I came back here after months, years even, to find the ruins of a once great deck. Midway through evolutions and heavily outdated it needed some work, but I wasn't feeling writing an updated zoo guide for the modern game. So I decided to take it back to where it all began. A piece of hearthstone history. The first deck that truly shattered the metagame. And where more appropriate than here, the resting place of the guide that started it all. My build of OG zoo that haunted the ladder right back in season 1.
R.I.P
My deck is closer to yours than to noodles'. I also have them blood nights and scarlets. Gonna try those decisions of keeping my hand to bait the aoe's. Ty for the reply
Thanks! This is simply the best guide for playing Zoo.
Can you tell pls - how to deal with shamans with their aoe 2-3 damage removal?
Just don't spam Your minions on the board before it was cast.
I'll try to bait it, thanks for the advice
How do you handle this deck against hunters? If I flood the field I just give them a massive Unleash combo, and it seems to be super weak to the trap spam that most hunters are running.
Actually on that note, how does this deck come back from ANY board wipe?
Just tried this deck and it works great. Too good imo, i almost find it boring to play.
I like the concept of "cheap" cards, but not to this amount. Great deck though, even if i hope the meta will change.
Uuh, using this deck n love it, im rank 14 atm and climbing (hopes high) ... Altho using Faerie Dragon instead of Armani Berserker, works better for meh, atleast in think so xD
I have two nightmares with this deck: Handlock and Ice Mage (doomsayer, frost nova...).
What is your startegy againt them?
Race handlock, but watch his mana and life total and how much it costs for him to bring Molten Giant online with a taunt. Frost mage is the hard counter to zoo. In both instances Ironbeak Owl is a good card to have, but is dead in so many other matches that I still wouldn't run it.
Hi, I really appreciate you taking the time out to write this guide, it's very informative and helped me a lot.
I'm just curious, is there anything you can do against Handlock and Miracle aside from empty your hand and hit face as hard as you can? I understand that these are poor match-ups for Zoo to begin with, but I'm wondering if there's a way to get the strategy more consistent than just hoping you draw well and they draw poorly.
This is a great deck, and probably the best version of zoo for hitting legend. The only changes I made are 2x Elven Archer and Leper Gnome for Flame Imp and Argent Squire. Flame Imp just isn't that good imo. Against better decks and better players, the imp rarely gets to attack and rarely wastes a worthwhile removal spell or powerful minion. Leper Gnome always does at least 2 damage, costs no life, and can always be played no matter what turn it is.
Argent Squire is a good minion, but low impact and a potential liability with all the Blood Knights out there. I like that archer often gives you a minionless method of killing enemy minions. It works well with Knife Juggler, pops shields for free, combos with Amani Berserker, and in rare cases can finish off a low opponent behind taunts.
I've also considered replacing Amani Berserker with Faerie Dragon, but I think Amani often gets overlooked since it's actually a decent threat and draws removal. The reason Amani never does any serious damage is because players fear it. A 5/2 or 5/1 for 2 mana is something that can't be left alone, so it usually gets taken out by wrath, backstab, frost bolt, etc. But that usually means it drew removal away from your wolf, juggler next turn. Played smart, and in the right circumstances, Berserker can also be a devastating counter to 1-2 damage AoEs. I look at Berserker as having the same pressure as Flame Imp, without the drawback if it gets completely countered.
I love how this deck works for everybody else but me. Three matches, 0-3. I guess only pay to win players get good win rates.
Paying has nothing to do with winning. This deck is cheap and shouldn't require any payment in order to build it, ffs there isn't a single epic or legendary in it. Learning the deck and how to correctly play it is what will win you games. Practice makes perfect my friend, unranked mode is there for a reason, use it.
Edit: Replies must not be working again. This was intended for @Fenixdown.
Great build. Enjoying the slight differences from other Zoo decks, thanks for the persistent testing/updating, helps keep the deck fresh/current with the meta, which is really nice. I get all the hate Zoo decks get, but they aren't as easy as one might think. As you explained in the guide(and from first hand exp.), knowing when to trade or go to the face is absolutely HUGE with this deck as it's not supposed to be a straight to the face build. That alone takes practice and time to figure out, not to mention all the careful buffing you have to deal with, and trying to always keep up with the mana curve. I'm not saying this deck is the hardest thing to play(because it's not), but it definitely has some aspects that take time to really understand and play well.
well if you scrunch your face really hard and move your eyebrows in the right position, you can make yourself look mad
Tl:DR... Less qq moar pew pew, just another butt hurt victim of Zoo. If you don't like losing to it all the time, use your amazing deck building skills and put together a deck to beat it. Oh wait, you'd rather come here and cry about it. Spare us next time please.
Edit: This is directed towards @vatar99. Idk why the comments aren't replying properly.
The originality of your post is incredible, I must say I have never ever heard anyone mention words and phrases such as. Butthurt, less qq moar pew pew. These are totally original, and never been used in this context before. Not once have I witnessed such an original statement from any hearthstone or wow player in the history of these games. Not once have I found myself in the presence of such originality that I felt the need to mention it, like this occasion right now. You sir should be proud, you make the best use of your mental deficiencies, refusing to air your deep frustrations and anger with the use of done to death phrases, and simply create your own, and I admire that. You are an inspiration to us all.
Ah yes! Come, sit down and let the warm light radiating from my awe-inspiring intellect shine down upon you. I thank you for your kind words and encouragement. It's people like yourself that allow me to know for certain, I am indeed a creature of superior mental prowess.
i don't have any doomguard, could i use shadow fire or sunwalker instead ?
