posted a message on Can We Talk About nerfing C'Thun For a Hot Second?

I picked "other" because I think C'Thun is a perfectly balanced deck for any class, but I have a different problem with it. My problem is that it is a deck-enabling legendary given to all players for free. This makes almost any new player immediately work towards a C'Thun deck because hey why not, it's a sensible goal. When I began climbing this May season, I played probably 75% C'Thun decks in the lower ranks, 25-15. It was just incredibly stale and totally over-saturated. The card isn't OP broken, it's just accessible for new players/f2p players, which leads to seeing way too much of it at low level play. That being said, it almost completely disappears below rank 10, I only see C'Thun warrior at rank 3 and that is a rare occurrence. For casual/new players, I can see playing against C'Thun decks every other game for an entire season as very fatiguing.

It's kinda sad that most deck archetypes will still function without these cards (aside from reno) but in shaman's case totem decks will just be 100% removed from standard...which is a shame because totems were a cool and unique synergy that only shaman had access to. Even if it was really strong and annoying, shaman was so bad for so long and it's just sad to see him get sent back to the shadow realm again :(

That's....an odd marketing strategy. Why remove single player content that doesn't affect the PvP game at all? Just let people play the adventure and earn the cards for wild/casual. Any insight as to their thought process would be interesting to hear.

posted a message on [84% Winrate] Totem Shaman - Easy Climb

    My changes were:

-1 Doomhammer +1 Hammer of Twilight (explained above)

-1 Lightning Storm +1 Harrison Jones (Facing more control warrior than zoo at high levels, but considering putting 2nd storm back in for something else because of face shaman and aggro pally)

-1 Rockbiter Weapon +1 Lightning Bolt (Don't need rockbiter for Doomhammer synergy anymore and Lightning Bolt synergizes with Tunnel Trogg as well as being able to bypass taunts and not requiring you to take damage to use it)

-1 Argent Squire +1 Stormcrack (Reconsidering whether this is worth it or not. Argent is so strong with Flametongue Totem to beat turn 1 1/3 drops, and Stormcrack lacks face damage)

I think it's just in my nature to want to play more of a midrange/control style even when it's not a midrange/control deck, hence the Hammer of Twilight and Stormcrack.

With a complete lack of heals in this deck HP is a very valuable resource, and I often find myself taking 10 damage killing a 4hp minion with Doomhammer rather than only having to take 5 damage with Hammer of Twilight. True, a 4/2 minion isn't amazing, but it usually eats a spell or minion which is great value for something you didn't actually spend mana or a card on. I don't mean to undervalue Doomhammer at all, that card kicks butt. I simply found myself getting punished for using it more often than not when I hit the higher ranks.

Considering dropping Stormcrack again after all because I often find myself with a lack of finisher damage, which Stormcrack is useless for.

This deck did well for me up until rank 5, but then I hit a wall. Never been ranked this high before so I'm not sure what went wrong. Either the meta changed, people learned to play against the deck due to its popularity, or the grind just gets hella hard at rank 5 for any deck. I'm not an amazing player by any means but probably have a 65% win rate with this deck, which is good enough to climb slowly.

I switched out Doomhammer for Hammer of Twilight because I was getting wrecked by Harrison Jones too often. Twilight is great against Harrison because he only gets 1 card draw and you still get your 4/2 minion which can kill Harrison. I also put in a Harrison Jones of my own to counter the plethora of mirror matchups who run Doomhammer and the insane amount of control warriors. Warrior and shaman are by far the most played against classes for me, and it is DULL. I threw in a Stormcrack as well because it deals with 4 health minions more reliably than 25% chance to get spell damage totem with lightning bolt, and can deal with 5 health minions like Thing from Below, saving you a precious Hex for real fatties.

posted a message on Should I go with a popular deck or stick with my own?

Pretty much any viable legend-reaching deck has already been discovered thanks to the pitifully small card pool even with the release of Naxx. This makes it really hard for original decks to perform well because you will begin to notice that your "original" deck will slowly get modified to look exactly like any netdeck because netdecks are simply the best there currently is. It kinda sucks as a former MTG player where there was so much deck variety and multiple win conditions, but I've come to enjoy hearthstone's singularity in a way. It's nice knowing each and every card in your opponent's deck after their first turn and then being able to plan 4-5 turns in advance to play around their cards. I actually get mad when my opponent plays a card that doesn't belong in the deck they're playing (even if the card sucks) because I didn't plan for it and it screwed me over. (Like the handlock running x2 mind control techs today....)

Yes, this has been seen many times before, and it is something that Blizzard is working to resolve. It just had to take a back-seat to more pressing matters like the pyro-accolyte-tracking bug and Naxx.

I just thought it was funny and had never seen anything about it before lol. I agree it's not a very important issue, almost worth leaving in for teh lulz :D
