No Cards Left vs Mech Mage

    Alex in hand. Gorehowl equipped.

    Play Alex

Hit Mech with Gorehowl and go to 13.

Lose game next turn by 1 point.

    WHY DID I DO THAT?

posted a message on The headed for Legend support group thread [January 2015 Season]

I still have plans to make the push this month, I just need to actually play the dang game. I've had some anxiety problems as of late (Which I still cannot find the root cause of) so I keep having these mini-anxiety moments when I go to click "Play" on ranked, even though I'm fairly confident in my playing abilities. (So typically I seem to end up playing casual all night instead)

Hoping to break out of that tonight and just play..and play..and play. I'm busting out the deck tracker, the white board, and the mental fortitude.

    I WANNA DO EET.

posted a message on "Play Around" and Odds

I was curious if there are any sort of "Same Card" statistics out there, mainly as a "What the heck were the odds?" sort of deal in relation to Arena.

Yesterday I played a Paladin that managed to pull FOUR (Count em!), FOUR Consecrations! While he didn't utilize them particularly effectively and I ended up winning, I'm still curious if there are any sort of compiled stats out there for what the theoretical odds are to pulling 4 of the same class common. (Or if it being a class common is even relevant, which I suspect it's not).

Since you're granted 2 Rares/Epics/Legendaries at a minimum (First and last) is it just as simple as 1/28 ^ 4? Or is there more to it?

The only reason I bring this up is that after the 2nd one it's really impossible to continue to play the game while "Playing Around" this card in my mind...You can't always assume an opponent is going to whip out yet another AoE sweep-ish card throughout an arena run..but having at least the mental stats to go "GOOD LORD! HE ONLY HAD A _% CHANCE TO DRAFT LIKE THAT!" would make me feel a bit better.

posted a message on Tips how to beat Ramp druid

    "Don't play control warrior"

That sounds kind of negative, but druids put out bigger minions, get more favorable trades, and generally just..win..the matchup. If you look at popular ramp druid vs warrior statistics, some numbers have been 80-90% in favor of Ramp Druid. I'd say to win, you're just going to need to smash his face faster then he can obtain board control (Which is so..so hard for Warrior)

At the end of the day when climbing, you hedge your bets..You're operating under the assumption that the deck you are running is going to run into more favorable matchups than not.

posted a message on Midrange or Tempo? What is it?

When I think "Tempo" I think "Aggro Control"..The idea is to play cards that continue to help you snowball to victory.

An example "Tempo" scheme for mage would be something like

    T1: Mana Wyrm
    T2: Frostbolt
    T3: Mana Wyrm, Ice Lance
    T4: Fireball

The idea is to put on pressure and be able to answer counter pressure with your hand. Tempo usually involves dumping your hand and having some sort of way to refill it afterwards. Another good term for Tempo would be "Snowballing"...Creating a situation powerful and awkward so your opponent cannot answer, but also having options to keep the board under your firm control while doing damage (Bolts/Lances could be aimed at board threats)

Midrange on the other hand is sort of "Preparing for Liftoff". You stall out the board, but you play high value cards that don't quite breach the upper echelons of cost. Shaman performs Midrange best...high value drops like Fire Elemental, Earth Elemental, Lava Burst, and Doomhammer come out early, hit hard, and create a difficult board state for your opponent.

While "control" relects more of a style of "Play until you can drop the big guys", Midrange says "Get your big guys out, get them out quickly, and have options to keep pressure going"...Cards like Crackle and Hex can help clear the way to your big guys to get in and do work.

Some might disagree of course, but that is my interpretation of those phrases!

    Quote from LuizJesus147 »

I know that I may get some salt for saying this, but, however, I think this might be "right": make a cheap deck - zoo or hunter - and I think that naxx comes first in the "must buy" section because of Sludge, Loatheb and Undertaker since they are really important and you will get them for sure if buy the wing. Doing that you can climb the ladder while putting some gold in the pocket and with that you do arena - if you are good at it, if yo are not, try to learn and fast, because is kind of needed - and buy some normal packs in between arenas.

True, but there isn't any real "need" to climb the ladder to claim said gold. You're not getting any additional bonuses from ladder besides a cool number in the upper right. You can do the exact same thing in casual.

That being said it isn't an awful idea to build a "functional" deck to assist in gold farming before you actually have cards that matter. Zoolock/Facehunter will win games and earn gold in a fairly consistent manner

posted a message on Does Casual encourage "bad habits"?

My attitude outside of casual has turned into "10s before you do anything." - Give yourself 10s to just stare at your cards and the board before you go to make any play. I had a stupid, non punished Misplay yesterday in Arena where I could have dropped a Flesheating Ghoul before I used the resulting imps from an Imp-losion to remove a 3 power creature. Instead I just smashed Imps into the creature and went "DERP!"

Giving yourself time is what makes the difference between sloppy play and on point decisions.

posted a message on When do you concede?

Casual - As soon as things start to go wrong..I'm usually playing something silly/casual in..casual..anyways just doing some dailies.

Ranked - When my opponent shows lethal typically. Sometimes I make them execute it, but I typically find it to be a waste of time to wait for everything to complete, especially when they spend a good chunk of time doing a bunch of other nonsense on turn to resolve lethal. When I say nonsense, IDC if you throw down your hand or something, but when you act like you're THINKING about it excessively. Meh.

Arena - Never, people do some stupid stuff in Arena.

posted a message on starting to feel reaching legend is more a test of sanity then skill

Something that I'm working on in general is not paying attention to anything but the game at hand, recording the result, analyzing the game, and then moving on.

    Don't look at rank.
Don't look at bad beats. (Unless you're seeing a pattern like "I am always losing to Zoo and I continue to face Zoo.")
Don't look at BM (If I even see a HINT of it, I squelch)

I still went rage mode tonight and didn't even realize..I had planned on grind for hours and then I had to stop because I was mad a shaman taunt totemed when I had lethal (I still had lethal) then when I looked back as I queued I was like "Nope. If I lose I'm just going to slam my fist into the table."

Not only do you need to focus on playing correctly vs the decks in the meta, but the further you get away from the "Meta Numbers" (Meaning Rank, Win Rate, Etc.) the better off you'll feel and play. As long as your confident your deck will reach legend and have the time to put into getting it there..it'll happen. One day :)

posted a message on JUST HOW DO YOU BEAT MECH MAGE????
    Quote from Razoir »

I don't know why everybody want to beats every other deck with only one of them @_@

It's as if you would like to beat paper with stone in rock-paper-scissors... It's just plain stupid.

Control is bad against aggro. And your deck is a "control warrior", what do you expect ? To be able to put up a 90% win rate against them ?

Bu..but..if my deck isn't winning it's losing! LOSING! There has to be a way to fix it!

    *Sigh*

You have to compromise other parts of the deck in an effort to make a matchup better. You make other matchups worse as a result. If you think your deck isn't working in the current meta, you need to edit or change it up!

posted a message on Improvements for my Warlock Deck

So to me, this deck feels like "Zoo" with a demonic twist. You're trying to flood the board and get amazing Voidcaller drops post clear, with your targets being Mal'Ganis, Dread Infernal, and Doomguard

One card that I'm struggling with is Annoy-o-Tron as he doesn't really fit. He doesn't trigger Undertaker, he isn't a good Voidcaller target..all he does is sit there and taunt. In slot 2, I'd much rather have a second Darkbomb. I feel like he is great if you have mech synergy, but a very poor card if he is just out there on his own.

I think if we're fitting with a "Zoo" theme, Power Overwhelming would do very well. It can trigger Voidcaller, Nerubian Egg and create an amazing Void Terror at the same time (Who says you have to let it die to PO? :)). Siphon Soul seems very slow for this deck. On Turn 6 if you're not winning already, it's not a spell that will swing the game in your favor like it would in HandLock.

One of my biggest problems with Hellfire is that his has the potential to generally ruin your own board position in situations where you absolutely have to utilize it. Leper Gnome, Voidwalker, Clockwork Gnome, Harvest Golem and an unprepared Undertaker all perish to this card and are your early game board presence. Voidcaller also does NOT perish to this card on it's own. It has it's uses, but my personal look is to cut it to 1.

Here is what I came up with after the explaining!

    Superpan Suggestion (Failstar Edit)
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (23) Ability (7)
    Loading Collection

Just my ideas and thoughts, hope the help. Enjoy and Good Luck! :)
