posted a message on Legendary Rate is Abysmal

That was what I had my first 100 packs...then last month I started playing on the European server for fun since I never really played constructed much before I got a bunch of packs from arena and wanted to see what it was like with almost only basic cards trying to compete without being able to pick and choose my cards...got 3 legendary cards in my first 10 packs, had a 4th by 20 one of which was golden (I have never had a golden legendary on the north American server)

Considering there is still 5 hours until summer even officially starts, the only thing I have to say to you is have some patience. It will likely be another month at least until release.

Where exactly was summer starting in 5 hours 8 hours ago?

First day of summer (Northern Hemisphere) is 21st June this year, so it started some time in the last few hours anyways.

According to what? 99% of people worldwide think summer is at 1st of June so thats when summer starts. If you wanna talk scientifically in a card game your problem.

Looking up that reckoning of summer it is used in Austria, Denmark and the former Soviet Union. It is also used by many (but not all) in the United Kingdom. It is also a completely arbitrary system in that the beginning starting June 1 has no bases in anything other than it was the first of a month.

I never knew most of the world was so few people. Anyway, the actually more common shifted summer (shifted 1.5 months from the astrological beginning of summer in early may) that is based on temperature lag started today. This system is used at blizzard headquarters.

posted a message on Non random cards from packs?

I agree with ThyEmptyLord, I have opened 12 legendaries from packs, several times saving up 15+ packs before opening them at once and have had 0 duplicate legendaries so far.

posted a message on Possible Naxx Pricing Structure Leak

I find the pricing here unlikely. Though that said since I started saving gold when naxx was first announced (which was unfortunately after I had just spent all the gold I had save up buying 36 packs) I am sitting pretty good at 4k gold from just dailies as that is all I have had time to play.

I do stuff like this often only because of quests, stuff like deal 100 damage, play 40 minions that cost 2 or less, play 20 minions that cost 5 or more in particular, every card matters. Some people I think are just trying to show you that no matter what you did you would have lost, or show you their last few awesome cards. I know I also get mad when people concede when I'm trying to do these quests because I try to limit the amount of hearthstone I play to doing dailies, which I only do in play mode, and 1 arena run a day, so I don't get too sucked in while helping my wife with our newborn, so having to play all those extra games can consume alot of extra time. But its also pretty easy to tell when your opponent is on a quest or just being a show off.

If time is a concern you should try to only do dailies when you have 3 saved up, often you can do 2 or all 3 at once in the time it would take to do 1.

posted a message on Your most epic comeback?

My most memorable comeback was playing warrior in arena vs a druid who had a better starting hand.  He kept attacking my face and letting me pick the trades but I started poorly and by the time I managed to clear the board I had 1 hp + 2 armor and fully expected to lost to a druid spell the next turn while he was at 30 health 8 armor and like 5 cards in hand. For the next couple Turns I build up a little more armor as he hit me with his hero power and kept trading creatures to prevent him from getting any on the board and got a shield block to get me out of the range of a direct damage spell.  The fight went on long enough that when he conceded I had 1 health 15 armor.

posted a message on Joke Warlock deck or maybe not.

A couple weeks ago I was watching some hearthstone streams and the streamer was drafting an arena deck and repeated comments about how bad ancient watcher was and how maybe it had a place in constructed but it is terrible in arena.  That got me thinking about what kind of deck could reliably use this card. As I starting working on it in theory I finally decided the best class for activating the ancient watcher would be warlock using another card said streamer hated, the void terror.

I made the first version of the deck expecting it to do very poorly and played a few game with surprising success.  I have been modifying it bit by bit as I identify weaknesses but have been playing it exclusively since the reset when I play ranked to see if it will make it to rank 1 (I was playing it with pretty good success at 3 star masters before) and had like 75% win rate today. More importantly, this deck is hilariously fun to play.

The deck is designed around certain moves.  First, activating the ancient watcher can be done with the 4 silences, the 2 void terrors or defensively with the 2 defender of argus or just use it to shadowflame for 4. Secondly, since I had void terrors in the deck I added more synergy, such as power overwhelming (can use it to trade up and then consume the creature with the void terror before it dies) as well as sylvanas (opponent plays a big creature, you play sylvanas+void terror to create an 8/8 and mind control their creature all for 8 mana. I added Cairne recently for more deathrattle for either for shadowflame, power overwhelming or void terrors.  Combined with buffing card draw minions to trade up for free and Jaraxxus for late game dominance or emergency second life depending on the match and you have a very fun deck that will amaze you every time it manages to win.

posted a message on Can someone please clarify on wipe?

Blizzard never said they would do an "end of beta" wipe.  In fact they repeatedly said they there would NOT be an end of beta wipe. They were careful and explicit about it. They also said multiple times around the time of the wipe they they expected that to be the only wipe except for unforeseen circumstances.

Other people have somehow been fed misinformation (not sure where from, Blizzard's posts were so clear they couldn't have been misunderstood) and repeated that and you seem to have heard from them, but Blizzard has only stated that that expected there to only to be the one wipe and that is over with.

posted a message on Question about Arena Awards

The 5 win number doesn't count the dust though, that is just the number to get ~50g back. When considering the value of dust making specific cards you break even at more like 3 wins.

I have no problems with Priests in Arena. Mages and Pallies seem strongest there.

I agree, I see priests and I say free win! Specially with shaman, I had a 11 game winning streak vs priests with Thrall. I think I have the highest win rate vs priest over all the other classes. Once you figure out the priests weaknesses they are easy to beat.

posted a message on Coin + Felguard

Coin doesn't give a mana crystral, it just gives you an extra mana for that turn.  Your mana says 3/2 if you coin on turn 2 for 3 mana available out of 2 mana crystals.

posted a message on Anyone else having trouble against priest in arena?

Mind control is ok, but only if you are depending on a single big creature to beat a priest.  My win rate against priest in arena is 77%, with most of the losses from the classes I rarely play. You just need to know which cards to counter and what to expect (e.g. Never play a big creature unless you can kill it efficiently the next turn). If you are losing and have to play the big creature to stay alive then you already lost in the early game. At that point it wasn't mind control that won the game, that just sealed the game after you already lost it earlier. If you play for board advantage against a priest and don't play anything you can't deal with they have a dead card that uses their entire turn only for you to counter it and keep killing them. If you don't play for board advantage (without doing dumb things like playing a bunch of 3 attack creatures for shadow madness) you are playing very risky, they are one of the worst classes to try to rush and lose card efficiency by letting them pick the trades with their heal and power word: shields. If you just force even trades priests will lose most of the time, their class cards aren't very good (compared to other classes) in that situation and they will start to lose trades and the heal is useless if you kill everything they play. Just drain them of cards and once they are out THEN you attack them. Which also means multi-card combo to buff a creature really big is the worst thing you can do against a priest.  A shadow word death or mind control and you lose multiple cards for their one. You want to spread the buffs out. Priest can't deal with very many medium sized creatures but they are good against a single huge one.

Oddly enough, my win rate against priest is the highest with priest at 88% :) I play the priest class the most in ranked so I know how to play against it, there are a lot of weaknesses if you know how to exploit them and make all their best spells and hero power bad.
