Keep in mind that mage secrets have a much greater impact than hunter secrets, not to mention that you need multiple secrets in your hand in the first place.
Although this card is still undoubtedly better than Kirin Tor Mage, depending on the viability of Lock and Load where this card shines, it may share the same fate as Kirin Tor Mage.
Mage secrets cost 3-mana; Hunter spells cost 2-mana. Although, Cloaked Hunter is better than Kirin Tor. Blizzard did the samething with Maelstrom Portal vs. Arcane Explosion. They refitted cards that didn't see competitive play to other classes. Perhaps a lazy way to design cards
But, keep in mind Hunter has one of the worst draw features available where Mage has Arcane Intellect and hero power synergy with Acolyte of Pain. Best case scenario, you play this card and unload 2-4 secrets same turn. You'll be top decking the rest of the game and pray you never fall behind on tempo or draw Call of the Wild.
Faceless Summoner
Lock and Load Yogg Saron,Hope's End deck might become a thing
It's definitely gonna be a thing. Whether it's gonna be a competitive thing is another question.
It's all fun and games until a Turn 3 The Coin into Eater of Secrets ruins the fun.
oh ya thank god that card exists now. i thought this was broken as hell.
Unless hunter popularity skyrockets a lot, I don't think people will be teching in Eater of Secrets. It's a horrible card if it doesn't get anything (worse than Kezan Mystic), and Blizzard appears to be pushing a more minion-oriented control mage (and secret paladin isn't an issue any longer.)
So tech in absolutely trash cards for a single class? Not unless the entire meta changes away from warrior/warlock/shaman.
You're right, except for one thing. Mages are going to try using secrets again thanks to Medivh's Valet, and if Control Mage and Secret Hunter end up being among the strongest decks, you can bet people will try Eater of Secrets, as terrible as it might be.
Aww you lot are so cute, getting all worked up over the secrets meta.
The whole point is that Eater of Secrets is only viable in a multi-secret meta. Secret Paladin is more viable that people seem to realise, some Hunters are running 3-5 secrets, and Control Mage will probably run 2 or 3. If that becomes 50% of the meta (unlikely at the moment, but who knows) then all of a sudden a crap card becomes viable. That's what a tech card is for.
Not quite as good as the ol Challenger. Maybe if it played the secrets directly from your deck?
That would immediately turn Hunter into the best class by a good margin.
That would be horrendously OP, you're right,

Malchezaar is no good here, you want to be able to consistently draw secrets, I would replace with highmane.
Not too sure about arcane giants but could be good, I'm actually pretty hype for that card.
