Let's keep the fun coming back!
This is not a traditional meta deck as such I only modified the original Big Priest Deck for a personal twist.
That being said, this deck is fun RNG, I added Bone Drake and N'Zoth, the Corruptor. With the Kolbolds expansion, adding in Lesser Diamond Spellstone seemed like a viable choice. Also Awaken the Makers seemed like fun so I tossed it in as well making this more of an attrition deck compared to the original Big Priest deck.
Bone Drake has a nice interaction with Barnes and Shadow Essence, and Lesser Diamond Spellstone
N'Zoth, the Corruptor plays nice at the end when your opponent thinks you are out of steam or when you know you have total advantage. Bringing back multipleObsidian Statue. This often nets a concede then and there. With the addition of Lesser Diamond Spellstone you can bring back even more minions late game to help with victory.
Note onLesser Diamond Spellstone: it must be in your hand for the spells to be counted as played/cast so if you mulligan or start with it its not a horrible thing neither is discovering it with Shadow Visions.
Due to N'Zoth, the Corruptor in the deck running Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound is hit or miss, I prefer not to just so he doesn't pull N'Zoth, the Corruptor. This opens the way to another spell to which I chose Mass Dispel(current rendition is not running it but replace Bone Drake for it) it is quite nice for slowing the tempo mid game or paving the way to victory.
Trying to play with Awaken the Makers and turning this into a quest big priest deck. With the number of times you can bring back Obsidian Statue and Bone Drake it's simple enough to get the quest complete though usually later in the game. A late game Amara, Warden of Hope is a useful tool to give the breather if the board state was bad or a way to push further if fatigue was reached.
Up vote if you feel this should be a noteworthy adjustment for the community. Otherwise thanks for stopping and looking.
Deck evolution:
Future of the deck wIth N'Zoth, the Corruptor, Barnes rotating out as well as Shadow Word: Horror this leaves open 4 spots to fill. This means that Pint-Size Potion combo is gone giving 2 more spots. So there is a need to fill another aoe, as well the recursion that is lost, and the creature space.
As such my ideas are:
N'Zoth, the Corruptor -> Cairne Bloodhoof
Barnes -> Greater Healing Potion
Pint-Size Potionx2 -> Twilight's Callx2
Shadow Word: Horrorx2 -> Holy Novax2
I will test these out in the near future.
Solid concept. i get theN'Zoth, the Corruptor addition. My one complaint is that if Barnes hits N'Zoth OR if Shadow Essence hits either Barnes or N'Zoth, you lose a ton of value. N'Zoth needs to be cast to have any value and never summoned from the deck. In this case, I would hard mulligan for N'Zoth BUT since Awaken the Makers is also in hand, we can only mulligan for two cards if we win the toss and Barnes is critical.
Honestly, Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound is SO OP that it's a win condition in itself. My version also has Deathwing and silence. When Barnes or Shadow Essence pull a 1/1 or 5/5 Deathwing or Y'Shaarj, I silence them to 12/12 or 101/10 respectively. Hello. Let the opponent deal with either on their turn, they're coming back.
The one tech card I added for some fun is an Alarm-o-Bot.... Yes, sometimes we draw the big stuff before it can be summoned. Alarm-o-bot gives you a chance to play your big minion early and once its in the spell stone rotation, it makes for some hilarious interactions.
Nothing draws out removal like Alarm-o-bot.
I love Alarm-o-bot fun! I still like to use it in casual perhaps one day I'll mess around with an actual ladder deck with him in it.
You are very correct with your analysis of the N'Zoth issue around Barnes or Shadow Essence. That being said, its not too bad to have him out as Seige_Hart mentioned also, at the 1/1 its sucky but can still be worked with later, as a 5/5 he is a decent body. The work around here is with Ysera, when she spawns a Dream and you ressurect N'zoth late game you can essentially get 2-3 uses from him bringing back a board state multiple times.
This is situational and relies on even more RNG, but it's worth mentioning. Also this was never meant to replace the original Big Priest deck, but rather to give a variation that is fun and viable.
Thank you for your insight and also for looking the deck over, good luck you and your games.
Just made an account just to upvote this for originality and effectiveness of the intended engine combo. Got me from rank 15 to 11 in an hour or so using your build. Mage is going strong this month through combining quest exodia and secret mage cards. I extremely admire how your setup combines the Big Priest with Deathrattle Quest and throwing in a bit of dragon there. I main Big Priest and don't feel like I've lost any power or effectiveness using this build. If anything now the late game is triple as effective and disgusting with fully charged Spellstone + N'Zoth drop of multi Obsidian Statues+Amara ready for use. Above all this is the icing on the cake for fun when it comes to absolutely breaking your opponents moralle and hope for victory with dat triple threat!
I will be on the lookout for your updates on this deck. Keep up the good work.
Many thanks for the praise, it is always fun to get the combos to roll with this deck, and the late game is indeed the best feeling watching a wall of minions come back and quite literally taunt your opponent out of their victory.
I will continue to watch the meta indeed and see how to upgrade and refine the deck, as such if you have run into any repeated issues or hiccups with the deck please let me know so I can look into it as well.
Good luck in your games and as always have fun.
Since i don't have N'Zoth, i will try this deck with Y'Shaarj and post my opinion. But in general it looks cool.
This deck is awesome! I crafted N'Zoth for this and no regret. But i tweaked the deck a bit. After some time i putted back the y'shaarj and it didn't had a bad impact on the draw, it draw n'zoth a few times but 5-7 body on turn 4 is good enough to contest everything. Plus with that much revival you can complete the quest without n'zoth too. The deck looks like this now;
- 2 holy nova -1 mass dispel -1 bone drake / +1 spellstone +1 y'shaarj +1 greater healing potion +1 psychic scream
Honestly, i think spellstone is a cornerstone in this build and should be 2 of them in the deck. Holy nova somewhat did not satisfied me and psychic scream is a must against jade druid in case you couldn't draw good.
Glad you liked the deck, and your adjustments are not bad. Lesser Diamond Spellstone is a great release for any N'Zoth, the Corruptor deck in my opinion. I don't have Psychic Scream yet but I can definatly see its potential over Holy Nova. As for Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound it's good he worked for you, it's still a great card for this deck archetype.
Have fun and good luck in your matches!!
