You mean the archetype that already has 3 mana 5-5s ? Oh, or already has 2 cards that allow you to play a secret for (0) ?
People need to stop thinking every archetype needs broken card. No, they just need non mediocre card like Blizzard has made the Classic set mostly made of. They wouldn't need to introduce OP cards if there wasn't awfully mediocre cards in the first place.
hmm, if secret mage actually becomes viable I won't feel as hipster and it might be less fun.
Except this is much worse .
Things gets reduced by
literallyeverything the Shaman does anyway .I remember the days when dictionaries defined "literally" as actual meaning in a literal sense as opposed to figuratively.
Turn 1 = Kabal Lackey + Secret > hand size at end of turn = 2 cards.
Turn 2 = Mediv's Valet > Hand size at end of turn = 2 Cards
Turn 3 = Kintor Mage + another Secret > Hand size at end of turn = 1 Card
Turn 4 = Double Crystal Runner > Hand size at end of turn = 0 Cards
or Turn 4 = Ethereal Arcanist > Hand size at end of turn = 1 Card
Turn 5 = Avian Watcher > Still at a 1 Card Hand
While the first option seems very strong to me . If your opponent wipes your board you are so out of resources its not even funny. Counterspell and Spellbender might be strong cards to set up right before a Crystal Runner to ensure it sticks around.
IMO the viability of midrange secret mage will depend on if they can find a balance between aggressively dropping secrets from hand and maintaining hand size to close out the game on turn 7-10 with burn like fireball and torches ect.
that u described is only best way senario and by the way mage kan draw restore her hand by arcane intellect, cabalists tome, antonaidas, azure drake and spel book, so sadly i do not agree with you!!
turn 5 brawl
Worse than Thing From Below because it doesn't have taunt and secrets are less common than totems, but since Mage secrets are better than totems it ain't so bad. I doubt we'll see it played for zero that often, but still, a 2 mana 5/5 is pretty good. I wonder if it'll fit into any tempo decks cause of that. I can't see it being played too competitively, but hey, it'll be a lot of fun to play around with
it might see play in tempo decks. Mirror Entity is still pretty common. Counterspell still sees play too. After the rotation when things like Arcane Blast and Flamewaker disappear tempo mages will be looking for new cards to put in their places.
Every class gets 9 cards from an expansion, or at least it has been like that until now. Also, paladin already got 9 cards from MSG, so priest still lacks another epic, a rare and a common, plus the legendary card.
The red, chainy figure that Amaz is supposed to reveal is presumed to be the Priest Legendary. It reveals at 7:00AM PT (10:00AM ET, 3:00 PM GMT) Tomorrow.
Now i got a reason to play Flare not only in wild and i can draw a card. But Blizzard pls, don't print cards like this. Im a little bit afraid what Shaman is getting, we did not see any cards at all.
The answer is probably nothing, Shaman is OP enough already
This card is just screaming for a Breaking Bad reference.
No taunt makes it a lot worse imo
Only shamans can get such broken cards
I don't get why they chose to increase Mage potential.
And with strong Tempo choices that have proven utterly out of control in Shaman.
Now we're gonna have an extremely frustrating Reno Mage, and an even stronger Tempo Mage. Actually there is a chance that those archetypes fuse into one.
Why not experiment with brand new archetypes instead, given that Mage is already pretty solid...
Mage secrets cost a lot, and ALL secrets can be played around...and typically in construct there are only a few popular secrets so its very easy to play around them. I think that this card is very balanced. what made thing from below so troublesome was the sheer number of totems that shaman auto-included in the deck.
Playing a secret heavy deck is going to force the deck to KILL your card draw. If you tech in cards like Loot Hoarder,Novice Engineer, or Gnomish Inventor, the pool of powerful value cards you have to choose from becomes VERY limited. Additionally, the new cards that allow your secrets to be played for 0 mana require that you have both a secret AND that specific card and the secrets that aren't (ice block), can often lead to you having a second copy that is dead in your hand further hurting you....i think the new mage emphasis on secrets is fun, but so far it looks VERY balanced.
Every expansion they try to increase every class' potential. It's not like by expanding Mage they cannot expand the other classes. The goal is as much viable variety as possible. It'd be pretty silly to intentionally give Mage stale, boring design because they're already succeeding at expanding them.
There is no need for secret Mage for this card to be a huge tempo swing. Even just 1 secret makes it a 4-mana 5/5 (the discount is double per secret).
And currently quite any mage runs at least some secrets.
Secret Mage may be balanced. This card is not.
