posted a message on 12 WIN - Baku Druid

Not a fan... just went 0 for 3, all three against inner fire priest. Fun times. It really lacks early board presence and any kind of removal. Baron doesn't help when you are up against 16/16s. You can pray for a Naturalize but your Ettins will fall to SW:D and Creepers to SW:P. If you could actually build a wall this could be good but otherwise your opponent can pretty much run the board.

posted a message on Did Blizzard forget who Nightbane is?

So I just finished this week's wing, and I was pretty surprised when I fought Nightbane. You know, the giant skeleton dragon that rained down ash and fire (and lots of skeletons) over many wipes in WoW? So why is he a fully formed blue dragon with a manastorm passive? At first I thought maybe they mixed up Nightbane with Netherspite, but looking ahead it looks like there will also be a Netherspite fight. What's up with this weird Hearthstone version of Nightbane then?

posted a message on how hearthstone ruined my life

People with addictive personalities should be careful playing Free-to-play games, which are designed to take advantage of your weaknesses. The earlier you learn this and learn ways to manage reasonable limits to your addictions, the better your life will be. I get the impression you are fairly young, so learn to get this under control before you ruin your school life/college/jobs/relationships.

I subbed in Gormok for one of the shredders. Not as reliable but it's fairly easy to have 4 minions on board and the 4 targetable damage can be a huge swing.

How do you deal with patron? I have been trying to get a sort-of similar deck working but keep getting stomped by warriors.

Keep in mind Magma Rager and BBB are from core Basic set. Getting better cards out of packs to replace the core set cards makes sense to me.

posted a message on Friend Request after a good game?!

It's funny - this happened to me a few days ago. It was a lock vs. lock match, fairly even but he was barely winning. I was down to 1 HP, and won with some super lucky top-decked combo. The guy added me as a friend and I accepted, expecting some incoming rage to laugh about. Instead, he never said anything, so I guess it was a friendly add. Still removed him after a while though because I didn't know him :P

posted a message on Why do only 3 classes have secrets?

I think they fit thematically, although the name "secrets" doesn't make sense for some of them. Hunter secrets are obviously traps, and I think of Paladin secrets more as "blessings" or "seals." They don't have as many as they used to, but paladins in WoW used to have a lot of "trigger on <condition>" kind of spells they could keep up that would trigger at the right moment.

Agreed that secrets for rogues would make a lot of sense.

posted a message on I can't afford any of these new decks

This expansion has been out for 2 days and you are hoping to hit legend without spending cash? How many packs have you opened? I would imagine most legend-rank players have dropped $70 or had 100k gold saved up for packs at this point.

Crafting legend-worthy decks without spending money has always been a long-term effort. Dailies for gold, arena for packs, etc. Think about how long it took to build your 10k warrior deck, and cut that in half and you have a pretty good estimate for time to create a legend-worthy GvG deck.

If hitting legend fast is your only goal, you should be ready to pull out your wallet.

posted a message on Best way to get into the game

One thing I didn't realize for a while is that when you are first starting out, there is no reason not to start playing Ranked right away. Initially I was intimidated by the thought of playing against serious players in Ranked so I stuck to Casual. This is actually not a great idea! Ranks 25-20 are super easy, and you can't lose rank below 20 to boot, so there's literally nothing to lose.

Casual is where a lot of experienced players go to complete daily quests without losing (higher) ranks, so you can actually end up facing tougher opponents in Casual than lower Ranked. Also you fight a lot of gimmick decks and people will auto-concede as soon as the board is not in their favor, so it's not as good as Ranked for learning either.

Also as other people mentioned, if you think you are going to invest some time in Hearthstone, it's probably worthwhile to drop some cash on 20 or 40 packs. You will get a HUGE leg up on your card collection, which will give you way more freedom in terms of deck construction, and you might snag a couple legendaries too. If you really want to "go legend" (which just means achieving the highest ranks on the ladder), you will need some of these legendaries to be truly competitive, which could take months of quest farming and arena runs if you are determined to play for free. It's *possible* to reach Legend rank on free-to-play decks, but you need to be VERY good and spend a LOT of time on the ladder, especially against all the new Naxx cards.

Unless you turn out to be a beast at arena and regularly pull 8-12 wins, in which case you don't need our advice anyway :P

posted a message on [Nuba] The Tomorrow Lists!

I agree that undertaker will be a nice addition to zoo, but do you really think Zombie Chow is going to be viable? It seems like any turn after turn 1 or 2, that 5 heal is just too much of a liability for a deck that needs to burn an enemy down before big threats start coming out. Zombie Chow needs 3-4 turns to be net positive (3 attacks to face to overcome the heal for 5) and likely won't survive that long.

If anything I see Zombie Chow as anti-zoo

zoo is gonna be the number 1 deck again lol

There are 15 other cards one the way. There could easily be (I would say there probably is) a similar mechanic to counter zoo coming in that set.
