What decks were you encountering that caused the most problems for you? I ran a very similar deck up to rank 4 and had a lot of difficulty with the Zoo deck. Admittedly, I did not run a cleave, which would have helped against those guys a fair bit.
The version I run is the same except:
- Harrison, Cleave, BGH
+ Faceless, Slam, Defender of Argus (occasionally swapping in Sylvanas over DoA)
Zoo was one of the tougher decks I admit. You basically just have to hope you can kill everything pointed at you till you get midgame. I probably lost most of the Zoo matchups. I had a high win % vs Control Decks and other aggro decks if I could dodge the perfect draw.
The extra Slam isn't a bad choice I went in and out with the Slam. Faceless is ok...I found it staying in my hand more than I wanted. Defender of Augus I was disappointed with because usually I had no creature out or it would make one of my win conditions a taunt..only to be Black Knighted. I think Shieldmasta might be a better choice than DoA. Earlier on in ranks 8ish I ran 2 Shieldmastas that sometimes wrecked Rogues and other aggro decks. Versus Control it does nothing much however.
As for a replacement for Baron...the closest thing is Abomination. It is not a bad card and has seen play in some versions. However, I just didn't like that it could get silenced and with Baron I knew I was going to do the 2 damage for sure.
Only suggestion I'll make is to play with the meta.
Like Cleave is good against weenie aggro, and bad against Druid Ramp.
So if you're playing and you see a lot of weenie aggro, you put in Cleave (just before you get put up against Druid Ramp). Or if you play a lot of Druid Ramp, you take Cleave out (just before you get put against weenie aggro.)
Problem solved. XD
Re: "anything I could play besides Baron Geddon" - Cleave, or Abomination, or Slam, or whatever. Second Brawl, especially if you run Sylvanas Windrunner, or even if not. A lot of people play around one Brawl, but don't expect two. Even if an opponent knows you run two Brawl (and it does show up in the meta sometimes), it's hard to play around two Brawl. Multiple Brawl in hand is pretty bad, so just make sure your deck is generally pushy, like I'm not sure I'd want to run double Brawl and Ysera. If you don't have double Brawl, just use whatever, maybe even a Chillwind Yeti.

Here is the deck I played in Season 4 to Rank 2. I Figure 3 of the slots are interchangeable with other cards (Harrison Jones, Big Game Hunter, Cleave) and have been over the season. Cards that filled those 3 slots over the Season were Spellbreaker, Sylvanas Windrunner, The Black Knight and a second Slam. I am beginning to think Brawl is on the chopping block, Ysera might be too.
I am willing to answer any questions or take suggestions.
Thanks!
Reznor,
