Short clip of TidesofTime reacting to my deck on Legend Ladder
I Specialize in Tempo Mage. I get legend using almost entirely Tempo Mage decks.
Feel free to ask questions or comment!
But anyway control or tempro or whatever mage, except secret mage, are all totally useless for mage. Mage can nothing to do to other classes in late, or even mid/tempo, game. So mage can only go to fast face, and if he unluck and not win to 10 turn, he may successfully leave.
But who knows, may be this deck will change my mind... [no].
PS: Next gaming raven year all classes decks will be deprecated, except WARLOCK, warlock will lose 0 standad cards to his main dominating deck, so warlocks was dominating this year and will be dominating next year as well. Mage will become totally useless.
Just wanted to say that this was my favorite deck for a long time. I used to play it with The Black Knight instead of Pyros
I miss this deck a lot but I havn't been able to make it good in the current meta
How do you live without Jaina in your deck?
Jaina is most useless hero upgrade of all times. Any other hero upgrade of other class is much better than this useless crap. Better to have smth useful. And btw - 9 mana cards is most useless and dangerous for owner, especially for mage, because you cant use anything useful for 1 remaining mana, you just use 9 mana card and die next turn. Particularly Jaina does nothing except a little healing and 3-6 elemental, 3-6 elemental for 9 mana cost CARL, thats suicide. Gl hf. Guldan, and any other hero upgrade, laughs to Jaina's useless face.
Blizzards should do Jaina cost 8 mana and freeze effect for hero skill, then it would be more or less comparable to other hero upgrades. Jaina must freeze its logic, blizzards.
Well when I use Jaina I almost always win so
Can you please tell me if that deck is still viable? Please, give me tips i dont now, iv spend 200 on this T-T
If you don't have Primordial Glyph, use Shimmering Tempest. You'll get another cheap minion to play and a spell added to your hand when it dies.
Another well replacement is Mana Bind, however if you verse too many quests, you can use Counterspell instead.
I didn't have all the cards and so made the following:
### Elemental2
# Class: Mage
# Format: Standard
#
# 2x (1) Fire Fly
# 2x (1) Mana Wyrm
# 2x (2) Arcanologist
# 2x (2) Frostbolt
# 2x (2) Sorcerer's Apprentice
# 1x (3) Counterspell
# 2x (3) Mana Bind
# 1x (3) Mirror Entity
# 2x (3) Tar Creeper
# 2x (4) Fireball
# 2x (4) Steam Surger
# 2x (4) Tol'vir Stoneshaper
# 1x (4) Water Elemental
# 1x (5) Big Game Hunter
# 2x (5) Cabalist's Tome
# 2x (5) Servant of Kalimos
# 2x (12) Arcane Giant

The Cabalist's Tome allows the Arcane Giant to have its cost reduced quickly and gives the mage more spells to play with. Mana bind serves the same function and can give you powerful spells though there is a risk that you may get a garbage spell (poisoned weapon for example)
Your deck is very interesting and enjoyable to play. I do enjoy it.
Please tell me how many matches you played to get where you are in the attached video??
This are my stats (for the moment) of your deck:
GP: 40 W:24 L:16 Highest Streak: 4 Highest Rank:15.2
This deck has only 1 Aoe ... Meteor ... not enough in my opinion because seldomly does the Glyph give me AoE.
Thanks for a reply!
its to increase odds of winning in late game cause drawing a Fire Fly over a Blazecaller or a Fireball is a bit aggravaing
Doesn't two secrets seem a little thin for double Arcanologist? Maybe not since you get a 2/3 body and a draw for 2, but still.
edit: Also, obviously Blazecaller is a high-impact card, but considering it's one of the crazy high amount of good epics that Blizz decided to churn out, I don't have it yet. Replacements?
Blazecaller is effectively a Firelands Portal that always drops a 6/6, so an easy replacement would be to simply add a Firelands portal. You will on average get a weaker result but it's honestly the most appropriate replacement.
Hey Butters, I really like the look of this deck but I can't seem to win a frigging game with it! Lost to quest rogue, hunter, secret mage, murloc pali, element shaman... The only wins I've had at rank 18 have been against badly played silence priest decks. The one time I played hemet looking for a lethal i got tol'vir and servant before I died... maybe just unlucky
The guide would be really appreciated. Do you have any video showing your strats by any chance?
Yeah, I've given up on it. Elemental mage is weak and to get value out of Hemet you need to cut down on 4+ cost cards so you know you'll draw that fireball or blazecaller when you need it, which in turn makes it weaker...
Better to go secret mage, me thinks
Playing this deck with CS instead of Spellbender, Intel in place of Hemet and swapped a Stoneshaper for Flamestrike (Pesky swarm decks) as well as a Volcanic in place of a Fire Fly and its been working pretty well so far.
Quest Rogue and Pirate Warrior are usually a piece of cake. Midrange Hunters and Aggro Druid depends on my draws but I'm really struggling against Quest Hunter and that Value Priest. Any advice you can give?
Maybe the Quest Rogue's I'm playing against are bad but if they ever make the mistake of leaving up one of the usual quest minions i kill it off immediately. Because then they have to draw the other one to finish the Quest. Although, I usually manage to have built up a decent enough board that even if they manage to finish it, i have enough burn and minions on board to finish them off. If they spend turns on Evis or dagger it gives me more time to get out my bigger stuff like Steam Surgers and have them behind Creepers.
That said, the charge combos if they get the Quest off are so obnoxious.
I barely made it to Rank 8 in this season that just passed but there were Quest Warriors everywhere. Just couldn't deal with them.
I'll admit that I got a few cheeky wins off the Counterspell on Quest though (or at least the Prep)
Hey Butters!
First of all thank you for this awesome deck, I'm really enjoying it so far.
But since I don't have Pyros and Hemet, what do you think would be the best replacements for them in the current meta? Also I'm liking Counterspell more then the Spellbender, some People don't play around it for some reason :D, and if you block Brawl on turn 5 you just win, what do you think? Also do you think the double Tol'vir is really necessary? It's really awkward that he isnt a elemental so I can't Play Kalimos on turn 5...
Decent deck but there are two huge weaknesses. Horrible WR against aggro bc of lack of AOE and weak against priest bc of lack of card draw.
my win percentage against aggro is actually the strength of this deck, I will concede priest to being a bad matchup.
Great deck When is the full guide coming out?
