I came back here after months, years even, to find the ruins of a once great deck. Midway through evolutions and heavily outdated it needed some work, but I wasn't feeling writing an updated zoo guide for the modern game. So I decided to take it back to where it all began. A piece of hearthstone history. The first deck that truly shattered the metagame. And where more appropriate than here, the resting place of the guide that started it all. My build of OG zoo that haunted the ladder right back in season 1.
R.I.P
No that is just an example...you can obviously use it for many more things like extra card draw and other units can buff him up
I don't get this deck.
Firstly, it's not really Zoo anymore. It is like a cross between Handlock and Zoo.
Secondly, you put cards for spell damage. But you don't really have too many damaging spells.
Lastly, if the deck is meant to be fast, why put Malygos then?
Check that deck out now. Try that out for size. I just want to have different variations and archtypes to the game. I am tired of played the same deck over n over n over again. This is a lil more potent than zoo I think.
I thought that the Amani Berserkers weren't working that well, so I tried to find a replacement.
I tried Loot Hoarders and I'm not sure how good the effect is. Any ideas?
Ok thanks!
Incredible deck. I started ranked last night, obv I started at rank 25. According to HearthstoneTracker, I've played for about 4 hours. 21 Wins, 7 Losses, that's a 75% win ratio. Rank 15 now.
Great deck indeed :)
I wonder how long I will keep this up :P
Anyway to possibly throw Lorewalker Cho in this deck? I saw Trump do it and it seems super annoying for the opponent.
I am loving this deck!
Thank you <3
played 15 games lost 4 great deck solid and fast has a response to everything as long as you are the one keeping pressure like the curve and the play style
Quote : Elven Archer: I prefer Elven Archer to Mortal Coil because of all the buffs/Knife Juggler, the fact that it's better to remove divine shields with, and even that it can hit the face is a small factor.
Neither of them are in the decklist. Is this guide a bit outdated ?
Thx for the fast reply, ill try this deck today and push for high ranks, lets see how it goes.
Cant get past rank 5, played 50+ games there.
90% loss to miracle rogues. Not bad vs kolento's zoo, 90% win vs druids.
Hi, I reached rank 2 last season playing only this deck from rank 13 with no variations at start, then trading 1 Harvest Golem x 1 Hellfire (yes, HELLFIRE!!!) The hardest matchup was against Priest, who had some presence in ranks 7-10 (i think i got like 10% win against them, and only cuz of bad draws of them). Overall, i cilmbed from rank 13 to rank 5 with something like 75% winrate. Then, it dropped to almost 50%. The main reason: AoE removal and big taunts. So, I changed 1 single card of this deck: 1 Harvest Golem x 1 Hellfire, and everything went better than expected.
This single card has won me at least 10 games for itself! If they clear your board, then you can respond with Hellfire to clear theirs. That was the main reason why i picked this card, but it also goes well when...
-If your opponent got a lucky hand (a lot of single removal) and some tough creatures, and you are losing board presence.
-If you are against your mirror, an aggro pala or mage, a tempo rogue or a shaman... You can hit to the face and then Hellfire...
-Against a big taunt in late game (and if you have something who can survive your hellfire like argent squire, doomguard or dark iron dwarf), you play hellfire and sacrifice 1 creature instead 2.
-This card even has been usefull to finish that druid or handlock in 1 hp after your 2 soulfire! They never will expect this card in a zoo deck!
PS: Always mulligan this card, you dont want it in your opening hand
PS2: English is not my native language, so sorry if there is something wrong.
still a relative noob, being stuck for a while at 20 19 20 this got me to 17 in a few hours. Thanks!
Just got a legend with this deck on EU. Thank you!
Excellent Deck Bro !!! Congratzzz Doing Well Btw in Ranked !!
I was very successful with this deck until ranks 7/6. Now I really start to struggle. Every time I face a priest - they always get their soulpriest+circle of healing or wild pyromancer combo through and I lose. Freeze Mages are a pain in the ass, too - but at least they can't heal themself up. Well and there are some Handlocks- there it's just luck to draw soulfire at the end....
So, how do you handle this problems, or do you switch the deck at this ranks?
I would suggest to keep trying. You're correct that Priest and Mage are one of this deck's worst matchups. I have only beat Priest once this season. However, I have only seen Priest about a half-dozen times (Mage about twice that).
Based on my experience laddering this month (NA server), you are far more likely to run into Druids and other Warlocks (either Zoo or Handlock) from here on up. If you play reasonably well, you should be able to run above average against Druid and about average against Warlock. As long as you keep your overall winrate above 50%, you just have to play a large enough number of games to keep leveling.
About a week ago, I started really struggling around Rank 5 and thought I may have hit a wall. However, I kept playing games and eventually I was able to slowly push up to Rank 2, even though I still lose the majority of games against Priest & Rogue.
Try not to get too discouraged about running into a bad matchup. Rogue is an even tougher matchup against this deck, and you will see them more often at the higher ranks than Priest or Mage. There just happen to be enough Druids, Warriors, Shamans, and even a couple Paladins here and there to even things out.
Just do your best to play around board clears while keeping on the pressure. At worst, the game will be over in 5-ish minutes and you are on to the next game, which is likely to be a favorable matchup. :)
true, I managed to get to rank 5 - but now I'm more struggeling to hold that rank^^ (EU)
Concerning rouges - I think I only got miracle rouges - and there I only had one loose out of 7 I guess - they couldn't come up with their combo before I killed them - maybe they were just bad:)
Well, first of all, great job on the guide, its well organised and updated.
Second, I'm currently at 46% win rate(28 games) with this deck (some slight modifications), i can't seem to recover from aoe clears or big taunts, cause then i have (almost) no cards and sometimes cant life tap.
Gonna continue my Zoo quest but wanted to discuss with you guys the viability of this deck.
