posted a message on Returning to HS after a year or so

    Hi guys,

I've been away from HS for a year or so and I wanted to get back into it recently. The last expansion I really played was Descend of Dragons, later I played a few games of Outland and tried the new Demon Hunter, but mostly did Battlegrounds. After that I lost interest in the game. Seeing now how it changed a bit I would like to pick HS up again.

So can anyone tell me what are the major changes so far? I don't understand the whole Core thing, what cards are now the mainstain no matter the year, what cards should I invest in, is it worth to buy the Welcoming bundle or what's its name and so on. Any tips are appriciated.

Yes, it happened to me in one of the first few games right after launch of RoS. Never experienced it ever again.

You can't have that many minions in the deck. Most reliable way would be to have just muckmorper pull out Tempest, give it windfury and then some attack buffs. It costs too much and you can't pull it off in standard.

So far I've enoucountered several Murloc Palis with my Highlander Paladin and beat them every time. I did have decent draws though and many times I've won thanks to Nozari.

I like Annoy-o and Siamat, makes sense though cutting Lay on Hands seems like too much of a loss of healing and card draw. I have my doubts about Call to Adventure as it will most likely draw you Doomsayer, Pyro or something like that which are like throwayway cards. And buffing the Doomsayer is a disaster. Prhaps Witchwood piper would be better. It really needs some playtesting.

posted a message on Highlander Paladin

Eversince we got all the Uldum cards I was really liking, obssessed almost, with Highlander Paladin deck. While Sir Finley is not such a good card like other LoE heroes, it does bring some value. My reasoning behind the deck is this:

You need a good wincondition, right? Something reliable. Recycling Da Undatakah is a good thing Palis can pull off, I really liked Roger's grindy deck he brought some time ago to a major event. It was supposed to outvalue Warriors that are still a big part of meta. You grind out your oponnent and stave off fatigue. And even if your oponnent is not able to kill it repeatedly in the lategame, that just means you hit them for 8 dmg every turn, fatigue or no fatigue. Only problem is that Undatakah is weak to silence and polymorph effect. Only decks that are played and use such things are maybe Control War, Reno Mage and Shaman. So why not have two Undatakahs thanks to Banker? If your original Undie gets silenced you have another one. Late in the game it is safe to assume they have already used all of their silence effects on your other good deathrattle cards like Mechano Egg etc. And the Undatakah gets the deathrattle effect anyway.
Since you include the Banker, why not run Shirvalla as well? You need healing anyway, it is a good card and synergizes well with your plan and grants you another wincondition with Holy Wrath. It is a more reliable way to win against faster aggro and midrange decks where a sudden burst of dmg most likely wins you the game since aggro burns you down fast. That is if you can pull of that combo in time before you get killed.

So what you need is support to get to the lategame plan=card draw and survival. Paladin has some excelent boardclears but thanks to the Equality nerf you've lost a lot of cheap and strong AoE. Carddraw is often a problem but you do have some nice things in Prismatic lens, Crystology, Hammer, Acolytes and such. Plus paladin has some great healing with Lay on hands, Nozari, debuffs of big minions, double healing with Kangor etc.

Here is the deck as I've put it together currently:

    Highlander
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (16) Ability (13) Weapon (1)
    Loading Collection

I have two problems with it. First I really really like the idea of the deck and I would like to try it, but I do not have all the cards. I do have enough dust to craft all the cards i need but it is a heavy investement that might not pay off. Second is that I'm not so sure about the concept as a whole to wrk since it is a pretty slow deck and Highlander Pali never really took off and I would like to hear some constructive criticism on the deck or experience you guys had with it or similar decks.
There are also some possibilities of different/more winconditions like Hakkar and Elysiana, perhaps going the dragon route since you include Nozari that will sit in your hand for quite some time, some pali dragon cards are good. Maybe it could do with more support cards like more AoE, more removal, more survivability or perhaps the quest route. Reborn cards are decent enough to be included.

posted a message on Luna's Pocket Galaxy issues

Lich King once said: How did that get past QA?!

Five mana to discount all your synergic and powerful minions in your deck and then draw them for low cost. And people complain about Warriors...
The real issue is how well together it goes. Would it be a big deal for aggro deck to have a 1 cost minions? not really. Once they play all their things they run out of resources and are in topdeck mode which leaves enough room for the oponnent to stabilize. But drawing one mana giant and making it into possibly full board of 7/8 and 8/8 is simply ridiculous. Luna should be nerfed with either cost to the spell or cost to the minions. And nerf Conjurer's as well.

Edit: Or make Luna's set the mana to 1, not reduce to 1. That way you wouldn't Conjurer's 12 mana minions you played for 1 mana. That would properly separate Conjurer's/Dragon mage from Big Mage as well.

This game and matchmaking is bullshit. I didn't face a single mage until now and suddenly four in a row. FOUR!!! And it was a pretty close matches as well, it mostly came down to not drawing bombs. Fuckin' milion bombs in their deck, they even draw like retards on 2 HP, still no punish...

posted a message on Make Aggro great again

I disagree. Like you mentioned some control decks run a certain wincondition that is in fact a combo. Old Handlock had PO+Leeroy+Faceless combo for 20 dmg and that was how they won most of the time. Was it a combo deck then? not really. Or old Control warrior with Grom and Alex, but this wincondition mostly applied to control matchups. Aggro was beaten by simply surviving and sticking minions on board that couldn't have been removed by the limited aggro resources (in ideal world things like spiderbomb and deadly shot would not exist for this reason).

HS is very limited game compared to say Magic which is more complex and skill based. Again it's because both have different design philosophy. Magic is "serious balls to the wall" card game while HS is casual. Naturaly the borders between deck types will be mudied as a result.

posted a message on Make Aggro great again

According to stats from HSmath, or somesuch YT chanel, can't remember the exact name, most people are control players. We have to realize that for the most part Combo decks are just control decks with more complex (or less, depends on how you look at it) wincondition up to a certain point. What would be more accurate is to simply deide the matchup into control and beatdown or agressor defender decks.

Most of aggro decks are not fun to play or fun to play against. Either they curve out or they lose. Since HS was designed to be a game you play for short amount of time it naturaly favors decks high on tempo. What brings high tempo? Qualitiy minions. What class has reoccuring quality minions? Hunter. Not a coincidence. And not a coincidence Hunter is top metadeck again (most played according to HStats).

I think aggro does not need to be made great again, we have enough aggresively minded decks out there already. What we need is less polarizing matchups.

posted a message on What has been your favourite expansion thus far?

For me it was definitely Un'Goro. It was so well designed artwork wise, so colorfoul and fun, many great cards that are a staple to this day like Stonehill defender or Tar Creeper. Quests were great but sadly only two saw any realistic play which is soo little. And then probably Whispers. Great new mechanic with C'Thun, first time standard was introduced, big milestone in HS history.

This game is sooo fucking frustrating. I can't to find a decent deck that would do fine. Nothing seems to work. Hunter is supposed to be good iwth its bullshit DK and strong early curve. Nope, I draw shit. So I play Even lock. Get matched with Hunters who curve out really strong and then get ridiculous zombeasts... So I play Control priest. Gues what, draw Velen and maligos on turn one and turn two with no aoe. Always stuck with useless cards, even if i muligan right. Feels like I'm the unluckiest player alive... Fun decks are out of meta or get killed by Hunter, HUNTER  is again king of the hill AGAIN!!! I can't wait for the new expansion.
