Hey folks, this morning I just made a druid deck that I'd love some suggestions on. I was playing around with Nox's tempo rogue deck (http://tinyurl.com/nubblsx), which led to me fooling around with Soul of the Forest, and this was the result.
**edit: am now up to rank 3.
So far have only tested it in about 10 games on ladder; took me from rank 8 to rank 5 pretty quickly. It's very annoying to try to clear the board against this with cards like Soul of the Forest, Harvest Golem, Argent Squire, and Cairne Bloodhoof. The few aggro hunters/warlocks/warriors I played got stomped. Also beat a couple midrange druids, a control warrior, and a hand warlock.
i really like the idea of incorporating soul of the forest, havent seen it outside of arena at all. mark of the wild seems a little clunky to me in this build though since you are the one trying to actively trade with soul of the forest. I would replace it with another faerie dragon to amp up the pressure early enough to make efficient use of soul of the forest in the midgame.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll give it a whirl :]. I mainly played with mark because of the abundance of aggro decks.
I definitely need more data to give you concrete expectations. On my win streak this morning I only played one hand lock, and I played a turn 1 Chillwind Yeti.... It was brutal.
I dont think any druid deck can beat handlock(this one doesn't run black knight either)
Also OP have you considered violet teacher?
I have played with violet teacher in very similar druid decks, but one of the things that felt good about this particular deck, is how compact yet dense your board feels. A harvest golem, defender of argus, and argent squire with soul of the forest up is only 3 minions, but an absolute nightmare to clear and makes AoE super inefficient. I tried to shy away from flooding the board with tokens in this particular deck, though I have seen such decks work in frightening ways. Unleash the hounds is likely the biggest reason I've leaned in this direction.
I don't think any druid can really beat a handlock unless the handlock just has the worst draws (which is rather impossible as the game goes on). Druids just don't have the ability to neutralize the giants. Only option is Naturalize...and that gives them cards. Your deck looks pretty fun. Might try changing my mid range druid to this. Other than single target elimination the druid just has so many answers that its kinda becoming my favorite class.

Now that you say it, Naturalize might actually be a hard counter to Handlock if that troubles you all that much. Handlock will try to have a nearly full hand, so it might be possible that you force him to discard. DIscarding another Giant hurts.

This or maybe I could try to find a way to fit a Big Game Hunter in there. Sylvanas Windrunner may be worth a look as well once I start playing more control.
*update: I'm rank 4 now, am 2-2 overall against hand warlocks. I'm finding that the deck this crushes the most is aggro lock.
I don't even know if Handlock is such a big deal. Handlock matchups are like 1/50 games for me, not really worth counterbuilding for those rare occasions. That being said, I've never made it past rank 8, so there might be more Handlocks at higher ranks, dunno.
Edit: Also, Nimble Mongoose, lol. Was one of my fav card designs when I was a kid xD
I don't really like Hogger, because he's so easy to remove. He was one of the first legendaries I got from packs and I tried to use him ever since, but a 2/2 taunt just ain't much and 4 health on Hogger puts him into the range of many removals. Especially a Druid's Swipe is really annoying.
I just could never find a deck where he fits in, he always traded inefficiently and was not worth the cost. Cairne Bloodhoof and Sylvanas Windrunner are just so much better drops at 6 cost in any imaginable situation. I was trying to ConcealHogger in a Rogue deck to basically have an 8/8 for 6 mana (4/4 + 2x 2/2), but that wasn't worth it because you most likely need that 4/4 to attack.
I tend to concur with karate when it comes to Hogger; I love him conceptually, but he does feel very easy to remove for a 6 drop. I think maybe I'd like him more if he was a 3/5.
Update on my deck verses handlock- I'm midway through rank 3, and I'm 3-3 against them. It isn't a favorable matchup, but you don't play them often, and it is far from unbeatable. When climbing, you need to go into games against them with the understanding that you may not get the draws you need to win in time, and play in the way that offers the highest win percentage- being extremely aggressive. Innervate / coin out threats fast like yeti and druid of the claw. It always feels like a huge win to take a game off your weakest matchup, especially when you seldom que into it.
I plan on trying this deck as soon. It reminds me a lot of a Druid deck I ran early on, although I did more tokens to abuse Soul of the Forest. Your version seems a lot more reliable than mine did, and I anticipate playing it. Think Cenarius would be a decent replacement for Cairne Bloodhoof? I don't have the latter unfortunately.
Thank you for this amazing deck, played it on the ladder today from rank 8 to rank 6. It really crushes aggro most of the time. Soul of the forest on a harvest golem fills the board with a 2/2 and a 2/1 when he dies, argent squires get an upgrade from 1/1 to 2/2, had some hilarious games. Often there was a long pause after I played SotF, the spell is so unused in constructed, people don't know what to think about it.
Glad you enjoyed it :]. It can be pretty funny watching an opponent puzzle out how to clear the board,

Cenarius is a little bit expensive for my taste. IMO the best possible replacement is sylvannas, a yeti, or faceless manipulator. Could be wrong about cenarius though, haven't tried him- let us know how it goes :D
Force of Nature is basically impossible to replace. That card + Savage Roar is a game winner, simple as that. Ancient of Lore can be semi-substituted by a second drake or some other card draw options. But it's also hard to substitute because it helps you keep up steam with late-game carddraw while also getting yet another creature on the field.
For Cairne, a Boulderfist Ogre actually works decent for the same function. Same cost and a PITA to remove in his own right with 7 health.
When do you typically use Soul of the Forest? I rarely want to play it on turn 4 because I usually have Defender of Argus or Swipe. By turn 7 I'd rather play Ancient of Lore. After that I'm either already ahead and don't need the card or I'm behind and the card doesn't give me the swing in tempo I need.
how do you manage the pyroblast mages, or those combos of 15 damage and such, i mean i have the same deck (without cairne) and i get this, the weird thing is that is always when i have the upper hand, i tried the farseers but that doesnt convince me

you could put Cenarius aswell, with all those board comebacks is really easy to get 3 minions buffed

This looks awesome, I've always wanted to play a druid deck, but i feel like you need always a mid-high budget for them to work.
Imma craft some cards and try it.
