The Tavern Brawl - Duel of the Death Knights
The DKs have all come out to celebrate Days of the Frozen Throne. Choose a class and you'll get a random deck and start out as a Death Knight.
- This is a brand new brawl!
- You'll pick your class and be given a premade deck containing loads of Frozen Throne cards.
- Your hero starts off as the Death Knight of your chosen class.
- Winning the brawl gets you a Classic Pack! What a missed opportunity.
Don't forget who your Death Knights are!
So after 4 games winning with Warlock, I decided to play Paladin. Won by "Exodia" via too many taunts.
Afterwards, I played Shaman. All non Jaina's got my instant-concede (5x), the three mages that I played against.... I actually won 2!
(Shaman Hero power into lucky non-1health minion .... haha always lucky )
I don't think so.
Yes, Priest can nullify your Hero Power with theirs, but that just trades 2 of your mana for 2 of theirs. It would all come to who has the best deck, but considering Paladin starts with a 5/3 weapon, you would be in advantage.
Mage is not a 50/50, I'd say it's 70/30 in favor of the Mage (and that's being optimistic). From my experience, if you get cards that can protect your Horsemen (such as Divine Shields or Health buffs) you might win the game. Otherwise, the Mage will generate an army of Water Elementals from turn 3, which is really bad news for your Horsemen.
Finally, I agree with you on Warlock, he is probably the worst matchup. This is because his Hero Power allows him to clear your Horsemen while regaining Health, which disables your chances of rushing him down like you can do with Priest.
Under this analysis, Paladin might look like crap, but its not, because:
after playing this brawl i remember wh i stopped playing hearthstone
why not? its adorable
Agree. Maybe they should give bonus mana points for some dk's at the start of the game?
Haven't finished my first quest. Will they disappear with end of event?
Very likely
I've actually found success with warlock, though I've lost quite a few games from complete rng. Either way I refuse to use mage, because I'm not some brain dead moron who requires some OP thing to win.
In fact, I find it satisfying being able to win an uphill battle.
Easy win for your Warlock or Priest opponent. 50/50 against mage.
Seems I get a lot of Mirror matches regardless of what class I choose...
Insane Value , Thank You Blizzard For The Freebies Much Appriciated!!!
Neat idea but it seems like it wasn't thought out beyond the "cool idea" level, cause the classes are clearly unbalanced. Since decks are random, all it comes down to is how lucky you get and how much your ability can compensate for it if you get screwed. I think this would've been more enjoyable if they either:
1. Went in all the way with randomness and had you play random heroes
or
2. Had good premade decks to finetune things a bit.
As it is the variety is terrible, if you play anyone outside of Mage or Warlock you're relying a lot on luck and if you play them, well, you're just playing the same match over and over and hoping you get lucky. People are saying "don't complain about Jaina vs Jaina" but that's a terrible argument. I want to see more classes played too but it's hard to convince myself to play Druid who can either get to do 3 damage or get 3 armor while Warlock can deal that 3 damage without damage to his face, get those 3 HP back and attack anyone he wants with that. There's no incentive for people to pick other classes other than in hopes that maybe they won't get steamrolled this time. Blizzard screwed this one up.
I thought Jaina was OP, but actually Warlock just straight up wrecks mage. just keep destroying their water eles, and you'll soon just greatly overpower them. I've lost only to 1 mage (out of about 10), because they drew the nuts :D I realized when I kept losing to warlock how OP it was :D
Edit: I've lost to 2 mages out of about 20 now, mainly because my deck was mostly 1 health minions. My opponent apparently had a blast spamming "bow to your queen".
Everyone complaining about Jaina vs Jaina.... In order for that to be happening, you MUST be playing Jaina yourself. Stop complaining that when you pick the overpowered DK, everyone else also picks it!
Prisoners dilemma my friend ;)
And yet, when both prisoners turn on each other, you don't hear them complaining self righteously "I can't F-ing believe we both ratted each other out!"
No, they would post it into a forum 😂
Why choose a hero and not get a random deathknight...
Jaina vs Jaina is just stupid
Uther is so broken! As long as if you're not against garrosh or gul'dan, then u win
I havent lost a single game to uther with jaina (whih should have been excluded from this brawl, way to op).
