    "WHEREVER IT IS."

    But what if it... isn't?

C'Thun literally ceases to exist if he dies. Poof. Gone. 404 Does Not Exist. ResurrectSummon a random friendly minion that died this game. The original C'Thun, mechanic-wise, is still gone. The C'Thun-buffing minions have nothing to buff because C'Thun is gone. Resurrect looks at the friendly minions that died this game; let's say we have Dr. Boom, Wisp, Magma Rager and C'Thun. Random choice and the claw chooses C'Thun. Next, C'Thun is summoned. C'Thun now exists, so now C'Thun can recieve buffs.

Wouldn't he still be a 10/10? Because he keeps his buff even when returned to hand, so presumably also while dead, but I doubt he receives buffs while dead.

Why not ? It says 'wherever it is' so the graveyard should be still a valid place to receive buffs for him.
Except he's not in the graveyard - he's nonexistent. The graveyard isn't a place in Hearthstone - resurrect 'summons a random minion that died this game'. In other words it summons another C'Thun, so it would either be a 6/6 or a 10/10 in this scenario.

On a slightly related note, what would happen if you had two or more C'Thuns in your deck / hand / board (e.g. Unstable Portal, Entomb to get another one). Would both get buffed, or one? If one, is it random?

    My entry this week:

    Succubi Temptress

Seems balanced. Fits the warlock as succubi are very good at 'persuading' enemies to change their allegiance. Of course, like all demons, it might not do exactly as you tell it to...

posted a message on Class Creation Competition - Worlds Beyond Warcraft [Phase I Submission]

My entry: from Fire Emblem, the Tactician class, represented by Robin. (a.k.a. Avatar of Fire Emblem: Awakening)

Robin is the tactician of a militia group, the Shepherds, and plans out their battle strategies, winning fights that would seem impossible, such as against a navy with twice as many men, or against a dragon feared as a god. He is as such seen as a genius for many of his ideas, and by the end of the story his exploits have gone down in legend.

    Robin

Next, the Tactician keyword: Uses: (X), with X as a number, means that at the end of a turn on which you played a card(s) with Uses above 0, that card is returned to your hand (provided you have space) and X is reduced by 1.

Since the Tactician can use their cards so many times, the problem arises that they can end up with too many cards to play, and get milled. Thus, cards must be managed tactically to avoid this. The other consequence of the Uses mechanic is that, while other classes may run out of cards in fatigue, the Tactician can keep going for much longer due to their long-lasting cards (and their hero power, next to be shown).

The hero power for the Tactician:

    Thunder!

The uncollectable spell Thunder, generated by the hero power:

    Thunder

This allows the Tactician to gain the advantage later in the game when card draw is scarce and in fatigue when it is non-existent, though in the early game the hero power has little use.

While in theory you could save up many Thunder spells using your hero power (by turn 4 you could have 5 Thunders in your hand, 6 with the Coin), since you would need to use each spell three turns in a row to get them out of your hand, this would make you easily susceptible to milling.

And finally, the example cards, Chrom, Counter and Soldier:

    Chrom

    Summoned: "My strength is yours!"

    Attack: "Your end has come!"

    Death: "Gods... hngh..."

While in theory, Chrom's effect is very powerful, since the main weakness of the Tactician is to milling, Chrom actually increases that weakness. (As for why Chrom provides his effect, in Fire Emblem: Awakening he provided adjacent and paired allies with access to the convoy.)

In fatigue, however, Chrom has to be dealt with by the opponent or the Tactician can survive for even longer.

    Counter

A secret! Slightly better than Eye for an Eye, since the enemy hero cannot simply attack with a 1 attack minion and take 1 damage themself, rather the minion is the one taking the damage, and many 1 attack minions don't have a high health in the first place. Conversely, attacking with a high attack minion will deal a lot of damage to that minion.

    Soldier

The 1 mana 1/3 of the Tactician. In this case, the effect is that the turn after playing the Soldier, who can trade with various 1 health minions (e.g. Leper Gnome), another one can be played.

That is all on the Tactician for this phase. I hope you all liked my idea and I manage to get throught to the next round!

    My entry for this week:

    Summon Felhunter

And the minion it summons, which is very relevant to the overall effect of the card:

    Felhunter

Flavour text: This DEFINITELY can't go wrong. He's such a good little dog!

    My entry for this week:

    Annihilan Commander

    Play: Tremble before the Legion!

Attack: Death to all who oppose us!

    Death: *Incomprehensible groan*

Can be played on turn 7 for similar value to Fearsome Doomguard (except vulnerable to Big Game Hunter), but on turn 8 (or any other even numbered turn) he effectively casts Consecration as well.

My entry for this week, the huge:

    Unstable Elemental

Just about fits the three line rule. Seems balanced, since it's a 9 mana 10/10, but can't attack, and instead deals 2 damage to all characters at the end of your turn, unless silenced in which case it's just a 10/10 (since the end of turn effect is also silenced, similar to Ragnaros the Firelord.)

I imagine the animation as the same as Hellfire, but centered on this minion instead.

posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition #36 - Submission Topic. [CLOSED]

    My submission for this week:

    Return of the Damned

    And the summoned minion:

    Risen Soldier

Note that by last turn, it means your opponent's turn that just passed.

Since there's no death knight class and neutral minions frequently fit a Scourge / Forsaken / general undead theme, this would fit right in! As for balance, to get two 2/2s for a total of 4/4 for 4 mana, at least two minions must have died, which is in line with cards that cost 1 less for each minion that died this turn (Dragon's Breath, Volcanic Drake and Solemn Vigil), although this applies to the last turn.

    My entry for this week:

    Demonic Conversion

Note that if the minion already has a tribe, it is replaced, giving this to break synergy in non-Demon tribe decks. As with many warlock cards, it has both an advantage and a disadvantage to the warlock - it could harm your opponent, or it could harm you... for more than usual. Also means the opponent has to consider carefully whether or not to attack with the minion. Truly a double-edged sword.

    My entry for this week:

    Soulburn

Note that you're not discarding a card randomly - you get to choose which card you discard, but unlike Doomguard and Succubus, you do need to have a card to play it. Has synergy with Fist of Jaraxxus and amazing synergy with Molten Giant if you draw it early on (not so much later since if the card's cost has been reduced this card deals the reduced damage).

    My entry this week:

    Destructive Summoning

Seems balanced. Note that effects that prevent damage will mean that minion isn't counted, e.g. Divine Shield and Immune. Also, if there are no minions for that cost, you get a mighty Worthless Imp!

My entry for this week, the one, the only:

    "Captain" Cookie

Was in the game in vanilla: http://www.wowhead.com/npc=645/cookie but has since promoted himself to captain.

Seems balanced considering in terms of stats it's worth 3 mana, and since it's unlikely your own murloc will die during your first turn, this will probably be summoned at turn 2 earliest, which seems fair for a legendary. Alternatively, if you just want a terrible value charge minion, then here you go.

posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition [Special Edition] - Merchant Submission Topic [REVIEW PHASE, UP-VOTING ONLY]

My entry for this week in the Merchant Portion:

    Bilgewater Crabrider

He charges a rather high price for his services, but if he wins his joust he may simply forget about it in his excitement!

Fits the Grand Tournament theme in two ways: it uses the joust mechanic, and its a 2 mana minion, which all classes except for Paladin got in Grand Tournament, and fits the Merchant theme with the Salary.
