I don’t think he’ll initially be a success. Too inconsistent as compared to other warlock decks. However I see him being much better after the rotation. Like a lot of year of the raven ideas, they will be much more effective when LK and KC power cards aren’t available.
Everyone seems to be hating on HIr'eek because only two warlock handbuff cards have been revealed at this point. People. Have you seriously forgotten what they did with warrior in boomsday? They introduced pretty much an entirely new archetype for the class and made it into a relatively stable new aspect. Do you really think that Hir'eek and the totem are the only two handbuff cards? I'm betting dollars to donuts that at least two or three other cards in the warlock kit this time around are related to hand buffing. Like seriously, you think they'd just release a legendary with almost zero support? You guys really are underestimating all this in my opinion. Please, have an open mind to it and the other cards in the expansion.
I think most people are hating on Hir'eek, the Bat because they recognize it for the mediocre card that he is. Dragoncaller Alanna is a great card to compare it to but there's a reason she is far superior to Hir'eek.
The problem with Hir'eek is you have to have him in your hand and he has to be the recipient of the hand buffs for him to gain value. You have to change your playstyle to cater to Hir'eek's mechanic. Alanna is different. With Alanna, she doesn't have to be in your hand to gain power. The mage can consistently make the best plays and it doesn't matter because she'll gain power regardless. This is why Hir'eek is a mediocre, maybe even a bad card by comparison. He just requires too much gimmicky bullsh*t on your end to make him worth while. At least with what we know for now.
Now, a deck+hand buff warlock deck may rise that can really utilize Hir'eek. My guess would be that it would have to be potent enough without him though to see competitive play and having him in it, where the buffs land on him is just that much better. TBH though, even if warlocks get more support, I have my doubts that such a deck will go very high in the meta. Maybe Tier 3 or so. Hand buffs can be powerful but building an entire deck around the mechanic has not had the best track record in the past, and that's what would need to happen for Hir'eek to work.

Zoolock doesn't want or need an 8 mana card, especially not one that needs support cards.
Dazzle and dominate your foes as the Jewelcrafter!
Because people already see the insanity that's going to unleash in Wild and they're mad lol. Just wait until I double Spirit of the Bat, followed by next turn dropping Deathspeaker on my Spirit of the Bat, then Grim Patron into Defile. All this while Hir'eek, the Bat, Doppelgangster, Saronite Chain Gang and Doubling Imp are all in my hand. People are trying to say it's trash so no one finds out the true potential. It happens every expac lol
-It's better to have something you don't need, than to need something you don't have
"I'm betting dollars to donuts"
damnit i can only trust you now
caca
Handbuff? Really? When has handbuff not sucked?
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.

A 9-mana legendary that requires a ton of support and gives you nothing but a vanilla board? Sounds great
Ah yes, a six-card combo that does nothing but put strong vanilla minions in your hand.
For that much setup, you should be winning the game, like all those druid decks
Here is my take on a Token/Handbuff Warlock:
