I came here for it like you, but never found it.
2 epic entrance 4 other legendares
Will craft gold and play in wild
Whatever if this cards is bad. IT'S PLAY SOUNDS ARE SO COOL
It's not even bad.
This card is not so good. BTW his entrance BGM is so EPIC!!
people are really underestimating this card, this is one of the stickiest minions in the game even just by himself
this is basically a 1/7 that summons a 3/7 when hit, and if it lives next turn becomes near unkillable with Spikeridged Steed and thats before even playing Righteous Defender with it on turn 7-10
Can't wait to see people ragequit when I cast Spikeridged Steed on this bad boi
The original Bolvar was so bad, he ruined the future Bolvar... Such an amazing piece of art, but such a potato card.
I would love to have the full art of this card.
They always make paladin legendary gold animations so great.
This is some lore about Bolvar, Fireblood, Tirion Fordring and The Lich King:
I don't see the hate for this card.. It might not make it into the meta, but it is by no means bad.. He will proc on his on divine shield loss.. Which makes him a 3-7 for 5.. Not to mention that 7 health with a divine shield is hard as hell to easily remove, especially if you drop him turn 5.. Your opponents best option is using hard removal.. Which in turn limits their ability to deal with your tirion..
Might not see play, but a lot of good cards don't see play.. But to just blatantly call it a garbage card is just dumb..
And the real reason he probably won't see play, is probably going to be because murloc paladin is still going to be more powerful.. People tend to run the most powerful deck for any given class..
Bolvar, Fireblood isn't as bad of a card it may seem. At his worst, he's a 5 cost 3/7 with Elven Archer's Battlecry. May not be incredible, but it's something. Not to mention Paladins don't have a consistent 5-drop. The only exceptions being Finja, the Flying Star but he's only run in one or two decks and Stampeding Kodo but it's more situational. We also have to bear in mind the amount of good minions that are run in most decks that have Divine Shield, most notable examples would be Wickerflame Burnbristle and Tirion Fordring. I will admit though that he seems pretty easy to build around, but he probably won't make it into an aggro Divine shield deck as he's too slow, but I'm sure we can find some room (or at least some experimentation) for him in a mid-range or even control deck. Even if Bolvar does turn out to be a bad or sub par card, that's easily justifiable since Paladin has been getting insanely good legendaries since Old Gods.
This card is in a whole new league. You could base your paladin deck around this, and it actually might be an huge success if your lucky.
I'm thinking Bolvar, Fireblood + Light's Sorrow + Blood Knight
If your lucky...
While not exactly someone worth building a deck around, this Bolvar does have some merit in already existing decks, provided one has room for him. Tirion and Wickerflame are typical auto includes these days, then there's people considering new cards like Corpsetaker and Righteous Defender, that's already a decent amount of Divine Shields there.
Also, it should be worth noting how 7 health with a shield can be a pain in the neck to quickly remove, especially if played on curve. Sure, the enemy can ignore it, but Spikeridged Steed on 6 can land a handful of them in a world of hurt unless they have sufficient removal.
Im crushin it allready with devine shield paly. Cant wait for this card. Quest Stopper card!
I don't see the hate. Unless the enemy changes his mind or he forces hard removal he is at minimum a 3 7 for 5, because he takes one hit and gains 2 attack assuming his effect procs on himself. 5 mana 3 7 is a reasonable statline, and in a divine synergy deck which seems to be what the dev team is going for he could very well be a 5 7 or 7 7 with such high health. A very reasonable 5 drop that warrants some attention in the midgame, as he curves into the powerful 6 mana Spikeridged Steed. He is at least playable for sure, I'd say very good.
If Divine Shield Paladin becomes a thing, this will be in there for sure. 5 mana, essentially 3/7 once he loses his divine shield, curving into Spikeridged Steed on 6. Goodluck token decks :)
