How long did it take you to get to legend? I've been playing a bit for the last 2 days and got stuck at rank 7. Too many secret paladins. I always do a good job in the first 5 turns of efficiently answering/blanking their jugglers, avenge, shieldbot, muster, but there's no outplaying t6 challenger-> t7 boom. I'm still at the point where people make a lot of stupid misplays so it's really frustrating that I'm not advancing when my play is crisp but I keep getting unfavorable matchups and some bad draws.
I could just play something else, but I want the golden mage portrait and tempo is just my favorite style of play.
This version is vastly inferior to the traditional version without the LoE cards. Tempo mage is already RNG enough, this version makes it far more swingy and reliant on specific plays or rolls from Discover.
If you were playing mid range pally maybe all you've played is efficient decks that drop powerful creatures on curve with no thought.
Control is very different from that. You look for control and clears and chip damage rather than smashing face. You ahve to play it to get used to it unfortunately. Sounds like it'll make you in particular a better player though
I read a while ago that such cards make the game "unfun" or whatever the excuse was, but I think as the game expands and more decks surface, hand reveal cards and discards should become a thing. At least some gitaxian probe sort of thing where it cycles and you look at your opponents hand. 2 mana would be fair for that.
Tutors on the other hand may be hard to program efficiently or they're just not fair. Certainly even if there was a 5 mana tutor it would be a stupid buff to something like secret paladin that would get your challenger/boom/tirion on curve. Limiting the search to <x cost cards or a specific type might make it fair. Something like a druid class card that tutored for a beast would be a cool way to make that a more consistent and stronger deck.
I lost to some tempo mage kid with the mediv hero whilst doing my dailies in normal today. I got very unlucky with my card draw while he twice hid behind mirror entity which I of course had no good answer for. I gave up pretty fast after the 2nd mirror entity, to which this trash kid gave the "thanks" emote.
I finished my quest 10 minutes later, bought a TGT pack, and opened a golden varian wyrnn: http://imgur.com/EcAyF7J
Or you could just use your brain and instead of destroying stuff you could simply embrace and deal with it.
Yea because the answer to all cards with niche counterplay like mirror entity that completely stop your tempo via forcing you to play a bad creature or nothing at all is "deal with it". .. not sure if you're delusional or trolling.
To answer OP, secrets have very limited counterplay because Blizzard is an MMO company, not a card game company; they have very poor knowledge of how they work. If they were any good like WotC they'd have more cards like force of will that answer anything but at a cost. Sadly the only drawback cards we have are offensive things like pit lord.
I will curse always Ben Brode for this tragedy called tempo mage and it's cards.
Tempo mage is a tier 3 50% winrate deck wtf are you complaining about? There are a dozen decks faster, more unfair, less skill intensive, played by shittier people. What a bizzare thing to see in a rant thread.
I have a 50% winrate with this deck trying to level up my mage for golden cards to go with the golden antonidas I opened. Sucks that the only options for mage in this braindead meta are this tier 3 100% reliant on draw deck and a 30 min/game boring freeze mage decks.

@Proteen
legendary Priest minion 5 mana 4/6: Opponent's minions with battlecry or deathrattle cost (2) more
@Trolldar
legendary neutral minion 6 mana 7/7: Replace opponent's hero with Ragnaros (with 8 health and 8 armor hero power - deal 8 damage to a random enemy)
Idk any wow lore to find reasonable pictures/names for these characters.

a 5/4 for 3 mana seems pretty good... Why are people acting like this is so bad?
