posted a message on Most Annoying sound in Hearthstone?

The one that always scares the shit out of me, is Windfury Harpy. I swear her volume is set to 11 and just deafens you the moment she gets dropped onto the board.

The only other annoying sounds can be some of the Hero emotes, but that's mostly because of how they tend to have a double meaning. Jaina saying "Hello." just as she Pyroblasts your face is particulary annoying.

Ever since they added in the bonus stars to a new season, I've found it's been harder to get in those "bonus" wins from rank 25-20 too

You don't get an extra win towards your ranked wins/500 when on a win streak

When I say that, I mean that when everyone started back at rank 25 you'd need to win 15 games without win streaks to climb back up to rank 20. That's 15 less wins towards me getting my Golden Rogue, that would have been relativly easy since the lower ranks tend to be against newer players. Still, i'm now at 190 wins and climbing!

I think last season I ended at rank 9, so began at rank 18 this season. I used to run Miracle Rogue, but now i've been playing with Malygos Rogue and prefering it. It's a little annoying that I've basically missed out on about 5-10 "free" wins on the road from 25-20 but it's still fairly easy to get wins at lower ranks anyways.

There just needs to be three people on your subnet and you need to play 3 games. You can either play with the same person three times or play with different people three times. It doesn't matter. (I have it)

If you have nearby players enabled you should see a nearby players list at the bottom of your friend list. Other than that I think they can still be on your friends list although I removed them just to be safe.

I think there's been a bug where if the person you're trying to play against is on your friends list they won't show up on the near-by players list. I had this problem when using Sandbox, so had to make all 3 accounts un-friend one another.

From what I know, I believe you need to play against 3 DIFFERENT people to get the card back. Doesn't matter if you win or lose :)

You need three people total on the near-by players list, but you can play against the same person three times. That's how I did it with the Sandbox method posted on Reddit. I created three different accounts and had all three of them appear on the same near-by players list. I then had my main account battle and turn 1 concede vs just one other account.

The only two accounts that got the card back, were the two that faught one another. The spare one, needed to complete the third slot didn't unlock anything.

The seasonal card backs basically just mean "yeah I played in that season". They aren't meant to illustrate that you were some sort of uber player, they just demonstrate that yes, you were around in April 2014 when the game was just officially launched. Seems pretty meaningless now, but imagine how you'll feel about that Pandaria card back in five years time if Hearthstone follows a similar growth to WoW, for instance.

You're speaking as if the pandaria card back is some kind Insane title. Everyone has it. It is meaningless. It's like everyone starting off with a brown mule mount in WoW.

Everyone who played Season one has it. Anyone joining the game from now onwards cannot physically obtain the Pandari card back unless Blizzard adds another means to obtain it, which I doubt they will. It dosn't matter how hard or easy it was to obtain, it's a mark of dedication to the game.

I've got a golden chest medal and a gold halo for my characters in Team Fortress 2. The medal you got if you'd originally brought the game in the first few months when it came out and the halo was for not cheating/duping or some such during a time when it was super easy to do so. I wear those items nearly all the time if I play that game as it's a mark of how long I've been playing it for, despite how bad I am at the game :P

The card backs are just like WoW mounts, but they're more like the White Raptor than a Brown Mule.

What I can see happening though (and it probably already is with the Legendary back), is that when people are using the Season 1-3 card backs in a years time it's going to be met with words of dirision towards those players along of the lines of "Heh, what a loser! He's been playing this game for soooo long, what a massive noob! Don't you have a life?".

the red card back is awful. it's literally a participation ribbon. I dont even use it. going to grind out legendary this season and be done with ranked until better incentives (didnt have time to grind last month due to school)

It's funny how so many people are using the Pandari back now though, despite how gaudy it looks. When it's in the card back selection viewer it's quite nice, but in game the gold is so damn bright and really jars with the normally muted tones of the game boards. Even the Fireside back can look a little bright, with the way the window panes glow but at least it's got a dark brown border.

I like that they havn't made the backs too hard to obtain, except for the Legendary one of course. It allows players to show off how long they've been playing the game for which has a certain amount of prestige attatched to it. I know I can see my Rogue using the Black Temple back constantly as it really suits the class colours, but this will mean in say 6 months or a years time other players will know I was around when Season 2 ended as well.

If they start to add in backs that involve going to or viewing Blizzcon i'll be annoyed. It's kind of annoying that you can't get 100% of the Golden cards without attending the last one, but at least it's only cosmetic.

posted a message on Help with Miracle Rogue?

Thalnos is there not only as card draw, but also as spell damage. You could use a Loot Horder, or a Kobold Geomancer, or even an Accoylte of Pain. Edwin can be swapped out for either a Questing Adventurer, or a Mana Addict but both are generally more vunerable to removal and help if you can combo them with a Conceal.

It depends on what class you're playing against if it's worth keeping an Auctioneer in your hand or not. If you're going 2nd vs a Warrior or maybe even a Druid it's worth keeping, espcially if you draw into Conceal or Preperation. Even against a Hunter this can work, since he needs minions on the field to pull off an Unleash, so not playing many minions on turns 1-5 and then playing an Auctioneer can be good (just watch out for Deadly Shot).

Against Zoo or FaceHuntard it's more skewed in their favor. Miracle Rogue works well late game, where both those decks work very well early game. Against a Warlock it's always good to hold onto a Blade Flurry though, as come turn 5 you can Dagger, Deadly Poison and Blade Flurry for a 3 damage board removal.

posted a message on How much gold are you saving up for Curse of Naxxramas?

I've got about 1200 gold right now. I did have another 1000 saved up, but splurged on the Arena and from all the packs I earnt from Arena I had enough dust to craft a Slyvannas. Almost wish I didn't bother now and had kept my gold, but at least that day of playing Arena was fun!

The thing that worrys me the most is that the PvE stuff is all going to be time based. If you don't buy those wings, you're going to be locked out of that experience for good. If each wing is 500 gold it'll be amazing since i'll easily have enough by the time it's out. Even at 1000 a wing, that's 1 or 2 wings for "free" and depending on the cash price I might buy another.

I really hate spending money on "free to play" games, since you don't really own anything and normally they're pretty transitory, though so far it seems that Hearthstone is here to stay.

Some mechanics in HS use stack resolving, some use FIFO queue, and some use transaction resolving. It is inconsistent as hell, you just have to remember it.

I had that happen to me earlier. Oponent has a Cairne out, so I play my Slyvannas. On his turn he plays swipe to get her down to 4 HP, then charges the Cairne into her. Now you'd think that since Cairne was played first and attacked first his Deathrattle would go off first. No. Sylvannas atempts to steal a minion, but since Cairne hasn't resolved I got nothing and he kept the Baine.

I was losing anyways, so it didn't really matter, but it made me salty as fuck since I'd just been on a 4-5 loss streak with that Rogue deck of mine :(

Anything not directly related to the game goes to Offtopic, which includes technical inquiries. Moved your thread there. :)

Ah, thanks ^^ Would have put it in a techincal/support section if I could, but that's more appropriate for the Blizzard forums really.

posted a message on Can you force Hearthstone to load, without having the launcher pop up?

This isn't related to the new Fireside card back, but it's been a huge bug-bear of mine. I get that Blizzard forces you to use the launcher to keep their games up to date. I get that you need the launcher running before a game starts. What I don't get, is that right clicking on the Battle.net launcher and then left clicking Hearthstone dosn't just run the game! You're forced to open the launcher, then click play for no reason other than that's how it's done.

Now, after getting the Fireside card back earlier today using a sandbox method, it asks you to add -launch to the boot command of the Hearthstone.exe. This then forces the game to load without having to click on the Play button inside the launcher, though you do need the launcher running in the background. I've tryed doing this with the normal game and Hearthstone just crashes every time.

TL;DR - Can you make Hearthstone load without having to click on the "Play" button on the Battle.net launcher every time? If you can, how do you do this?

There is a way to get it by yourself using this method: http://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/240nrr/tutorial_how_to_get_fireside_cardbacks_with/

It WILL take you about half an hour at best to get it, but since this is a limited "item" it's quite worth it.

I do recommend that anyone who wants to do that do follow it STEP BY STEP if you want it to go as smoothly as possible.

I followed that guide this morning and it took me about 30 minutes tops, after ballsing it up once and having to restart.

The part near the end where it tells you to open up the Hearthstone.exe on the desktop should be opened in sandbox mode, but it's not worded very well, as it tells you to open the .exe and then tells you it must be in sandbox mode. Also running the sandbox in "Run Outside Sandbox" mode was the only way I could get it to work, "Default" would always mean the 2nd instance of Heartstone crashed.

With those tips, you should have the card back in no time ^^

    Used this guide, worked perfectly

Just used this guide and it worked perfectly! The only part that is a little difficult is the final few steps as it's not worded very well. When it asks you to run the hearthstone.exe with the -launch edit, you have to run it in sandbox mode both times. Also running them "outside" the sandbox is better than the "default" setting as the "default" for me kept making Hearthstone crash.

If anyone gets stuck using that guide and needs a hand, message me here if you don't feel like asking stuff in that Reddit thread, and i'll be glad to help!
