Short clip of TidesofTime reacting to my deck on Legend Ladder
I Specialize in Tempo Mage. I get legend using almost entirely Tempo Mage decks.
Feel free to ask questions or comment!
Just wanna stop by to thank you for a great deck. I hit legend with this version today. I used a slightly more aggressive list earlier, but the last 2 ranks I used your list.
A couple of things I learned along the way:
For me the timing of the spellbinder against paladin was crucial. I won many games thanks to them giving me big deathrattle taunts. Those +2+6 buffs are amazing :)
Also keeping tol'vir stoneshaper against warrior was great. You almost always get either a tar creeper or a fire fly in time to trigger the divine shield.
I know it's stupid, but is there a way playing this deck without Pyros? It's the only thing I don't have, and I can't craft it atm. Thanks.
Sure, it's possible. But it won't be as strong in some matchups where you want the long-term value of Pyros, but you can swap him for an Igneous Elemental or possible and Arcane Intellect. I would prefer the elemental, because you really want to be able to trigger your elementals. And Igneous Elemental is creating cards for your hand, just like Pyros. Good luck! :)
Ok, thank you so much, mate!
I haven't found much use for the sorceress apprentice. Maybe because I use my mana worm as bait a lot of the time, or to trade with early minions against aggro decks. I've subbed them out with a flame geyser and a volcanic potion.
Also, in a deck with only 2 secrets, is it really necessary to have 2 archanologist? I was thinking of subbing 1 out with either a volatile elemental our or an igneous. This deck works well, just sometimes I get stuck with an archanolist with no secret in my deck when I really need an elemental to start a chain again. One of the reasons I like the flame geyser.
I used a more burn heavy list earlier with flame geysers too, but for me the early minions (apprentices and archanologists) were really important, since the deck often needs to establish a board. If you want to cut any of the two, I would cut one apprentice. I think two archanologist represent so much value, even if you sometimes happen to draw into a secret. I think the deck needs minions that can trade early game, and apprentices and archanologist are among the strongest two drops you can get for mage.
Just my opinion though. :) There are probably some metas where the spells might be better. Always worth experimenting with.
Personally I think replacing it with CS is better
Yea, I like the counter spell, saves me often from a brawl. Sometimes dumb rogues who use the quest after I play a spell ( most won't, but I try anyway, lol)
Hey Butters25, I realized that there have been way lots of midrange hunter and pirate warrior that keeps aiming on my face is there any guide or tips for me to start winning them? I have close to 30% winrate facing against them ?
So I have been playing this deck for the past two days with a couple minor changes. I've been running Counterspell instead of Spellbender, and 1 Volcanic Potion instead of one of the Stoneshapers. I climbed from rank 16 to rank 4 and I'm still on a winstreak. Super funand strategic deck to play. I also have found that Hemet is a pretty nice win condition whenever i need to top deck a fireball or Blazecaller for lethal.
Awesome! I think the architype is really strong, there will always be a couple tech cards depending on the meta. I am glad you are doing well with it!!
It is not the key card of the deck. I would advise card draw to replace it. Either an arcane intellect or harrison jones because of how many weapon classes there are in the meta.
Hi butter25 ! If im losing the board or im having a disadvantage do you think it's a good idea to still play hemet ?
Hey! The best time to use Hemet is when you are ahead on board or in between elemental synergies. So when you are behind its not the best card to change the board state. But it does guarentee good top decks to help with the board state. But the deck plays multiple taunts that really helps against aggro decks.
How is Spellbender better than Counterspell though? What does it counter except for the new Palla 6-mana spell. Don't you see much more brawls in the top ladder. Even if it's more pallys than warriors, I think counterspell covers more ground and spellbender is more of a niche card.
Also 2 Water Elementals seams much stronger than 2 Tolvirs. Water Elli was always op in my opinion. Tolvir is no Elemental, too.
WE doesn't have taunt...
Any replacements for Hemet?
I would go with a firelands portal
I did this, can confirm it works well
Thanks, I do really like Firelands anyway.
