April 2016 Card Nerf
It was announced on April 20th, 2016 that Force of Nature would receive a nerf.
- Mana cost reduce to 5, down from 6.
- The Treants summoned no longer have Charge.
- The Treants summoned no longer die at the end of your turn.
Quote from BlizzardThe new version of Force of Nature lowers its mana cost by 1, but removes Charge and makes the summoned Treants permanent—like the other Treants that Druids summon. This change also removes the powerful one-turn combo of Force of Nature and Savage Roar. Now, opponents will have a chance to deal with the threat that the Treants represent, and it won’t feel mandatory to always include the combo.
I would rather even play Wobbling Runts now than this...
Well, wasn't that Savage Roar problematic? No? Well, OK.
5 mana 6/6 token value is good. Considering, you could combo with things like Power of the Wild or Soul of the Forest. You could also throw down a taunt to protect them and next turn burst with Savage Roar. Although Savage Roar was really the issue, I'm glad that combo wombo was finally nerfed to death.
but if you're gonna use Power of the wild or soul of the forest, or try to combo it next turn with savage roar, wouldn't you rather play Dark Wispers or even Wisps of the Old Gods so you get more tokens, a better chance that they survive until next turn(unless the opponent has Conseceration or holy nova) and potentially much more burst damage.
I really don't see this being any better than the wisp-generating cards now, which weren't bad in the first place, just that they lived in the shadow of this combo. Now they can really shine.
I wonder if this will also mean roar will be mostly unplayed like bloodlust?
At Lasttttttttttttttt!!!!!!
I thought that they will nerf Savage Roar tbh
I feel that this is a good nerf. Even as a druid main I didn't like the card. But this just seems like a druid copy of muster for battle. Which is honestly OK.
Druid main, can confirm this is a good nerf as well.
Yeah, I think it's an okay nerf but kinda misses the point of nerfing it in the first place. It's kinda like taking away the gun from a criminal but letting him keep the bullets. He's just going to get another gun to shoot with or in this case druid is just going to find new ways to flood the board for savage roar. Hell the new deathrattle old god would be perfect for that.
Best 800 dust ever.
I always felt that it was Savage Roar the imbalanced card in the combo. FON could be used as removal to Thaurissan or minions like that, a card for a card, now it's impossible to do that sadly.
At least with this one you won't loose all the value when someone changes your mind. Anyway, still bad.
You see why they have the guts to make Wisps of the Old Gods along with Dark Wispers now...
overall the FoN / savage roar combo was broken and i overall like this change i still think roar needs a change maybe something like +1 damage to all minions and 3-4 damage for your hero, so that way it front loads most the of the damage bonus to your hero so a 3 minion roar buff would net you 6-7 damage where as the old combo netted you 8 damage for 3 minions on board.
Almost to the letter. Only difference is that the official nerf also reduces the mana cost by 1.
We can finally play with 30 health against Druids instead of 16.
Good riddance
Puts it in line with Stand Against Darkness while removing the charge aspect that made the card OP to begin with. Nice work!
Honestly, I like this nerf. Although, Savage Roar is a bigger problem (compared to Bloodlust), this reduces the burst and gives the opponent an extra turn to stabilize. Maybe we'll see some kind of new combo with Soul of the Forest.
Yeah, those 3 treants are sooo useful... RIP, 800 dust and 2 free slots.
EDIT: I meant to say the 3 ones without charge. I know how powerful the combo is, obviously.
