The season hasn't started yet!
I can't wait to see exactly what info they will release tomorrow in exchange for not releasing price info.
Don't set yourself up for disappointment. That's what happened to me on June 20th (the eighth anniversary of Naxxramas) when they announced nothing.
yolo
Wish Blizz called it the Whimsyshire back rather than Colors of the Rainbow. The could of added ponies to it too :)
Seems that Blizzard has a small team working on this game, They really have to be faster because this is something that many hearthstone players, that play for a lot of months now, are looking forward to. There aren't many reasons left to still play this game a lot and I am starting loosing interest.
They have/had to do the new interface for the adventures. New adventures will probably be easier to realease once this is settled. They are probably already working on the next one!
What's hard to imagine?
There's a large difference between creating an adventure mode, and releasing a set of cards.
They've already created and completed all 30 of the cards they are releasing, plus every card the bosses will be using. Creating the cards is the easy part, even when you factor in balancing.
No, this is taking so long because it's a lot of programming, basically creating a new version of this game for people to play. But it's the first, and they will most likely be able to transfer a lot of the work they did on Naxx to the next adventures.
That being said, a standalone expansion will JUST be cards. They probably have half of them completed, and all that takes is patching the new cards in. Not a fraction as hard as an adventure mode.
I find it amusing that a card set of 30 cards that was started in November is still not even ready in July. Magic has already released, in that timeframe, three new entire sets.
I mean, really, what have these guys been doing for the past 8 months? They can't even fix a game-breaking bug before the end of a season, and now they can't even release an expansion set for the beginning of a new one. I'm starting to wonder now which will come first : Warlords of Draenor or Curse of Naxxramas. I'm actually starting to lean towards Warlords.
That other games release cards a lot faster does not make those games better. I doubt that Magic cares that much about balancing and such like Blizzard does.
You're joking, right. WotC sets Magic up with about four or five different tournament types specifically for the purposes of balance. Many of the most overpowered cards they've made are either restricted to one or even banned. Not to mention the fact that Type 2 only allows 3 block sets to be played in a constructed deck, meaning that the meta is constantly changing with every new release, which is pretty much like clockwork on a three month cycle.
Furthermore, I use Magic as an example because it's the most commonly known card game. Pretty much every card game I've ever played has released new expansion sets on a three month cycle. Vs., .//hack, LotR, YGO, the card game with the fighting games (which I now can't even recall the name of for some silly reason)...of all the collectible games I've ever played the slowest at releasing new sets was Hero Clix and they still managed a new set once every four months.
If this game is supposedly raking in so much bankroll, then they need to get on the ball if they are going to expect people to continue to be paid players and not just say screw it because it's not worth it. I'm glad I only spent the minimum on the game during beta. If I had been one of these folks who dropped several hundred dollars just to play witht he same cards for what's reaching 3/4ths of an entire calendar year, I'd be pretty dang pissed. I mean, if their very first expansion is going to take them this long, what's an entire full expansion set going to take? A year? 14 months? This game will go the way of Hero Clix Online if they are waiting that long to make new cards.
30 cards, each with a sound-effect, golden effect, +any other special effects (like hunter's mark, nozdormu, etc.). a bunch of bosses with their own powers, emotes, unique cards. +a whole new play-mode. it's not as simple as just making 30 new cards with some artwork.
I'll add to this and say that magic has teams of testers called the future league (I think, been a while) that specifically playtests out all new cards in all their formats (draft, standard, etc.) to make sure there is no card that breaks the format, they test for months at a time in advance. Granted, hearthstone only has one set (core) at the moment, and they can actually change and retcon cards unlike a paper card game, but it would be nice to see in the future.
I find it amusing that you believe the 30 cards aren't completed. It's the adventure that's not completed.
It's interesting how the expectation of Naxxramas' price in gold has increased significantly over time:

Considering they've announced no release date ...
