His toxins usually have little benefit to me. 2 damage and draw a card are nice. Giving stealth or return to hand are only relevant in specific (usually miracle) situations. if you are playing that type of deck then I guess he's okay but just as a general "must add" card I feel like he's really really weak.
It's sort of that card that can turn back games in your favour. I don't like running conceal because I think there are better cards for malyrogue and miracle rogue out there. However, getting that toxin from xaril which stealths a minion can often win you the game in clutch situations. The rest of the toxin's are quite solid aswell. Drawing for 1 mana is ok. 2 dmg for 1 mana is good. And yes, the card itself might lower the decks' consistency, but also increase its peak of power.
I've found him actually quite good. Although his stats are quite bad for the mana cost, the usage of 1 mana spells in rouge is simply amazing. Combo is huge. Not to mention that all the cards are useful and are essentially other spells in their own right. They've allowed me to win multiple times, damage for lethal, drawing into lethal, concealing something for next turn, bouncing something back to my hand for either more charge or another battle cry. The utility is amazing
auctioneer is only used in a very specific archetype
I would say the opposite is mostly true. I find he isn't used in a very specific few archetypes. He is the main draw engine for most rogue decks. Some will not use him in Deathrattle Rogue and Mill rogue but I see him pretty much everywhere else. Meanwhile Xaril belongs in all these.
That being said i don't have a Xaril so I don't have first hand experience in using him, I just see him in pretty much every rogue deck.
I was worried at first but I actually feel like Rogue is pretty good at the moment. It has some weaknesses but so does every class. I have had a lot of success with C'theno rogue and apparently cold blood rogue is preeeety good. A lot of people have been running it the few tournaments over the past couple of days.
The body is crap, yes, but it's decent enough. But these 1 mana spells are juicy to combo. And this card gives you card advantage, that's the deal.
Althrough i think that he is a bit overhyped, he is strong. And to combo these cards with auctioneer and even with combo-cards is only interresting after Auctioneer is already on the field or you have a 1/1 auctioneer. Still see them as spare parts, and they are stronger than them. And spare parts were always useful as rogue, althrough sadly there was never an competitive mech-deck.
It is a great card that provides quick tempo for long-term winning outcome and board-control combo, which is exactly what Blizz is pushing right now. It is definitely not for aggro or quick-rogue combo in the past.
Rogue is not the top tier right now, but Im sure it is in a better spot than Hunter class, which might be in the worst spot in the future meta.
Xaril is insane. Getting two 1 mana spells that are all pretty powerful is so valuable to any class, but Rogue in particular due to the combo mechanic (as well as the fact that they're the best class to utilize Auctioneer). The only deck I wouldn't play Xaril in is mill Rogue, any other archetype and he's a fantastic addition to the deck.
I'm in the middle of an arena right now with him and he's great there as well. Considering arena is mostly about minion stats, the fact that a 4 mana 3/2 with that effect is good enough says a lot about its power.
Rogue only has two viable archetypes, Miracle and Deathrattle. Xaril is bonkers in both. Often times you'll actually get like 3 or 4 toxins, and they can win games on their own. If you are a rogue player, I cannot recommend him enough.

No. I haven't found a Rogue deck yet I wouldn't/don't use him in. He's a lot like Bloodmage Thalnos; his utility is just mind-boggling.

Nets you two 1 mana cost spells in a class like rogue and you call that weak?
Rogues are generally weak.
It's not card problem, it's class problem
Exceptional synergy with combo (Edwin VanCleef, SI:7 Agent, Eviscerate, Kidnapper), synergy with deathrattle (Well hi, N'Zoth the Corruptor and Unearthed Raptor) and juggles perfectly with Shadowcaster.
I'm baffled anyone would say this card isn't great, let alone entirely dismiss it.
Rogues are weak? Ha Ha. Good one.

I wish Valeera had tentacles for arms
It has been awesome for me so far. I dont regret at all crafting him, the weak body is misguiding, he is quite good imo.

I think it's a very good card, I played it by myself and I really liked it, but, it should have a better body, maybe 3/3 or 4/2 or the toxins cost 0
Maybe... nah nah nah nah
