Kabal Community Voting Failed - Jade Lotus Will be Next Week
Some said that it didn't matter, that the system is rigged and we'd hit 100% regardless of who voted. 57.52%, that's where we ended. While this card will end up being revealed at a later date, likely just before the expansion launches in a card dump, we won't be seeing it early.
Although some don't think this is the best system to reveal extra cards, it is what we have been given for this expansion and we encourage everyone to get out next week and hit that button so we can get an extra, early card for the Jade Lotus.
Quote from BlizzardThis gang’s already gotten all the support they could… but there’ll be a new gang in town on Monday. Check back.

I'm so fucking glad that the community is not as engaged as in previous expansions. Serves team 5 well, I'm still pissed at the priest skin region locked fiasco, and they have not apologised for that bullshit region locked content. And don't give me any bull crap, I tried the reddit method and it didn't work, after that I was frustrated enough to beg for a code on twitch. Fuck twitch, fuck amazon and fuck blizzard marketing team.
Not gonna stop me from pre-ordering and enjoying it when it finally comes, but this is just stupid. How do you disappoint your player base because they don't show/have enough interest or fucks to vote for a card reveal. Thought the reveals were done to create that hype.
The comments are brilliant.
This is what happens when they reveal/make bad cards. People lose interest.
It's simple, people don't want to be used. Personally when games ask me to share their link for rewards, I refuse (generally.)
I don't go around doing free marketing to get 50 new players to sign-up to game so that the system can give me some cheap skin some artist did in 30 minutes to existing base model.
Also, people don't like that some person comes to chat just to bother them with a sales pitch that they don't get paid for but company has got them hyped so much that they don't even understand the marketing behind it even a bit.
"We didn't promote the card reveal enough, so there wasn't enough hype on the interwebs. Because of this, we won't reveal the card, and there will be less hype for the expansion. The only people who will know that they missed out on a card are the people who actually voted for the thing, which will convince them that their vote doesn't matter. Then we'll have even fewer votes for next week!"

look at all the chat/interest not revealing one card generated. #MadeYouPostOnInterWebs
but nobody speaks about card, people are pissed because voting (it wasn't even voting, it was just click the button without ANY fun, there was/is LITERALLY no fun part of this (except you get results of course)) was designed badly, the whole system; webpage that wasn't promoted, small button you had to scroll down to find, not much feedback, etc.
if they decided to do reveal that way they should at least design DECENT landing page with CTA
there is no fault on community side this time, Blizzard marketing team responsible for that particular activation just blow it big, from what people are saying it is not lack of interest in new card, it was just: boring, uninspiring, dull, uncreative and badly executed
also it seems like Blizzard itself forgot to promote 'voting' (maybe it was so boring they got bored as well? lol)
"Although some don't think this is the best system to reveal extra cards, it is what we have been given for this expansion and we encourage everyone to get out next week and hit that button so we can get an extra, early card for the Jade Lotus. "
I didn't vote and I did it specifically because I think supporting this type of system encourages them to keep using it and I would prefer it change.
The only way it changes is when Blizzard realizes it is not successful so I think your argument to participate because it is our only option is silly as the other better option if you don't like it is don't participate. Short term it may cost me/you but hopefully long term it makes blizzard realize they need to step up their marketing game!
The thing is, they were either expecting way too many more players voting or for people to go to the same fucking page every single day to click on that button.
That is the opposite of hype, that is just making people get bored and annoyed at your reveal.
The sad part is that they might think it's a lesson for us, and not a lesson for them.
It seemed like the article was blaming the fan base for not supporting it enough lol not like we're the paying customers :) we don't get what we want.
Less "news" for them to report, which translates into website traffic, which results in advertising revenue. They got to make up for it a little by writing this news article about news that wasn't released, but a card reveal certainly would have driven more traffic.
As someone with a journalism degree who used to work in gaming and entertainment, I'm glad that so many people are starting to recognize the "corporate hype machine" for what it is, which unfortunately includes most of the gaming press these days...
And don't forget streamers/casters; there's nothing wrong with them, but everyone should always keep in mind that they aren't journalists. They might bill themselves as such when it suits them, but the rest of the time, they don't hold themselves accountable to ethical journalism standards. (Conflicts of interest, accepting payola and generally being content with their position as a cog in Blizzard's PR and marketing machine.)
Its not even voting, its clicking a button, theres nothing to choose.
Lol feels like the presidential election again about people not getting out to vote.
Who gives a damn? I don't like being forced to do something. the card's gonna be revealed no matter what, nice try Blizzard.
Next time try to put some more effort in the extension... Like some other stuff than boring buff minions (tip: even if they come in 10 variations, it's still boring). Or, like, do something more motivating than boring-as-hell cards that copy existing cards, except there's a stat or two changing.
No really, I think it's well deserved people showed you they don't really care about wether or not you show this card right away.
This is the problem with the whole system. A lot people just like yourself, will come here and bitch that this set is flawed, that the way they reveal cards is stupid, etc. etc.
BUT in the end you will all still pay for this shitty product, as will I. My only thing about Blizzard is how they keep stressing RNG. It's as simple as looking at the most popular card game in MTG to realize that a competitive scheme isn't as successful when you have a lot of RNG involved.
It boils down to this: pro players don't like it because it takes away from their hours of practice in a game they enjoy. "I'm going spend over 8 hours a day playing this game, trying to get good at it. Commit time and money to go to a tournament only to get fucked by RNG." Pro players simply because they know if they don't someone else will take that money. But that doesn't create a healthy competitive scene. Because you have players who attend for the wrong reasons. They go into thinking, if I win cool if I lose then w/e. They don't go into the tournament thinking, I know that I can outplay most of the competition if I put enough time to practice and make myself a better player by that practice. It's like Texas Hold'em but with different cards. Instead of Hearts, Spades, Clubs, and Diamonds we get Battlecries, Deathrattles, Continues abilities, and special mechanics. The reason we love this game so much is because of it's unique mechanics, with Mana per turn, battlecries, deathrattle, etc. all in one game. Not because of the RNG.
Chriscobi: Who said I'll pay? I don't intend to spend any money in the extension, and I'll have about 4000 gold when it comes out, which is enough to get the majority of the set, added to the dust I have.
And even if I paid for it, I think I have the right to give my opinion and expose what I think is wrong in the extension. I'm not judging Blizzard (calling them names or whatever), I'm judging their product. And there's been a degradation over the past few months, as I see it, with Blizzard saying that they listen to us but still coming up with the same flaws again and again: making certain classes nearly unplayable in ranked while powering up others, then nerfing them to oblivion. Rng is a problem, but it's ONE of the problems HS currently has.
As for me, I'm not threatening to leave as some others are, but seeing that Ranked has been unappealing to me for the last three months, and that I only log in to do my dailies, I can say this: I'm gonna follow the evolution of Gwent (The Witcher card game) very carefully, because it might replace Herthstone for me.
RNG is not what makes this game playable. The way you manage your resources and play certain cards, and what cards you put in your deck is what makes this game playable. A lot of people make the common argument that if I don't like then I should go play Chess. Honestly that is a very ignorant comment to make. Because Chess doesn't have mana usage, battlecries, creatures, etc.
Like I mentioned before Magic The Gathering has been the most successful card game ever, and I've talked to a few players who are semi pro and they honestly think that the reason it's so popular is because it has the least RNG of any card game. It's simple logic that I already made, no one in their right competitive mind wants to invest hundreds of hours into a game where they can lose because something completely out of their control. FFS the HS world champion was decided on huge RNG alone, and it makes HS be the laughing stock of Esports because of it.
