Say goodbye to Frost Shock in my Shaman OTK deck.
People said goodbye to frost shock the day people see it.
I think it would have been more fun if the card description was: Deal 1 damage for each overloaded crystal, and unlock them. That way it could be used more strategically, and could potentially deal the same amount of damage as Frostbolt and Darkbomb.
yes it would be "more fun" if it was about twice as powerful for the same cost, sure...
Maybe if it's cost was 3/4 mana, for 2 mana that's pretty good.
If you have spell damage totem you will get frostbolt or dark boom.oh my golden alkir.he is back
You know... It's really taken far too long for blizzard to introduce a card with some overload synergy. Could be quite usefull, look forward to trying it out.
The main problem with this card is that there aren't enough overload cards to really justify it's use. In itself it's a very mediocre 2 damage for 2 mana card, which is something you usually want to avoid in constructed. Also if you use it on the current turn, you really need to unlock more than two mana crystals with it otherwise you aren't really getting anywhere. Maybe you can say that you did 2 damage for essentially 0 mana, but if the overload was blocking you from playing a big minion than you will still not be able to play that minion.
Really the only way to use this effectively is if you either have more than two locked mana crystals this turn or if you have nothing left to play this turn and can use it to unlock your crystals for the next turn. Also I believe that unless Shaman gets more overload based cards there just won't be enough opportunities for this card to justify its use.
Can't count the number of times I've had to Lightning Storm on turn 5 and not been able to play my Fire Elemental next turn because of it. This card will also help finish off minions damaged by the Lightning Storm if you have abysmal luck with the RNG, or perhaps need to finish off a high health/divine shield minion that didn't die to Lightning Storm.
With this card we might actually start to see Unbound Elementalagain, who knows overload shaman may even be a thing in the future. Either way I feel this will definetly get in all the spell heavy control shaman decks
Smoothing out mana curves will be this cards strongest part. Will not make Earth Elemental more viable but will mean that people might be more willing to put back some "slow" cards like Feral Spirit or multiple overload cards easier to play on certain turns.
Situational Case: Play Neptulon on turn 10 and then you get Big Game Hunter , your turn comes back and you have 8 mana worth of Murloc so you use Lava Shock kill BGH and then play your Murloc combo for a tempo swing. Just a theory :D
This card is pretty awesome! I think people are missing the point of this card entirely. This card won't be primarily used to get rid of mana crystals on your current turn, unless you REALLY need the two damage. Also this card will NOT make Earth Elemental viable (sorry guys). This card will primarily be used to set up your following turn. That way you can still play Neptulon and Dr. Boom and Fire Elemental on curve even if you Lightning Storm.
I think you are vastly underestimating the significance of this for Shamans...
This card is pretty awesome IMO. Deal 2 damage to anything and get more free mana? Nice
Definitely gonna be used a lot in overload shaman
This is going to look EPIC in golden version :D
