i think the so called tier 1 decks are overrated...
sure they are tier1 atm..what happens when it dies out? when a new and better deck comes out? they get outdated and your dusts/gold that were spent will be lost forever....muhahaha,,,,
and just build your own tier 1+ decks! and no more sorrows
dont spread it out and keep it to yourself and make urself happy only
Can you give me an idea of a good tempo Mage in current meta? Because the aggro Mage isn't too great compared to other class Setups for aggro imo
mage is decent for aggro/tempo decks because of the burn spells in this class, these burn spells ignore all taunt and go directly towards face....
when the opponent has down to 10-20 hp, he has to be super cautious of mage burn spells
before you call a class weak, you have to look at the good+bad matchups
current meta is filled with hunters+zoo and some priest/warrior to counter aggro
if aggro/tempo mage is only good against hunter but bad against zoo, priest, warrior, then obviously the meta isn't that great for aggro/tempo mage
each deck/class has good bad matchups, you can't just say oh it sucks blah blah blah
you have to examine why it sucks
also the pilot(you) playing the deck is more important than the deck itself, meaning even if you were given the best deck in hearthstone but if you suck at the game, you wont get any good results because of bad plays!
so deck, matchups/meta, your skill vs opponent skills, and luck are what causes you to lose/win
also similarly many say paladin is weak, but it's not!!!It might be weak in this current meta, but it's one of the best classes for tournament settings and one of the best classes depending on the meta.
Again all decks are dependant on the good matchups to get a good winrate, which asks for a meta good for your deck!
Also each deck has different play style, some deck go directly for face while another go for board control first then go to face...in which they both might be called aggro. So you can't just say this aggro is better than that aggro
Also decks like zoo/druid has a lot less "bad matchups", they are the all-rounders
So comparing pineapple to an orange is just not good...you might as well just eat pineapple if you really like it
But others will continue to love orange, each fruit is unique
I have to say I love your explanation buddy, very detailed and nicely explained, and I don't pay attention to any of the tournaments so I'll take your word on that, I just know from what I play and i am from no means an unexperienced player nor a dumb player, I'm also not a pro, usually around a rank 5 most seasons, hit legend before and have unlocked all but 8 cards, I just don't see very many mages at the moment, and it used to be one of my favorite classes but I'm struggling with it so I avoid it now which I don't like to do, I kind of feel like Mage replaced the priest from before naxx, in the sense that people who love it wont quit, but in your opinion whats a worse class right now in non-tournament games? Also may I ask why syl is your choice for the only legend? Seems like a bad fit in that deck IMO
a worse class right now? paladin probably since it's weak against aggro unless it draws consecrate/board clear early on in game
why is sylvannas my choice in the deck? it's a deathrattle, fits well with undertaker theme. It also fits the mana curve well. Why him instead of cairne? cairne is better against control but a bit slow and syvlannas changes the board dramatically once played. This is the probably one of the only decks I would be able to throw syvlannas out there naked. Board control initially is everything for my deck. Once opponent has down to 10-15 hp range, that's where board control matter less and less. But syvlannas is there to help me clear some of the board if necessary. Also the deck isn't fully finetuned since I don't play it that much nowadays! Could make some changes if i deemed necessary.
If i had to change out syvlannas, it would be loatheb. But that really needs a lot of testing to say which one is better than the other!

i've ran it in a kt priest build...it's awesome against aggro but what about control? didn't do that well
the conclusion i came up with was that there's no need to go out of my way to go for an anti aggro build when priest the class itself is already anti aggro to begin with
hence i dropped the whole concept and the abom itself

and finally here's my mage deck

um...aggro/tempo mage is super strong againt hunter+handlock
weak against warrior/priest/zoo
but decent vs all
0
i'd start out with shaman and once you build a decent collection you can play other decks
my advice is not to disenchant unless you really really really really know what you're doing
0
hunter, priest, warrior, ramp druid, handlock, freeze mage, and maybe a couple more depending on build

crazed alchemist ftw

from my understanding of this, if you concede, you deserve a ban, lol

miracle is like easy win vs priest, maybe go switch to miracle now?

go make yourself a priest and you're set

for some reason all my control matchups are super interesting
it's usually where i do some crazy fancy combo shenigans
