Boss Overview
Zinaar is the first boss in the Temple of Orsis wing of the The League of Explorers adventure.
Zinaar's Hero Power is Djinn’s Intuition (Heroic). He can draw an extra card each turn, but in return, you're going to get a Wish. All of the possible wishes can be found below.
- Wish: Wish for Power
- Wish: Wish for Valor
- Wish: Wish for Glory
- Wish: Wish for More Wishes
- Wish: Wish for Companionship
Pro Tips and Strategy
- You can hold onto your Wish cards to build them up, to later unleash them with Flamewaker, or just use them to help round out your deck.
- Alternatively, survive until he runs out of cards (draws 2 per turn) and watch him take Fatigue.

I found Heroic Zinaar to be a massive pain. I don't know if his AI is just smarter in 2018, but I found every mage deck list I found on a plethora of sites to be too slow. As a newer player (I started in August after the release of Boomsday) I had found the normal Adventures to be really fun and decided to try and get the LoE cardback. (How can you say no to an electric bird?) Heroic Zinaar was the biggest roadblock so far, but this list is what I ran with today when I won. It should be noted that I didn't actually finish him with Embrace the Shadow or an oversized Deathlord, despite discovering Divine Spirit and Spirit Singer Umbra. The addition of either of those cards may have made this easier. As a newbie to wild, I am sharing this as a starting point. All decks require some luck to beat Zinaar and this is no exception. This is also heavily costed in Dust. A Mind Blast priest deck might be more consistent, but after 47 tries, this was my success deck.

This worked first try, thanks for the deck list. Saving grace was finding a Deathwing and dumping a real good hand. But what good is a hand if you're dead.
Thanks for this version! was able to beat heroic zinaar after only 2 tries :)
Thanks for the cool idea for a mill deck! Worked like a charm thanks to some less than perfect AI
Thx! 2 or 3 tries and gg!
If you play animated armor its an automatic win since he always goes face,. Just take down any minions that has a 50% chance of attacking the wrong enemy. Play as mage and load your self with duplicate for that animated armor and freeze spells. An
This comment is either a troll or they fixed the AI since the post. I'm a newer player that just got the LOE adventure, tried this strat, and he killed animated armor almost immediately with his minions. He aggressively trades, so I wouldn't count on cheesing it with animated armor.
However, I just made a low cost tempo mage deck and threw 2 animated armors into it, so I still won anyways due to the rest of the deck being good against him. Just make sure you have lots of 1 and 2 drop creatures, cheap removal, and some board clears (2 arcane explosions, 2 twilight flamecallers, 2 flamestrikes). Long as you keep up with him for the first 5-6 turns, he will run out of resources eventually. NEVER go face until you run him out of cards, just keep trading so you dont get overrun on board.
You dont want expensive creatures (nothing over 4, imo) in your deck, because you can get some off the wish cards he gives you that lets you discover some for later. You just need to keep up with him when he vomits his hand onto the board due to his mana ramp.
This guy is so smart; he silenced my 1/2 taunt instead of Sneed's Old Shredder.
Heroic was the easiest so far...
I didn't even look up for other decks... Beat all of them with less than 5 tries. (That's good because I want that Staff card back...)
I'm enjoying this boss...
On the last turn, I had 3 copies of Sludge Belcher (without KT, and all with at least +4/+4), Baron Rivendare (again, not in my deck), a 22/4 giant, and a full hand. He was at 1 health and going on 6 fatigue on his next turn.
On another note, I'm really enjoying the discover mechanic: while it's RNG based, you have to think out each play, and allows you to adapt your strategy on the fly. It's also nice for new players, because they get to play with cards that they otherwise wouldn't have been able to play with (for instance, I chose to buy the first wing of LOE rather than the third wing of Naxx, so I wouldn't have been able to play with Baron Rivendare without Wish for Valor).
This boss was a joke indeed..
Just opened the first wing of the League of Explorers adventure, and met the djinn Zinaar. I took my existing Goblin Blastmage andFlamewaker deck, added the Forgotten Torch (which you receive upon opening the adventure), and took down Zinaar at no loss of hero points. I admit I was a bit lucky, but I think this is very reproducible.
I found this guy too easy... Wishes and Mana Wyrm's are like peanut butter and jelly lol
Don't have Mana Wyrm in my Goblin Blastmage deck, but yep, that would be lethal PB&J to Zinaar.
If anyone is having trouble with the heroic boss, I beat it first try with a mage spell deck(but I did draw a fireball for exact lethal). You need good start with mirror images, mana wyrms and flame wakers- the synergy with the O mana spells is too real!
If his hero power is zero cost, then it's probably auto-cast, meaning he's drawing two every turn. Milling him may be possible, depending on what the heck the "Wish" cards are.
