I'm probably one of the few that rock a wild renohunter deck with DK. Also just made a wild priest deck "Treasure hunt" with all of the explore team and the new one with the chest - its pretty fun.
The problem is that you will see large diversity of decks between ranks 13-25. This is where most players are. Below are just netdecks. What I mean is that as long as youre willing to stay at lower ranks youre fine but if so happen that your own deck will climb to rank 10. Then all of sudden you will start meeting only tier 1,2 decks and get crushed. No matter your deck had 70% WR up until rank 10. Now its time to lose.
I play meta decks in legend. I enjoy competitive play. I like to play in an environment where every decision matters and you actually have to think what you're playing. And meta decks are not less interesting than off-meta decks. If Razakus priest had 40% winrate, everybody would consider it a fun memey deck and wished more people played it. Popular decks are hated on only because they're popular.
Only ladder, about 50/50 between meta decks and unique decks. Generally I don’t play t1 decks though. They’re just so boring, so overpowered, (usually) so easy to play. I REALLY HATE the idea of playing poorly and winning anyway because the deck carries you, both for myself and for my opponents. I’ll play a fun t3 deck though, lately it’s been a lot of dragon priest for me. The decks good enough to win games and rank up but not so strong that it’s mindless so it’s a good balance, I would really recommend playing it!
I mostly like deck building and making new decks I havent tried in wild. So many options and fun games but I am limited by my wallet, all the fun cards are Epics you'll only ever use once. I used to aspire to get the legend card back but after getting to rank 3 I know that it is less fun to grind for hours facing the same decks over and over again. I refuse to play the top tier meta decks because I already know how they perform before I even try them. I do however LOVE when cards that are normally gimmicks and fun cards become very strong in the meta, an example is Hobgobin in Token druid. I normally preorder each expansion but do not spend any more after that. Hearthstone becomes very boring two months after each expansion and I always consider to stop paying for each expansion and move on but the cool wild combos with new cards always bring me back.
