I came back here after months, years even, to find the ruins of a once great deck. Midway through evolutions and heavily outdated it needed some work, but I wasn't feeling writing an updated zoo guide for the modern game. So I decided to take it back to where it all began. A piece of hearthstone history. The first deck that truly shattered the metagame. And where more appropriate than here, the resting place of the guide that started it all. My build of OG zoo that haunted the ladder right back in season 1.
R.I.P
Any advice against Druids? They're my only win % under 50, they end up getting big cards out that I can't take down fast enough. Best win percentages have been against warlock, priest, rouge and priest - 58 games in so far, 36-22 (62%)
What do you recommend we do in this kind of scenario?
Mage has coin, so yo know he was just holding them off for Blizzard (which is what he did in this case)
So what's your recommendation? Sit it out and wait?
They also had another blizzard, and a flamestrike. Along with ice lance, frostbolt, he just controlled everything I put out there.
Is it better with mages to play 'slower' only keeping 2-3 minions out at once?
TBH I'm not sure how I ended up with that situation. Sometimes I do other things when I'm playing so I end up making bad decisions. Probably in this case I wanted to play KJ + Wolf instead of defender on the berserker and imp. Either way it didn't make a different, but yeah I always put down the big minions whenever I can.
I was just wondering if the deck is inherently poor against certain mage builds and it looks like it is. I also have problems playing paladins with this deck, but have done well against most others.
Also your guide says to not tap until you run out of steam, so that's why I didn't tap
Freeze mage is actually very easy to beat depending on your hand. Generally you ignore any minions they play and go face as fast as you can. If you can pop ice block before they Alex, or before you get below 20 HP, you win. If you draw a slow hand, or if they draw perfect, you're gonna lose, but that's true in most match ups. Also, don't play around anything like flame strike or blizzard. If they have it, you're going to lose regardless since you're on a 9 turn clock. Remember that any damage you do is meaningless until you activate ice block. Plays like using a soulfire on turn 4 and discarding a card can be important if you draw a doomguard on turn 5, for example. Your minions will often be frozen, so not wasting soulfire and doomguard are vital.
Thanks dude, I am getting better at the game thanks to helpful players like yourself. Just hit rank 11, using my zoo deck and an aggro mage I put together. Cheers
Guys, from rank 20, to rank 7.. Deck is really nice. :)
Are there any streams of someone using this deck? I find that my opponents are able to pile on a bunch of minions since I don't have an efficient way to clear them
Or is that OK? I don't get it
Thanks
I'll look for his stream, thanks. I am fairly new to the game, and this is my most successful deck yet (well the face warrior was good at at times). However I'm having trouble against Paladins, since I'm not 100% how to play around consecration since it can be played so early. Also Paladin can put down a lot of 1/1 that you need to waste your guys on to get rid of. They also have a lot of heals, so even if you have a decent lead (if the board is clear enough to go for face) they will be healed almost 100% with his truesilver (heal PLUS clear if he hits low damage guys) guardian, and lay on hands. Meanwhile by midgame I am helping him out by tapping trying to get minions on the board.
Generally I do well unless I get a shit draw, but Paladins consistently beat me
Thanks for your time building the deck and replying to people here
I got rid of a Voidwalker and added in a Shadowflame for much needed AoE, and I'm doing much better than before.
this deck is wierd i cant even get rank 8 with it
Most excellent deck.
Really good deck, thank you mate.. Today i was rank 19, now 13.. Work fell, but you can be countered easy. :)
Amazing deck, but I really do think Leeroy fits in the place of 1 Doomguard. It's been my finisher with 4 mana left several times.
I was considering dropping 1 doom for leeroy as well. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that seems better.
I was also thinking Leeroy over 1 Doomguard (if you had/could craft him) would be an upgrade, especially if it's being used as a finishing blow.
Thank you for the deck list. I just made Legend tonight with some slight tweaks--swapped the Argent Squires for Leper Gnomes since I was seeing a lot of Blood Knights.
I've noticed that neither mortal coil nor elven archer is in the deck anymore, what are your thoughts on those cards now and what were they replaced with? I also noticed that reynad doesnt play young priestess and you do, could you explain why you like young priestess and what purpose she serves in the deck? And one last question, why play amani berserker over scarlet crusader?
Hey!! Thanks for the awesome deck, i just reach rank 10 form 20 in 3 or 4 days!
I wanna know, what you think about replace, amani berseker for ironbeak owl, because i barely use amani's enrages, and ironbeak would be good to deal with some taunt's!
or maybe replace it for master swordsmith.
Sucks.
Only sucks if you are playing it wrong, trust me
