I once met a warlock in arena, once I was at something like 7-2, that was playing an absolutely suicidal draft, with three or four soulfires, hellfires and other insane creatures, but I had a good draft so I got rid of them quitte easily and he had something like 5 HP whereas I had around 25. He had a lot of cards that made him discard, so he taped a lot, and had maybe four or five cards remaining. I had total board control and was about to kill him on next turn when he played Deathwing. I put all  remaining creatures that I had in my hand on the board, expecting that he could do nothing to kill them all, but then he played Jaraxxus. I went like WHAT THE HELL BRO, never have I ever been so mad in arena

That seems like the warlock variation of what just happened to me plus the soulfires, etc. That's a pretty interesting match, probably even more so than mine considering mine was pretty normal up until Deathwing + Ysera. I presume you lost? Though him being at 15 HP and you at 25 and having probably 3+? creatures on the board means that you have a decent chance unless he starts clearing your board and taunting up while Deathwing wrecks your face, wasting Deathwing on board clearing duty seems so wasteful.

Play a couple hundred thousand hands of online poker (especially PLO) and you will never question RNG again.  I think chances of having 2 legendary picks in arena is ~5% so not that rare that someone has two...drawing them back to back at the right stage in the game is more rare but no more rare than any other two card combo which happens all the time.  If there were 10 cards left the chances of drawing them back to back is about 2.25%.  It's important to keep in mind that he probably had several other two card combinations that could have killed you.  So while you may have died to one "unlucky" draw, there were a lot of scenarios that could have played out.  Ex Pyro, fireball or charge + fireball etc.  All these different combinations on their own are rare but together make up a large percentage of possible outcomes.

I think you misread me and this post "It's important to keep in mind that he probably had several other two card combinations that could have killed you.  So while you may have died to one "unlucky" draw, there were a lot of scenarios that could have played out.", at no point did I say "Omg, I can't believe this! I just got beaten by a total noob that lucked out on his topdeck.", this is what I actually said "I thought I would share with everyone the crazy topdeck a guy just had in Arena against me.". I'm not questioning RNG, I'm praising RNJesus.

He definitely would have killed me with Fireball + Pyroblast but besides being only a common and an epic it's not nearly as shocking and interesting as Deathwing into Ysera. I would say that the game was in his favor regardless simply because the deck I had lacked strong late game.

How fun is it to win though like that? At the end of the day, if all is lost, play to that one possible out!

I don't know man, if I managed to pull such a play I would probably have a huge grin on my face while I wait for the opponent to concede.

I could have played it out in the hope of a Polymorph but I was already down to about half HP and the odds of me actually making a comeback were pretty slim. I lost my board to DeathwingBlood KnightDefender of ArgusFireball to get rid of it, and that was my entire hand. My topdeck after Ysera was Wild Pyromancer, I don`t see a comeback after this, even if I drew Polymorph the turn after.

Happens all the time. I was at 10 life vs warlock in arena with 11-2 record (he basically drafted a perfect zoo deck), he starts his turn with no cards in hand and I had lethal on board + 5 extra vs his empty board. He draws mortal coil and hits my 1 hp minion and draws, taps then plays leeroy + power overwhelming for the win. There are tons of "bad beat" stories created every minute.

Wow, really impressive as well, but he could have just drawn Power Overwhelming + Lifetap Leeroy Jenkins, the other way around, Leeroy Jenkins + Soulfire, etc. Drafting Deathwing and Ysera in Arena is pretty crazy by itself but then actually making use of both of them in 2 consecutive turns in the ONLY combination that works is what makes this insane to me. Maybe it's not as crazy as I first thought though.

I thought I would share with everyone the crazy topdeck a guy just had in Arena against me. Mage vs Mage, my opponent had board control for the first half of the game but I had managed to take it from him... until he topdecks Deathwing (which I could deal with) and next turn topdecks Ysera (which I couldn't deal with right after Deathwing).

The luck involved in this is insane, he managed to draft at least 2 of the best arena legendaries AND topdeck them turn 10+ one after another in the right order. When it happened I actually stared at the screen with my mouth open in awe for some 20 seconds before hitting the concede button. Does anyone know of a more extraordinary series of events than this?

    12-2 Arena Mage
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (22) Ability (8)

Not the most OP mage deck, just mostly solid cards, a good curve and of course two copies of both Fireball and Polymorph. Most times I managed to hold board control for the entirety of the game but for a couple of them in which I regained it with my sole Flamestrike. Pyroblast was only ever used in a single game early on in the run, and I would have won that game regardless, I only drafted it because my other options were terrible (Murloc Warleader and Ice Block).

    The draft: http://arenamastery.com/PqWf

MVP was Cult Master, good usage of the card guaranteed the win in half of the games, honorable mention to Counterspell which saved me a good amount of times. A nice combo that I managed to pull off in 3 games against Warriors and Paladins was Freeze from Water Elemental + Cult MasterCounterspell making it pretty much impossible for them to get rid of my Cult Master.

Reward was 330 gold, 1 golden common and 1 pack.

    looks like a constructed deck.

i'd say 8-12 wins. definitely somewhere high, this deck is really good.

Ended up going 10-3. Pretty good prediction, right in between the 2 numbers you said.

I feel like it could have gone 12 even though the games showed that the deck really needed card draw, by the end of most games I would have an empty or near empty hand.
The first loss was just really bad luck, 3 flamestrikes, 2 fireballs and ragnaros were all on the bottom 15 cards, I didn't see any of them the entire game and a single flamestrike could have changed the game back around.
The second one was really close, I had my opponent on 1 life if I fired both fireballs in my hand at his face but that wasn't enough to kill him so I had to try to control the board being on 8 life myself and him having a war golem on the board, next turn he swarmed the board and I didn't have a flamestrike to clear it.
The third was pretty ridiculous, I died to an Amani Berserker that I couldn't get rid of, my opponent coined it turn one, enraged it with a mad bomber turn two and beat me up every turn removing everything I threw on the board with spells or other minions until I finally managed to flamestrike it -and only it- when I was down to 5 hp, but at that point pretty much anything could kill me. A single silence or frostbolt would have stopped all that nonsense

The decks are pretty similar indeed. On that thread you mentioned usually not getting a third Flamestrike, that was one of the picks where I really struggled. I LOVE clerics but I felt like I already had enough small minions, if it was something like a Boulderfist/Venture co vs Flamestrike I probably wouldn't have picked a 3rd flamestrike.

You have a point about the card draw, unfortunately the only card draw I was offered was on pick #18 Acolyte of Pain. I'm not a fan of Acolyte of Pain, especially when it's Acolyte of Pain vs Harvest Golem. A Cult Master would have been good though.

After playing a number of arenas earlier today with druid without big taunts or swipes, a couple of paladins without equality/consecration or truesilvers and mages without fireballs/flamestrikes I finally seem to have been able to put together a decent deck! The biggest problems that I see with this deck are the lack of poly/frostbolt and an almost non-existent lategame besides Ragnaros and a Venture co. The deck also lacks silence, I got offered an Owl at #8 but I figured I would probably get a spellbreaker later on.

    Here is the deck:

Do you think I should have drafted it differently? How far do you think it will go?
