Short clip of TidesofTime reacting to my deck on Legend Ladder
I Specialize in Tempo Mage. I get legend using almost entirely Tempo Mage decks.
Feel free to ask questions or comment!
Looks fun...how about that guide?
I wanted to wait until I finished testing a lot of different options but I think I'm going to make one this weekend
Ok cool but...finished testing? Didn't you already gain legend with it?
How much more testing do you need to do? XD
Looks like a solid deck. I have been running Tempo mage also since Un’Goro release, and also settled on a deck with both Elementals and Secrets.
Pyros has actually been a really strong card, particularly against Taunt Warrior. I seem to win every time I draw it. All of the Dirty Rats they play get punished hard by Pyros. A lot of the time they’ll show it before they concede, knowing the 10/10 is the only minion in your hand. So, seems like the rest of the game Pyros is indirectly stranding the Dirty Rats in their hand. Other times they will forget it’s in your hand and you win, and sometimes they even misplay and kill the 6/6 Pyros before playing Dirty Rat same turn.
Also against Aggro, the Taunts are strong enough to carry a lot of weight. If any of you are ranking up from 5 to legend where there is a lot of Pirate Warrior, I would suggest giving this a try.
I usually do very well against hunters, I did run a volcanic potion and a geyser though. Even without them though, I think the taunts usually hold pretty well. It's even easier if you get any 1 drop in your opening hand. I trade my mana worms into 1/1's all the time.
I'm glad you feel that way! And I agree!!
Personally, I play more pally these days but when I was laddering to legend I believe I went 8-0 Vs quest rogue. I probably got lucky and didn't run into many turn 5 quest completions but this deck should be able to rush them hard enough and then finish them off with burn dmg.
I find it struggling with draw the whole game
Same I also feel like the secrets might be a bit too slow, but i might be wrong since I'm still rank 10
edit: yep I was wrong I just managed to intercept a crystal core with counterspell lol
what are your thoughts on fire plume phoenix?
Looks like a good deck, any replacements for pyro?
I would go with a Golakka Crawler or a Water Elemental
replacement for firelands portal?
Meteor or Flamestrike
Why though? You can get it for free from the first free wing of karazhan.
why the arcanologist if you dont have any secrets?
edit: my bad i forgot about mirror
decent but not too special. I finally get to use my golden pyros though!
This deck has a few inconsistencies. For example, Hemet can kill some powerful spells like the secrets, Frostbolt and Primordial Glyph, so it really doesn't seem like a good fit. I also don't see the point of having Sorcerer's Apprentice or two Mirror Entity.
I've found that Volcanic Potion, Bloodmage Thalnos, and Arcane Intellect are much more consistent. I also subbed one of the Mirror Entity's for a Counter Spell. It's a great way to shut down quest rogue
You use Hemet once you are ahead and it guarentees powerful cards to keep you ahead. Counterspell is a good subsitute for a mirror entity. Most of the time I would play a CS or spellbender but with the current meta double mirror has been stronger for me. I dont agree with volcanic because aggro decks are an ideal matchup for this deck without that card. Bloodmage thalnos can always fit in a tempo mage deck so no complaints there!
I have tried N'zoth as a finisher against controle decks and its actually really good. Often you can discover another pyros with servant of kalimos and just having n'zoth summon the 2/2 and 6/6 is pretty strong. The card was just too inconsistent when I was testing it. I don't have spiritslinger Umbra but I'm not sure about it and molten reflection seems to slow to me.
