I've been a priest player since I've started playing but lately I'm just really sad about the current state of the class. I feel like I'm forced to play dragons and I don't want to but I've tried others decks and they all are below average in the meta. Am I the only one having this feeling ?
I'm a pretty dedicated priest player, and I play control priest because dragons are boring. I would say that I do OK, there lots of aggro for me to prey on. I don't see any reason why I shouldn't reach my goal of rank 5 this season. Dragons would probably win more games though, I think they have a bit more favorable matchups against midrange druid and warrior than control priest does.
I'm currently trying to make Reno work but seems it doesn't want to haha. Do you have a link to you control deck ? I've tried a few and highest WR was like 45/50%.
Depends how high up the ladder you are. I've been working on a very fun hyperaggro priest which has taken me to r5 or so, but I doubt it can go much higher while having a 0% winrate vs control warriors. Let me know if you're interested!
Dragon Priest is more consistent, as compared to CP. But it can be really boring playing it, despite the fact that it could get more wins (at least against aggro), and it's more of a Tier 2 deck (current meta). It depends what you're looking for, having fun or more consisent wins/games.
With the addition Reno and people constantly combating aggro, I'd say priest is getting better. Priest isn't strictly bad, it is just that the state of the game was unfavorable against priest. Let's hope things will get better for shaman, rogue and priest.

IMO CP is easily as good as Dragon Priest, having said that I believe Priest in general isn't too good right now. It kinda feels like we've been left out of this adventure. Entomb is REALLY greedy and Excavated Evil has too many drawbacks to be worth the 1 extra dmg. But hey, Priest players should know, we never got into this class for easy wins lol. Priest has always been the black sheep and I know if that will ever change. Besides, I think there's a chance that there might be a really good non-dragon priest deck that just hasn't been discovered yet. Let's give it some more time.

And Priest's just not good enough at that. Dragon priest is better in the sense that he has very cool drops turn 1 and 2, and a powerful buff that is Velen's choice.
Actually Shadowboxer is a decent card, but it dies too easily and not only on Knife Juggler and stuff, but also on 2 damages + 1 by hero power, mortal coil, token, etc.
Try it, i think the true nature of priest is manipulating the board wuth cards like cabal and sgadow madness and priest never had a better time doing so.

A great legendary? Rofl, i prefer to run Mind Control instead of this card… Justicar is OK for Priest, but not as good as in Control Warrior. I disagree again: cards like Shadow Madness are fine, that's true. But does your opponent really care? If you're behind in tempo, he doesn't care at all. He will play his Piloted Shredder and continue to crush you…
Priests need a legit 2-drop class card (aside from Wyrmrest Agent in DP). Just like back then when they introduced Dark Cultist, and gave the class a legit 3-drop. That was a good one. Sadly it ain't gonna happen anytime soon. The current decent one(s), is probably Shrinkmeister together with some combos.
If Museum Curator can really work, I really don't mind at all :-)
Eureka, I had a lot of extra time on my hands (sick at home) and finally designed a CP deck that is powerful and winning. So far I'm keeping a steady win rate of +75% on ladder games above Rank 5. I'll do some more tweaking and post the decklist once I've discovered the decks general strengths and weaknesses. It's an exciting time my fellow Priest players, we're gonna be rich!
I think Control Priest does pretty decent, in my opinion, as it's a lot more interesting than Dragon Priest. Certain decks are particularly a pain for both types though, since Priests have no choice but to go into late-game, something which decks like Freeze Mage and Handlock excels in; a Warrior with Gorehowl wrecks us hard too.
What I do wish though is for a class, minion card that draws a card once and has a strong body, since usually it's either you draw a lot some games, or draw too few. And neutral cards with card draw aren't very good in priest at times. Personally I believe we already have 2 good 2-drops, contrary to what people would like to believe, but one is very deck specific and the other only seems to be a benefit against aggro decks.
Truly the only problem Priest have in general is consistency, since most of our removals are situational, and blizz thought it was a neat idea to make 4-attack minions the bane of our existence. We have similarities to Shaman and Rogue-play, where conditions and consequences must be met in order to use our damn cards to its full potential, with the risk of losing tempo.
I'm really curious about the lists people are using because my winrate in Priest in EU is very under 50 (warrior is instaconcede, handlock is semi-instaconcede, secret pally is extremely difficul if you do not have the perfect answers…)
check below for my control priest. I'm now at my best rank ever (2) exclusively playing control priest.
Thanks! I'll give it a try but it looks extremely late. I do not see an extreme value for Jeweled Scarab as a drop 2 so you're deck basically runs… zero t2/t3 so how does it works to counter agro…

Yeah, one of the most ideal situations for Jeweled Scarab is probably a Turn-2 play, then followed by a Turn-3 minion play, such as Dark Cultist. But I often draw this towards mid/late-game, which could be a pretty dead card by then. And it results in minimum board impact. That's sad.

could the 9/13 priest deck from the asian servers make a comeback?
The 9/13 priest deck ? I'm not familiar with it.

You can't rank-up playing typical control priest. I've tried a lot but it's impossible.
Even if you're running a good list, you get rekt by quite every cancer deck currently poisoning the game.
I have to repeat what Firebat said about current Hearthstone: It's just about playing the best minion on curve (turn 2 Shielded Minibot, t3 Muster for Battle, t4 Piloted Shredder, t5Loatheb/Azure Drake/Sludge Belcher, t6 Mysterious Challenger, t7 Dr. Boom, t8 Tirion Fordring).
And Priest's just not good enough at that. Dragon priest is better in the sense that he has very cool drops turn 1 and 2, and a powerful buff that is Velen's choice.

Other drops are decent too, but simply decent.
How could we compare Dark Cultist with Flamewalker ?
In a full tempo no value metagame, a Priest is doomed.
The only solution we have is to get a really unbalanced card.

Why not... be the cancer?
It's just a bit of fun, but I was r4 with this earlier:

Hi
Dont agree at all.
Priest got a good new control card- entomb.
A great legendary- confessor.
And works great with justicar and reno.
