This week on Value Town, ChanManV was joined by Raven, Sottle, and Th3rat to discuss Brode's recent post on the Meta, the HCT Global Games, and the process behind the HCT Prelims.

The reality is that these guys play hundreds of games a week, and us average joes play 10x less. Of those 15-20 games we get fucked over by shamans and warrior cause they are oppressive as shit.Streamers and tournament players are less than 0.5% of the players, they're high volume of games provides them with a larger pool games but ain't nobody got time for all that hearthstone.
I'm cringing listening to them find good things with the meta.
I'm not sure Th3Rat understands the sport in esports. People are not going to watch for countless games in a Swiss tournament. Sports (real sports) have seasons, and then they have playoffs. Playoffs do not last 15 games per round. They lead up to a series of 7 games, or they lead up to a single game (Super Bowl, World Cup) that decides a winner. Sports that use a single game decider (Soccer, Football) consistently have higher ratings. Viewers want finality, not a slew of games to decide rankings. Sure, an NFL player is going to be mad that a single game ended their season after playing so much already, but them's the breaks. Make no mistake, sports are designed for the viewers, not the players. If you want Hearthstone to be a popular sport, you need to accept this.
What utter rubbish. Worst episode yet. Why are you all trying to deny the worst meta ever and refuse to admit there is a problem with pirates or shaman??
And no mention of dinosaurs. Un'goro I remember fondly from wow vanilla, and you dont even mention it. Is blizzard telling you what not to say on your show?? Not impressed.
MIdrange shaman meta was way more cancer.
It's really the tournament formats that cause a garbage meta. I mean ladder is the worst because it's just one and done keep grinding with that aggro deck till you top out. The 3 deck format would be a little better except the pirate package goes in numerous decks so you still end up with an aggro meta. They need a large number of decks to in the format to include all types or just acknowledge the pirate package is to broad for the environment.
This is the worst HS related video I have seen. Nothing of value was gained. Go suck blizzard. Vaping ibne.
Did they intentionally avoid talking about the leak? It seems so to me, even though I am not too excited about it.
I am recently a bit bored by Chanman V 's style of talking (always pretending to be nice, pretending to know everything) to be honest.
I normally love value town, but those Blizzard package sniffing guests were too much to take.
Th3rat very interesting guest appearance.
Some proper brown nosing in this week's episode. The whole internet is wrong and the state of the game is actually fantastic. Yeah sure.
Yeah, when your evidence is "you still have 48% chance against Aggro Shaman if you don't use Reno" completely neglecting that a big portion of that 48% is you also playing an aggro deck and winning the race, it's not very convincing.
It's not "either you play Reno or you die" it's "either you play Reno, or you play aggro". And that's a meta that's not fun at all.
Many still missing the point in why Hearthstone is so bad right now, including Ben Brode. Amnesiac said it best. Basically certain cards are too powerfull/annoying, they are just not fun to play against or possible to play around. Reno is one, kazakus etc. This makes the game harder for good players to assess, because the likelyhood that the other player has one of those cards is in most cases low. so when you play something and they then counter it with those cards, it's frustrating and not very fun.
I'ts not about winrate, the 53% means nothing. It's how you win and lose. You are not actually playing hearthstone if you make no decisions and die/win by turn 5-6.
A little bit too much Blizzard fan girling for me.
Please don't compare tournament meta with the ladder scene, they are far too different. one has rules with bans, the other is a grind with the most dominant decks.
also if the community is agitated due to one card, is it worth waiting for the problem to go away or fix it. this problem is also not interactive which is showing the flaws of the game, i.e. no blocking, no way to activate anything on opponents turn, no card trading, etc etc. If players start to see these problems for too long, they tend to question the amount of time and money they spend on a Digital Trading Card Game that they have no physical control over, i.e. nothing to sell.
the majority of players are below rank 5. so please keep them in mind because they are the ones paying for this game.
Wild is also starting to see pirate decks, so don't aspect anything different there, actually its worst with ship's cannon.
