I actually got a closed beta key yesterday. Haven't played yet because I've been too busy haha, and the open beta opens up tomorrow anyways.
Is it finally gonna be the game that brings Hearthstone all the way down? Kappa. I know that's basically impossible to do, even though lots of people seem to think every game is going to destroy Hearthstone lol.
Just wondering if anyone is actually going to make a full time switch once the open beta comes out, or once the game is officially released (whenever that may be).

Sorry, didn't mean I was giving up the closed beta key haha. It opens up tomorrow anyways to the public. I might play a bit tonight. I used to play Magic way back in the day. I tried again recently with some decks me and my friends had (found our old cards from like 8 years ago). It's just crazy how broken some things are in Magic. They are way more broken in Magic than in Hearthstone haha, although I guess there are the right tech cards in Magic all the time. I just didn't have those haha.
If I find that there are the same broken cards (as I'm sure they will be), I'll probably remain true to Hearthstone. I guess I'll see though.

Yeah, I'm basically counting hours here. :D Got my closed beta key in February so I've had quite some time to play it already. I played some Magic at the late 90's but have barely touched the game after that. It's a great game while having its downsides as well, mana system being the biggest one for me personally along with the amount of red aggro in constructed. Comparing to HS, I can't really say which one is better. I've been playing both and most likely continue to do so.
I don't think it's gonna have that much effect on Hearthstone's popularity. I think people are much more hyped about Artifact in general. The only bigger HS streamer I've seen playing MtGA so far has been Amaz and his viewer count has been much lower whenever he's played it.
Prepare for a fairly steep learning curve compared to Hearthstone. Each turn has 9 phases, you can do things on your opponent's turn, creatures can do things besides just simply attack, the "stack" takes a while for some to really understand... but it's a wonderful game once you get the hang of it!
I'm going to my 3rd Magic Grand Prix in just a few weeks, way excited for it!

Building Quirky Decks Every Week, Loving Life at Rank 15!
Yeah that's kinda my main issue. I used to play Magic like 8 years ago, dropped probably like $500 within a year, then gave it up haha (that's why I have no real problem spending only $150/year ish here =P). I don't want to have to worry about building up a collection. I know I'm good at card games. I just want to start with a competitive collection from the start lol.
Maybe MTG Arena will be somewhat generous in giveaways and I might be able to get a good, solid collection within a few months. I do appreciate how simple and smooth Hearthstone is though (compared to every other computer card game out there).

I have played many games today of MtG Arena (with my powerful and beautiful black and white vampire deck :P) and the mere fact of thinking about playing Hearthstone again gives me cancer. :(
I have played many games today of MtG Arena (with my powerful and beautiful black and white vampire deck :P) and the mere fact of thinking about playing Hearthstone again gives me cancer. :(
Playing some MTGA today got me thinking, there are so may mechanics in this game that have no comparison to mechanics in HS. I feel like there are so many more things they could draw from to increase strategy, etc, in HS that they have yet to try.
Example: There are many cards in MTG that you can pay a cost and tap a minion to do X effect. Something like this could be great for HS. Keyword could be something like "Tribute" with a mana cost following it.
"Tribute (x): Do effect"
Specifically, look at a card like Unpowered Steambot. Take this card and give it an effect like "Tribute (3): +2/-2" Sacrifice some health to power up it's attack.
Could be a very versatile keyword, such as: "Tribute (4): Gain taunt until your next turn, can't attack this turn" (Obviously not suggesting this for Steambot, but maybe a minion that has 3/9 in stats, or something.)
What I'm really trying to say is that playing MTGA has really opened my eyes to how limiting HS's style of play seems to be for the devs in terms of what cool and interesting keywords and abilities they can add. Or maybe they are choosing to not add keywords like this because they could be too complicated, or become too wordy?

I played the tutorial last night. Not sure what kinda decks I want to try out first. I always had fun with either black/red or blue/red decks back in the day. Green felt boring, I think I appreciated white a bit. Maybe I played white/green token human ish decks, but I have no idea if they were well built at all lol. I'll have to see what cards I end up getting and just build around that I suppose.

HS is simple and easy to play where MTG targets a far more mature audiance with far more complicated gameplay. Sure MTG will see an influx of HS players, but those wont last long. Soon most of those will be back into HS at full time. Back to known gameplay and collection.
Yeah well, MTG wasn't designed to be played while taking a shit by anyone capable of taking said shit. The fact that you think the influx of HS players will be returning is rich though. As if you are an expert. "Remember Gwent" Yeah I do. After we compare Gwent to MTG let's compare cottage cheese to chocolate milk. One is not the other. It'll be interesting to see the meltdowns next month when Artifact makes MTG look like child's play and takes over Hearthstone's spot as the top card game. I'm sure there will be much self reassurance as your favorite streamers gradually and drastically stop playing HS without a sponsorship in sight. "Well they will come back after the next expansion!" It better be a damn good expansion boys.

It's super generous. The rewards system for a game like this is amazing, but you have to check it for yourself dude. ;)

Well to be honest that doesnt say much as everything seems great when compared to hs. :P
Comparing to HS, I can't really say which one is better...
HS is but have conditions.
The weakest point in HS is the players can't act in opponent turn, making OTK, Combo and charge waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more dangerous and broken compared with other card games when you can, then Blizzard must have put severe restrictions in this kind of strategy or the game is ruined.
Combo/OTK must be insanely complicated and vulnerable to put it of, like Exodia Mage, anything easier and faster than that (looking at you Wild druid) destroy the game completely.
My problem with Magic is many games you win or lose only because you or your opponent don't draw lands enough or too much, HS don't have this kind of problem.

Hey there. I'm a beginner at Hearthstone but I'm pretty much interessed in the Beta key.
I used to play a lot the original TCG 10 years ago.

Oh, and the servers have been down since Monday so you can't play until the open beta comes online.
So excited about this... I can wait no longer!!!
:D :D :D
I'll give it a try just to see how different it is from Hearthstone (Didn't like TES cards).
