It's my variation of tempo mage. I was inspired by one of CosplayGrills decks but I've made some changes. For example I'm not using flamecannon and sylvanas. I just reached top 1 EU with this decklist with w/l ratio about 20/4 or something like this. You can see me playing this deck on my stream http://www.twitch.tv/bloodlips :)
BRM is out so there is more druids and control decks so i change deck for this meta. Im now using Flamecannons (so good vs shades) and i decided to stabilize mid and late game so i added acolytes (in mid late you are able to ping them and they are still better vs aggro then arcane intellect). This change making this deck not card lack in late game.
Bloodlips is better for the matchups I can't stand (Hunter, all flavors, and Mech Mage). Your deck loses every time to every build of hunter. Bloodlips' version does very well against Hunter and I don't think I've ever lost to Mech. Since 90% of the stupid decks from rank 15-1 are Hunter and Mech, I'm sticking with Bloodlips.
Given what you said, you have read nothing... but who expects that......
Great deck, Bloodlips!
Have you thought about turning the 2nd Counterspell into a Duplicate? I think that we'd be pretty happy getting extra copies of most of our minions, and it just helps diversify a bit more and protect against drawing both copies of a secret.
I mean, you need 3 mana to play any of the secrets in this deck... Your second point may be valid, but it costing 3 mana isn't the reason to not play it, :-).
I really, really like this deck.
I played a game a bit ago, at the end of turn 5 I had a 4/3 Mana Wyrm, Sorcerer's Apprentice, Annoy-o-tron (Unstable Portal), Myrmidon's Head (Unstable Portal), and a Piloted Shredder.
He conceded.
I think I might swap Polymorph for BGH. There have been few time's where I needed Polymorph, and in those instances, BGH would have been better.
I've changed [card]Sorcerer's Apprentice[/card] for Big Game Hunter and [card]Ragnaros the Firelord[/card] for Kel'Thuzad, and it's working amazing for me. Lost 2 games against zoo (so close) and won 7 against mostly mech mages. I recomend it a lot.
Well, good Deck ;)
Fun deck, and went 5-1 to get my Daily done.
That counterspell REALLY cancels what gets thrown at you. Faced Control Warrior, Mech Mage, Snake Bite Hunter, Mech ramp druid, Handlock and an Oil rogue. Really got the gauntlet of classes. I will say I am not a rank grinder, and this was in the 10-12 bracket.
One loss was to a Control Warrior. Came down to him having 1 HP left and a weapon. We went 3 rounds into fatigue. There was a minor mistake of order I made on a mana worm which would have made up for +4 damage in the end.
I do not have Rag, so using KT.
This is a really good deck. Counterspell and Kirin Tor Mage cut against the meta. Kezan Mystic is seeing tons of play. And it has everything else you need.
I swapped Kel'Thuzad in for rag, and 2 Flamecannon for Unstable Portal.
Playing at rank 4 with this deck and since I don't have rag I put in a vaporize just for the pure humor of it. Playing with 5 secrets is kind of sketchy but well worth the laugh no one plays vaporize :)
no one plays Spellbender, but its fun ))
But seriously, what can I replace Rag with? Is BK tempo enough, for example? Or that mech-4000 which is sometimes played in combo druid?
Well at 8 mana and usually as a finisher, hard to replace. Assuming he is there to regain board control in a tight game, against war for ex., I would say bk is decent, though not as good. kt seems out of place here as once you control the board to late game it's gg, too much burst with spells and counters with loatheb and counters.
I would say KT has a simliar effect but only for board control. Won't give you the additional 8dmg if you are trying to dump to face.
I have noticed that once I lose the board, mainly to shamans, it's gg. I took out the drakes and added bomb lobbers and won 7 in a row. What do you think about this blood lips? I don't feel I miss the card draw as the curve is already spot on.
I think this could be said for all of the popular decks right now. Priest, maybe Paladin have turnaround mechanics but your average Rogue/Mage/Hunter decks are super mana curve dependent.
I went 14-1 with this deck. I climbed from Rank 20 to rank 12. I mostly faced Ramp Druid, Mech Mage, Control Warrior, and Face/Midrange Hunter. The only loss I had was to the Control Warrior.
I would say the strength of this deck is definitely the early game ability for your tempo to get out of control. Mulligans would be to keep Mana Wurm, Mad Scientist, Sorcerer's Apprentice, Frostbolt, & Unstable portal.
If Aggro mostly keep Mana Wurm, Mad Scientist, and Frostbolt.
If Control or Tempo keep Madscientist, Sorcerer's Apprentice, & Unstable portal. DO NOT DROP sorcerer's apprentice unless you are immediately going to capitalize on the free mana. (great with a frostbotl or unstable for 1 mana).
I usually try to drop Mad Scientist board because it acts as a body for removal and drags in a secret. If it's mirror entity it gives you a tempo swing. If it's counterspell it will usually protect whatever you drop the turn after.
BTW I replaced Kelthuzad for Rag. I think it's just as good if you have a board by the time ur ready to drop rag (and if you have the tempo you should still have a board by turn 8). It works great with the deathrattle because the minions replace themselves and sort of act like multiple mini rags.
sucks vs aggro, sorry, so unstable portal<flamecannon
I've found Water Elementals to be pretty strong in Tempo Mage. They can single-handedly win games against Rogue and are decent vs aggro. Have you tried adding one or two to this list?
I understand Kezan Mystic is a meta slot but I find the Sorcerer's Apprentice a bit awkward because it's such a questionable mulligan keep, have you thought about the "anti-aggro" 1xZombie Chow instead?
