Hmmm... I wouldn't say it is hard in the sense that you don't know what to do against them. You know how to avoid them, they just sometimes put you in a pickle.
And a bunch of them are countered with the same strat: you usually play the lowest cost minion or least useful spell. WHICH IS A GOOD THING when it come to this card.
Patches have been useful in my games but I dont think it's a must. Put in stonetusk if you want to directly replace him. Also, if you don't have patches, even though the corsairs are good against pirate warriors, you can replace them with houndmaster which the deck at this state doesn't have room for. Houndmaster is almost a must for all hunter decks from what i hear. Feel free to let me know if hounmaster worked out for you or you wish you had more 1 drops instead.
It does give more control over your card but when I think about it, there isn't a whole lot of thinking you can do when playing a simple adapt card like Verdant Longneck . It seems straightforward in many situations: board empty, choose the best stat buff. Board threatened, choose +3 attack or "destroy any minion damaged by this". The more interesting thing I can think of is when against a mage or priest, you choose (if you are offered that is) "can't be targeted by spells". That'd be a nice on the spot answer. What do you think? Feel free to agree or disagree :)
PS: I do actually like the keyword. I'm just hoping the adapt cards are much more powerful and interesting than Verdant Longneck.

If a bunch of the secrets accomplish the same task, then the odds of you discovering "the right one" is higher. For instance, Mana Bind, Counterspell and Spellbender KINDA achieve the same thing. And Explosive Runes, Potion of Polymorph and Mirror Entity all serve to neutralize a threat if that makes sense.

What do you think about replacing one Shadow Visions with Shadow Word: Death and Elise the Trailblazer with Ysera or Obsidian Statue?

This deck would fucking wreck secret/murloc paladin.
