I am not very excited for this expansion, but it is not because of powerlevel but because of the lack of imaginative cards.
There are not so many cards that I really look forward to experimenting with that can give exciting results. Cards like zephrys, kazakus, master oakhearth, shudderwock, ysera unleashed, Da undatakah, medivh the guardian, janalai dragonhawk, lynessa sunsorrow, elise trailblazer.
just a selection of cards of varying powerlevel but that were fun to try out and experiment with. That did something that you either had to set up or was in some form unexpected without being broken.
In this expansion I miss these kind of cards, there are some cars like some primes that are nice in that regard but I miss my Timmy '''Wow!' factor. Lady liadrin and some librams are nice.
Edit: I just looked over at the neutral cards and they lack this especially. the legendaries are underwhelming and all other cards lack imagination....
Zapp is essential anti baron or kadgar tech to win the last 2/3 fights if your opponant has him. Addapting your murlocs is a win condition forgot the name of the beast. Foereaper can be a winner in a mech deck and is a great brann replacement for the last fights. Ghascoiler/sneeds provides winning value/durability with kadgar or barron rivendare. Kangors apprentice is the same but for mech decks. Maexxna is esstential snipe to replace for example brann or if they have a big minion you can't get past
They essentially are all focused on winning the last fights or completing your build which is a good thing. I like the idea for addition though, there definitely could be some:
Though I think hadronox would be overpowered if the taunts keep the buffs, and indeed no faceless manip. Gazhrilla and grimestreet protector also seem like good additions.
Your assumption is that everyone plays to ladder up instead of playing to have a fun match.
My fun doesn't depend on my win %, yet I don't consider myself a noob. I know how to play the decks that I play, I just choose not to play the optimal decks for the meta if they are not fun to me.
So yes playing against a deck that is not a fun matchup (to me combo decks, highroll decks and super agro decks) generally is not very fun. And if they are rampant more than my treshhold then I will quit HS for the day or switch from wild to standard or go battlegrounds.
I dont like grumble and think its very cheesy but I love shudderwock. And without it lifedrinker isn't viable.
So i play a reno version with Banker and Zola in combination with doppelgangster of course. Play the quest, get a thaurissan tick on shudderwock so you can hero power and play it.
Then get a big heal plus board impact through dirty rat, twin tyrant, troll batrider and mostly Siamat & twilight drake to have strong shudderwocks often with taunt left on board.
Hero power after quest plus dirty rat is often enough to defeat any combo decks. And shudderwock gives it another chance. Other cards are supportive for board impact like loatheb, dragonqueen alex, zephrys, ooze and loats of drawcards and boardclears/poly effects.
as a deathrattle it would be a lot better but even with a battlecry this could work as a counter to big priest, quite a lot of 1 drops are 1/1 that spawn another token so the ressurect pool can be very contaminated. But is that enough to be played?
This does need an immediate boardclear to be able to play against agro or the like

I assume you can target the first minion but not to which side the next 3 damage goes.
Looks like a decent card but not super strong. maybe for a quest shaman or shudderwock variant in wild

Vargoth is a problematic card, it is fine in a lot of cases but completely broken in others.
This interaction is over the top in wild, a 2-card combo to win the game even through iceblock.

I don't really see a practical use for it...
For two more mana you can usually remove something extra with a more flexible spell

League of explorers. With Whispers of the Old Gods as runner up.
WotOG had some problems but also a lot of fantastic and fun cards, I still have many a N'zoth deck in wild.

yeah for 10 mana and with 1 lackey in hand you can already fill the board with this and 6 lackeys so this combo doesn't really cut it for me.

Withouth deathralles this is too slow and easily countered.
Maybe a niche card in a value quest deck but not a staple

THere was a vast mayority that hated playing against this very fast (unreasonable fast) agro deck that get's flashbacks now
