For a while now I have been playing with the idea of using Holy Wrath as burn, I have not done any testing but I think it would be interesting playing two Holy Wrath's and many high mana creatures such as Molten Giant.
It is highly based on RNG but if you have 2 of each giant you have a 1/5 chance of using a 5 mana Pyroblast or perhaps more.
Furthermore I am not sure if Holy Wrath would do damage before or after a giants mana is discounted because of life total etc.
Does anyone know how that mechanic works? Also does anyone see any other possible synergies? There is also the issue of trying to balance out the heavy late game this deck would have to try to get value from Holy Wrath
It definitely uses the base cost of the card. However, this seems like a strategy that you'd want to use in a Ramp style deck (with lots of mana boosts and high mana cost cards) - something that Paladin isn't actually all that good at (though Guardian of Kings helps).
I thought of one deck that is surprisingly efficient. It's very unlikely that Holy Wrath hits for less than 4. 13 cards of 5 mana and +. 8 cards of 8 and +. You have to be sure that you slow down the board control the first few turn. If you are lucky enough, you can drop Alarm-o-bot the second turn.
2x Alarm-o-bot (play only on second turn or backed up by Redemption. This card is also a threat to be considered by the opponent. He will try to remove it, so, it's not that sad losing one, even 2.) 2x Redemption 2x Equality (prevent aggro and board control w/ hero's power) 2x Truesilver Champion (prevent board control and aggro) 2x Consecration 2x Hammer of Wrath 2x Defender of Argus 1x Leeroy Jenkins 2x Mogu'shan Warden 2x Holy Wrath 2x Argent commander 2x Sunwalker 1x Lay on Hands 1x Kel'Thuzad (never tried it, but I would) 1x Ragnaros 1x Alexstrasza (game saver or killer) 1x Ysera 1x Mountain Giant (replace Kel'Thuzad if needed) 2x Molten Giant
I don't have Avenging Wrath, but I'd try 2x instead of 2x Argent commander.
I've done it before. The deck is alright. I built it with a Paladin on the basis of reflecting damage. I can use Eye for an Eye so I could take some damage and deal some back. I played my deck about 5 times (each using Holy Wrath twice, because I always drew it for some reason). On the last time I finally managed to smack face for 20. The deck wasn't as fun as I hoped, so I scrapped it soon after, but hey, at least I get to show off! :D

If some sort of topdeck manipulation, a la MTG's Brainstorm, was "printed" in HS, Holy Wrath.dec could be a legitimate deck.
