I unfortunately lost a game due to the bug right after the patch hit. It just disconnects you and when you try to resume it disconnects again. I had to restart completely.
Remember when Millhouse was a trash tier hero, and then making it so he started with three coins instead of two made him top tier?
My point is, even the smallest advantage adjustment can create big swings in how well a player does. I think a four player team taking on solos is going to have a strong advantage.
I've found in the current meta, leveling up your tavern tier quickly is more important. People seem to be getting to high tier more quickly. Basically, don't stick to a strategy in the early game. Just go for maximum stats and level up quickly, then transition to your final game plan.
Like others posting here, I would build your gold up until the new Hearthstone year and buy lots of the new packs then. You should be able to build some good decks from that. Be sure to also get your weekly Tavern Brawl packs.
But you still comment on the forum of a game you don't play anymore. What you going to do next? Write a bad yelp review for a restaurant you don't go to? Such a fulfilling life...
So what are you asking me to do? Stop playing? Write a strongly worded letter to Blizzard? Start my own YouTube channel to complain about the game? I enjoy the game and weighing up the amount of money I have paid to the literal hundreds, if not thousands of hours I have played the game in commutes over the past six years, I don't consider the value to be terrible. It's literally less than the amount I would have spent on one coffee per week.
What have you done to push the devs to change other than trying to put down other players on Hearthpwn?
While it is a legitimate argument for gamers to complain that devs aren't using resources to improve a game, I don't think it holds water here.
Hearthstone is being updated and changed more frequently than ever before. So certainly battle grounds hasn't lessened hotfixes and updates.
Also, the OP's post does come across as intentionally condescending, like he is trying to insinuate that you have to ibe a five year old to enjoy BG. It's simple, if you like it, play it. If you don't, don't. But the fact HS devs are releasing new modes is always a good thing. If no one plays BG, the mode will disappear, but I would say it's actually getting the game a lot of traffic.
I don't understand what "balance" means in relation to a Brawl. I get what balance means with a card or deck, meaning it being too over or underpowered... but in a brawl, everyone is on the same playing field right?

Why are you even here?

Mind Render Illucia is a really good counter to it. You can play her and empty the druid hand of all its low cost spells

You haven't failed. You just found a hundred ways that don't work. Practice makes perfect.

I think a card for disabling quests is a bit too and a bit too 'feels bad', as those decks are often built a round the quest.
However, maybe a card with something like "Your opponents quest will fail in three turns" could be more balanced and add a fun sense of tension.

For the battlecry, I would say one or the other. Both is too much.

Also being a Gwent player, I do think that game provides more value for money. Also more of the cards are more viable in more in more of the decks.
Having said that, OP is way too self righteous. Way to go blaming the rest of the player because you're having a bad time.

"What!? You're playing a game just because you find it FUN!? What are you doing?"
