posted a message on 1~2 card reveals a day, seriously?

Frankly, I wouldn't mind if they didn't announce any cards at all and simply let us discover them on launch day. I get the need to build hype but there's something to be said for a little secrecy, and it'd be kinda cool besides to see the meta squirm and accommodate all that in the days just after a release.

    Quote from Nuba >>

if a card that comes into play, clears the whole fucking board, and leaves a 12/12 behind doesnt see play just because it is a 10 mana one, why on earth do you guys think a 10 mana dude that does literally nothing is "very good"?????

Well, your tempo doesn't completely grind to a halt with the Dragonlord, for one. For another, your own board state isn't negatively impacted beyond the 10 mana card. For a third, it doesn't "do literally nothing," it has quite a deathrattle there. Granted, it can be silenced, but every card has some drawback.

Depends on if you intend to play Standard or Wild. Naxx is fun on its own, but if you want to play Standard mode then the cards you get out of it won't be terribly useful. At that point it's up to you to decide whether the fun of the wing is sufficient to justify the cost.

posted a message on New Hunter Card - Call of the Wild
How do people hate so much on Blood Warriors (read the thread) but then find so much love for this card.

pay 8 mana for all 3 animal companions?

you really want a bunch of sub 4 hp minions on the board on turn 8? Really?

This is supposed to contest his lategame drops iE Ysera, Cthun, Ragnaros, Nzoth?, and youre getting 3 animal companions for 8?#

I mean, its not bad by any means, but its not as great as peopel put it.

The difference is that you can't get rid of this card with one Shadow Word: Death. There are plenty of moments where you might benefit from a more distributed board over a single big creature, especially given that Call of the Wild also gives you a taunt, a buff, and a charge minion. So you get protection into the next turn, five burst damage, and a one attack buff for all minions: there's utility enough in there to play it over Rag or Ysera, and unlike those cards, you can play two of this one.

So my dragon priest cues up against a rogue, and the game is going alright. It gets toward the end and my health is low, so I drop Chillmaw and buff it with Power Word: Shield, which makes it strong enough to weather the board and clear it for my next turn.

The rogue uses Fan of Knives to drop my dragon's health lower... and topdecks a fucking Sap. Losing due to a "return to hand" effect is the worst, like my minion just gave up.

If there's one thing I hate worse than face hunter, it's a face hunter who ends the game with a "well played" emote. It's like, oh yeah? You're gonna play face and then attempt to sit there at the end of the game in intellectual rigor, like we both just experienced a carefully considered, thought out game? Just gonna pretend that you didn't just ignore the game entirely in favor of spamming my face, and now you're expecting me to do the same?

If you had any actual interest in fair play and sportsmanship you wouldn't be playing fucking face hunter to begin with, don't try and pretend you care about anything more than just winning over and over no matter what after the fact, you prick.

"Oh hey, I can totally still come back and win this game if I play Confessor Paletress and Inspire out even an average minion... Oh, Bolvar again..."

Paletress has such a fun effect, but like half the time I just get Bolvar or Eydis, or a weird recent streak of Gazlowe's in multiple games. Never anything substantial when I need it.

    Quote from Ilikemoba >>

This card is really bad. Why would you ever want a deck with only legendaries? The 6/6 taunt is nice though but the effect sucks.

I think, implicitly, the golden monkey is a late game card that essentially turns the entirety of your end game into a blunt force Control Warrior end game. You're not going to draw the legendary, then the spell, and then the monkey in the first five or so turns of the game, so when you get your deck full of legendaries you'll most likely have the mana to play them as you need, too. It's still extremely slow, but maybe there's a draw based deck to take advantage of it. Consider drawing Varian, knowing your deck will have nothing but playable cards from his battlecry... and you can no doubt get multiple Varians in the same deck.
I'm not saying Elise is good, but I don't necessarily think it's instantly sucky either.

posted a message on This Brawl is too difficult!

I liked this brawl, but I'm a tad pissed at a consistent glitch I've been experiencing in it, where whenever I play my Arcane Golems, their effects ping and then they just... vanish. The card's still on the board, I just can't select it to do anything. It's so much worse in a brawl like this than in any previous brawl because I have another player depending on me and from their perspective no doubt it looks like I've just played a charge minion and then proceeded to do nothing with it, ever.

I can handle losing games that are fair. But losing games because the game itself fucks up? In Arena? That's too fucking much.

I start a new arena run, play my first game, and it screws up: says I resumed after a disconnect except it plonks me down on my opponent's turn where there's no time limit and my opponent clearly isn't there. Game won't let me concede, only quit, whereupon I find that my internet is working fine, so it's the game. Fine, I stop playing for a bit and go do something else.

When I come back, I play my second game. It works up until we reach a crucial point where I can play a Reckless Rocketeer to remove the opponent's taunt and commit the rest of my guys to face damage. The Rocketeer hits the board... and promptly stops being interactable. It's still there in all the ways that negatively impact me- it still counts as a minion, still takes up a slot on the board and costed mana- but it's functionally gone in all the ways that could positively affect me- I can't fucking attack with it.

    Unbelievable.

Playing a Face Hunter, I'm packing enough fireballs to deal lethal next turn, but am comfortably out of reach of the same on his turn. Hunter unleashes the hounds to clear his hand and then fires off the quick shot, but I'm okay, I have 12 health and he can only deal 9 damage. I'm safe. It's cool.

Fucker topdecks an Eaglehorn Bow from the quick shot. FFFFFFF-

posted a message on Does Ben Brode know what he's doing?
    Quote from Aqec32 >>

To all of those who buy the design space argument I want to ask one question: Try to imagine a non existing card that when combined with not nerfed Warsong would be broken (other than Patron, Berserker and Dreadsteed or course). I think this argument is reasonnable but I will accept it only when I see a card that abuses the Warsong current mechanic.

It's not just about single cards though, is it? It's about card combinations: Patron Warrior uses several cards in a way that makes it broken, not just the Grim Patron or Frothing in isolation. With a pre-nerf Warsong the designers can't ever make a 3 or less attack minion with an interesting effect without wondering how it'll interact with Warsong and a suite of other cards. Small, replicating minions of any type run an incredible risk of becoming the next Patron Warrior fodder, weaker Faceless Manipulators that copy other minions but lower their stats become likewise, as do any and all buff spells added to the Warrior set for fear of making any minion capable of gaining charge off of Warsong that much more effective. Same with Windfury. Or any small minion that might benefit from taking small amounts of damage. Or hell, even other cards that react to boards filled with charge minions.

The capability to imbue an entire board with charge echoes throughout the entire design space, often in ways it takes the player base a while to figure out; there's essentially a band of minion attack stats that cannot have certain abilities that would only be appropriate for that stat line (you wouldn't want a replicating minion with 6 attack, for example, because... jeez.)  Asking for just one card that would be broken in interaction with Warsong is missing the point: Patron Warrior isn't even broken because of one card, it's broken because of four or five working in concert.

posted a message on Upcoming Balance Change to Warsong Commander

I thought the point of nerfs was to bring a card or combo back down in line with the power curve of the game, not render an entire archetype unplayable? I'm happy that Patron Warrior is getting reduced, but this right here is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It's like if they tried to nerf Mysterious Challenger by adding the text "all secrets do nothing" to the bottom of the card. Reduce efficacy, don't fundamentally change the function of the card.

I run both, but I'd definitely recommend Antonidas first. Not as if fireballs don't synergize with Flamewakers too.
