams lately but i think to play in Legend is veeery different compared to rank 15-5 so i dont think some deck wich is hard to precalculate is good for me.
In my collection i have all expansion Legendaries (exept from Sir Finley, The Kurator and Rafaan) also some good Standart Legendarys (Ragnaros, Alexstraza, Deathwing sadly missing out Sylvanas). From MSoG i have Kun the forgotten King, Krul the unchained, Barto and Furorion, so not the very best ones as u can tell :P
I really enjoy playing Priest but many people say that he is not that good compared to Warlock for example... Im also sitting on 2,5k dust atm so i could craft one or two legendaries. ;)
Playing a Renodeck seems pretty interesting to me but im missing out on key cards for it (Leeroy and Jaraxxus for Renolock f.e.)
Im also wondering wich legendary to craft from my dust because im a free-to-play player in general even if i already spent money for the adventures :P
If there is anything wrong with my laguage please dont witchhunt me, im 18 yo from Germany and trying my best. :P
I really like to hear your opinion and hope for some help from the better Players among yourselfes :)
I prefer control decks, so Reno is good, also Jade decks seem quite fun. I'm gonna try with Midrange Jade Shaman today, although a bit different in order to cut through the meta.
Aya is a good card but can be replaced. The point of the meta is to play the unexpected. I had great results with my previous version of Renolock (Leeroy + Rafaam). Nobody expects the thief.
If you can't get past rank 13 with dragon priest, then a different deck is not going to solve your problem unfortunately. It might sound cliché or rude, but you actually just need to play better. Watching streamers, particularly those who comment on why they make the plays that they do, is a good start. Other than that you just need to practice, maybe record your games and look for misplays after each game.
Decks that are good in the meta, you can just check tempostorms meta snapshot to get a fairly good idea. Easy to pilot decks thare are also good I would say are: aggro and midrange shaman, jade druid, pirate warrior, dragon warrior and dragon priest.
First: I'm not offended more thankfull for your answer :) I'm not a bad player imo (sitting on 1500 constructed Wins) but my main problem is that i am facing too many "better" decks than mine and i just dont see how to get above 10 if every 2nd matchup is against a golden Renolock with Leeroy Jaraxxus etc. :/ I'm also struggeling in mirror matchups because my oponent just seems to have the better plays :/ If you look at my decklist you will also see thats a comparable cheap Drangon Priest without any real finishers.
Most top decks here are nearly Legend material, but it requires both luck and skill. I'm in a fairly similar position to yours, but now I've picked up Arcanaro's Dragon Warrior. If you have the cards, try it out, it's easier and it's not as brainless as pure aggro decks. It is a Smorc deck though, so keep that in mind.
That decklist seems perfectly fine, you have tremendeous value in Netherspite Historians and Drakonid Operatives ergo you don't need heavier drops than you have.
If you're struggling in the mirror match, then that's a very clear marker that you're actually playing worse than your opponent. They seem to have better plays more often than you because they're planning out their turns better and/or predicts your plays better than you predict theirs.
That being said, if you face a large amount of unfavourable matchups, switching decks is probably a good idea.
Okay, thank you :) Its not like i dont win against other Dragonpriests but my winrate against them is at 40% :/ The main reason i made this thread was to ask for other decks BECAUSE im struggeling with that one. Whats ur rank and do you have any specific ideas for me? :)
"Smorc" means going face as opposed to trading minions (for board control).
And the matchup against Renolock is not in favor of Dragon Priest. That has not a lot to do with having a bunch of legendaries. Renolock is simply hard to Play for Dragonpriest. Do not overextend but try to put pressure on him. The longer the game goes, the smaller your chances to win the game will become. It is very difficult to outvalue a Renolock, in particular with your decklist.
The Decklist you use might not be very expensive, but it is more teched against aggro (with Priest of the Feast and two Shadow Word: Pain ). The late game is managed by netherspite historian and Drakonid Operative, in particular in combination with Brann Bronzebeard (so you get 2 Cards). If you want to have better matchups against control, you can for example tech in Entomb . But if you mainly meet aggro, the decklist is probably better as it is now. Sjow's Dragonpriest is surely rank 5 material (probably even Legend, if piloted correctly and adjusted to the meta).
Edit: Against other Priests it is actually helpful to have Entomb as well. I personally teched in a Pint-Size Potion to reduce the attack of bloody 4 attack minions and either kill them with Book Wyrm / Shadow Word: Painor take them with Cabal Shadow Priest (yes, I used even one of those and it worked).
Okay thanks for explaining it to me :) I played an entomb in my Dragon decks before but i threw them out for the Drakoid Agents ;) Also thank you for telling me my main problem with dragon priest. My games with it: My games go to >10 cards left every time, mirror matches end in fatigue... Am i trading too much i thougt with a deck like this i thought it was about board controll :D
Edit: just read ur edit and Pint-Size-Potion is a great idea thank you :))
Without board control you can't win with Dragon Priest. Dragon Priest doesn't have a bursty win condition like fireballs or Leeroy. In the mirror, the win condition can be early game tempo (when you have a good start and bring the opponent down to finish him with your minions in the midgame/lategame), or it is a valuegame (make better trades; try to get value from your AoE) which ends when one side suddenly has many more minions on board and will inevitably cause lethal.
Ysera can be a win condition in the mirror, when the opponent doesn't have entomb or played it already. Most Dragon Priests can only cope with her by entomb or minion trading. And she has a lot of health for trading.
Currently 14 and climbing on win streak (my highest was rank 10). I don't play Dragon Priest, but from my perspective the thing that annoys me the most are big minions I can't really clear early enough, especially hp buffed Twilight Guardian or Wyrmrest Agent, and hard removals.
Maybe you should play more carefully. It's usually a bad idea to waste hard removals fast, and instead trade (like keeping Entomb for valuable targets etc.), or go face. Always think about your safety - if you can reliably hide behing big taunts, or have health advantage, go face. You're not playing a tempo deck, and you don't have mass removals like Renolocks do. What I really hate is Brann Bronzebeard into Drakonid Operative, as it might give my opponent a huge advantage fast.
BTW - a quick question. What OTHER decks are you playing? From my experience I can tell, that it's very healthy to use other decks to improve your main, as you learn how those other decks play. For example, you know you can safely put a 8-cost minion vs Pirate Warrior, as they don't run hard removals, or as Miracle Rogue you can conceal Leeroy Jenkins, because your opponent ran out of AoE (like counting Renolock removals used in the game etc.). Maybe that's your problem?
I'm also playing a Demon Discolock a hand buff paladin and a Jade midrange shamen. I know that one of my Problems is that i dont know my enemie can deal with my board in a certain situation. Maybe i should just start learning the class cards of the other charakters and play around their removals. Im doing this on the obv ones like holy nova swipe etc. but i dont think far enought to predict a sylvanas shadowflame or stuff like this.
You can try the deck in my signature. It's cheap deck so i don't think that you will need to craft anything. If you won't get a good winrate please let me know.
Okay, thank you :) Its not like i dont win against other Dragonpriests but my winrate against them is at 40% :/ The main reason i made this thread was to ask for other decks BECAUSE im struggeling with that one. Whats ur rank and do you have any specific ideas for me? :)
40% in the mirror is very low, that shouldn't happen if you play at least as good as your opponents, given that the sample size of games is large enough. If you're struggling with dragon priest, then miracle rogue or renolock are both good decks against it. Tbh, no deck is really that bad against dragon priest. And dragon priest isn't really that prevalant in the meta anyway, so it shouldn't really be a problem either way. What you need is probably a deck that's good against aggro, because that's what you're gonna be facing for the most part on your way to rank 5.
I haven't really had time to play this season, I'm sitting at rank 9 at the moment. Last season I played to legend with miracle rogue and I'm still using that mixed with a little jade druid :)
You should be able to hit legend with that list. What you probably aren't doing is thinking about the gamestates you need to reach to win games, and instead just mindlessly playing card after card. Work out when you need to play for value and when you need to tempo... this is crucial. Value each of the cards you draw and understand how important they are for the particular matchup you are in and gain and understanding for when in the game you will need to play those cards.
I don't think you understand how you win most of your games, as priest generally doesn't have a solid win condition. I would analyse the games you play and work out when you are losing and things you could have done differently.
Also identify cards that aren't doing much for you.. you know that card thats always dead in your hand... research how to use this card better or identify cards that can replace it.

Hmmm, is really Dragon Priest not that prevalent in the meta? Tbh (EU servers) I'm facing mostly Dragon Priests and Midrange Shamans. I might be a lucky guy, but I've face Pirate Warrior maybe 20 times in the last month. In this season it was like 3-4 times max :O

Well I have played something like 40 games this season, so I can't say that I have much of a sample size, but I've faced maybe 10% dragon priest this season. I'd say that 30-40% of my games have been against either aggro shaman or pirate warrior. But it might just be variance.

Hi all of you out there :)
I am a casual HS Player but want to hit rank 5 this or next Season. ( highest rank so far was 10).
I am mainly (if this is a word :P) playing Dragon Priest atm (this one: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/686958-s33-sjows-dragon-priest-mean-streets-of-gadgetzan) but i cant get above rank 13. :/
