Since the arrival of Entomb, CW became one of the easiest matchups for a Priest - even 50 armor don't pose a problem most of the time as you'll have card and board advantage in like 9 of 10 times. A Priest player can beat a Warrior player in Fatigue quite easily.
Control priest is insanely good versus CW, you should win most of those very easily - if not, you are doing something very wrong.
It was one of it's worst matchups possible and then Entomb fixed the matchup a little bit but still remained bad for Priest imo. Priest doesn't have damage to deal with Warrior's armor and is way to slow, which Warriors benefit extremely.
EDIT: Well this is my experience at least, when I played CW Priest was auto win, when I was playing Priest I struggled a lot, usually matches ended by fatigue with him having 56 armor and 30 hp.
Just fatigue them, and that armour goes away very quickly. Never play into brawl. If they use gorehowl it's a bit tougher but definitely favored for the CP.
I think priest needs buff spells for minions, not something broken like Velen's Chosen though. PW: Tentacles is just too expensive and dumb. It should cost 4 mana.

Bullshit. No control deck out there has a real chance vs C'thun control warr,if you say you do...well you fuckin' lie,no control deck out there pose a threat vs a good CW,NO DECK OUT THERE has a chance vs a semi decent CW draw.

The 1st step towards a better game is firing Mike Donais! We had enough of his "skillful" balances!
Priest shines in control matchups. They just need time to stall during the early game. What about a card like this?
I win the early game except against warriors? Also that's just plain better than shielded minibot and that card was problamatic.
The whole problem with priest is that it's all about being this super greedy anti-control deck, if it had good anti-aggro cards it wouldn't really have any weaknesses.

Okay, I readily admit this was way too powerful; perhaps if she was 1/4 or even just 1/3? That said, there has to be some way or card or concept to help the class. Don't want to go overboard but the status quo in Standard is untenable; and even Wild is a tad underwhelming.

I am playing both deck types a lot and I can assure you, I am right. In 9 of 10 cases, it looks like this in that matchup:
- CW stacks up lots of armor, the beginning is relatively slow being defined by the Warrior playing minions like Armorsmith/C'Thun Cultists and/or Fiery War Axe, to which the Priest counters with Doomsayer, Shadow Word: Pain and sometimes Wild Pyromancer or Cleric --> the start is relatively even, rarely a bit in favor of the Warrior player
- From turn 4/5 on, the Priest starts taking the initiative a bit more by e.g. doing Darkshire Alchemist/Flash Heal plays with Auchenai Soulpriest, what results in the Priest having slightly more stuff on board and therefore starts having card advantage. Both decks could now drop Elise.
- From there up to turn 8/9, the Warrior will start throwing around removals like Bash and even Shield Slams while the Priest can hoard almost all of his and start obtaining card advantage by making more value plays with Auchenai etc, while also using Entomb against cards like Sylvanas occassionally. A smart Priest player won't overextend and therefore making the CW player think about when to use his Brawl - he'll at least one.
These turns are crucial for the Warrior player: If he emerges as the frontrunner and is the player with the card advantage up to that eighth/ninth turn, he will win. But it mostly won't happen, as the Classic Control Warrior has just a few threats which will all be countered by the Priest player, making him lose more and more cards and especially minions in that process.
The C'Thun variant has a big trump card in Emperor Vek'lor - if the Warrior player drops him and the Priest player hasn't accomplished to generate board and card advantage, the Priest player loses from there on, so the C'Thun variant has a bigger chance of actually being on par in these few turns. Otherwise it still looks the same as with Classic CW. Even a C'Thun deck will often see the Priest having one or two Blademasters or Sylvanas or Auchenai or or or to make even more value plays.
- Turn 8 or Turn 9 is the time the Warrior player drops Grommash Hellscream and/or Ysera - his last big minions. If the Priest player has an answer - and he has it with at least one Shadow Word: Death and his second Entomb - then he will cruise to victory. Ysera is a way bigger problem than Grommash though, as Ysera can give him comeback cards, while Grommash is "just" a very good beatstick, which won't be enough to deal with the advantage the Priest has generated so far. Otherwise, Grommash is the signifier of your death: He either rushes you down from low health or sets the match point for C'Thun, who will smash it down hard or respectively Elise Starseeker, if the player runs the Classic variant. But if often happens that the Priest player runs Elise as well (at least I do) which nullifies the advantage of the Warrior here and makes sure that he loses. Shortly said to a Priest player: Entomb Sylvanas and Ysera (or respectively C'Thun), if you can. Try to NOT use it against Vek'lor. Although is has to be said that if the Warrior player drops Vek'lor with Brann, it could look pretty bad, if it stays unanswered. "Luckily", the Priest player didn't need to use his Excavated Evils so far...
- The following turns describe the slow and painful decline and collapse of the Warrior player in 9 of 10 matches. As he has played Justicar already and therefore accomplishes to gain lots of armor every turn, he will reach 25 armor at least. But it won't matter. His last Brawl will clear up to 6 opposing minions, but will be meaningless as the Priest has at least 6 cards in his hand while the Warrior is down to 1 or 2. Elise will provide him with good minions, but he will just be able to topdeck them - not enough to win. As the Warrior draws more cards than the Priest and the Priest has more cards in his deck through Entomb, the Warrior player will enter fatigue faster and have no cards left to play while the Priest rushes him down quickly to end the game and free the Warrior player from his pain.
Control Priest is HIGHLY favoured against every kind of Control Warrior and against the C'Thun variant it is still at least favoured. Your best bet for a Control-ly deck to beat a Priest player as a Warrior is by using Dragon Warrior, as it has the tools to prevail in the early game AND more importantly in the mid-to-late game. Or use Tempo Warrior, which is also really good, as it applies pressure (but it is not a Control deck anymore)
Yet another thought to help Priest reach the later stages of the game while providing a decent body to contribute to the early game. Would combo nicely with Circle of Healing.

Make Priest's emotes even more annoying. More people will instantconcede against Priest, increasing its winrate.
Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
Hey there Hearthstoners,
I saw this Priest thread, so I decided to comment here, instead of making a new one, since I wish to talk about priest aswell.
I don't know, but I'm wondering Blizzard is releasing tips that there is a priest deck undiscovered on the corner.
Even here on the main page it's there in quote from Ben Brodes.
So what do you guys think?
Battlecry: Give the OP two Bananas
Deathrattle: Replace the OP with Ragnaros the Firelord
3.There is already a thread about literally the same question: http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/class-discussion/priest/159414-we-must-find-ben-brodes-undiscovered-quality?page=4#c74
You know, the more I think about it the more I want to see an AE that debuffs minion damage, that'd make apothecary and cyclopean horror better.
How about a 3 mana AE that gives all minions in play -2 damage?

I don't believe, I wrote this long text for some random guy who didn't know the outcome of the matchup too good - take it as a honor :P

About Defender - Nice try!
But, come on, It is class card and can't attack!
Let it be at least 4/7 for 4?
(it is still far from 5/5 taunt for 0)
