I've also recently started Shadowverse after playing Hearthstone since it first came out, and I really like the gameplay.  There are definitely some overpowered cards there (i.e. Daria) and cards that involve RNG (i.e. Nepthythys), but as a whole, the strategy element of the game is a lot more rewarding and rich than that of Hearthstone.

The class identity of each of the classes is well fleshed out as well, other than Bloodcraft & Dragoncraft.  It's nice to play a game that actually rewards smart play over simply getting a lucky dice roll.

The art is a hit-or-miss.  The anime style and overly gratuitous boob/ass shots are a little off-putting to me when it is tacked on, but for certain cards like Queen Vampire, the art is gorgeous.

posted a message on A Brief Look Into the Hearthstone Expansion & Adventure Set Design Process

Every time Max McCall tries to explain the design process, it all just sounds like damage control.  There are so many things that him and Ben Brode say that sound totally ignorant (i.e. Brode saying he expects the meta to slow down, McCall discussing non-existent class themes that Rogue and Priests have), and it's infuriating to see such an awesome game go to waste.

It may be Weebstone, but at least Shadowverse has depth and identity that Hearthstone is devoid of.

So instead of offering an an actual reason for why this is useful, you throw up a strawman argument.  Typical.

Priests need a card that will stick to the board so their Hero Power gets value.  That's what they need.  The reason why Priests are terrible is because their Hero Power only gives value in the late game.  By that time, they're often dead, and the Hero Power is just a delay tactic.

I remember playing a Giblin Stalker + Velen's Chosen deck a year ago, and that didn't work because it was, as usual, reliant on a combo to be effective.  What Priests need is a 2-drop on the same level as Shielded Minibot, or else the same issues will crop up: Priests have by far, the worst Hero Power in the early game.

posted a message on New Priest Card Reveal: Mana Geode

I just don't see how this is a useful card.

    Three reasons:

    1) Every single class that is prominent in the meta has a clean way to deal 3 damage.  A 2-mana 2/3 with no immediate effect is way too slow in this meta.  If it doesn't have an immediate board impact like Totem Golem or Alexstraza's Champion, or a Deathrattle effect like Kindly Grandmother, it won't get any value or tempo.  There's a reason why Chillwind Yetis and Water Elementals see no play.  The game is all about tempo, and this is the antithesis of a tempo card.

Looking at the four most common classes on ladder at the moment and their counters:

Shaman: Lightning Bolt, Spirit Claws, Totem Golem

Warrior: Fiery War Axe, Alexstraza's Champion

Mage: Frostbolt, Flamewaker/Sorcerer's Apprentice/Mana Wyrm shenanigans

    Warlock: Flame Imp, Darkbomb

It may sound like whining, but I don't see any reason why this card would see play if Wyrmrest Agent, which is more impactful, didn't lift Priest from being the worst class in the game.  It's simply too slow for this meta.

    2) Even if you were able to activate the card's effect, the payoff is still a tempo loss.  Why would someone waste 1-mana on turn 3 to summon a 2/2 instead of developing the board with a 3-drop?  What does it exactly accomplish?  It's one of those cards that looks good in theory, but in actual gameplay, will do nothing to move the needle on turn 2 for Priest.  Again, tempo is everything in the game now, and even in the best case scenario, this card doesn't deliver any of that.

    3) It's an epic, for goodness sake.  Why are Shielded Minibot and Firelands Portal commons, and this isn't?  I swear the designers don't understand anything about arena when they make these cards, and it's a slap to the face to a class that needs a huge amount of help both in Play Mode and in Arena.
