Axe Flinger fills a big need for Warrior - direct face damage.
Taunts can stop a Warrior from finishing a match because the only direct damage they have that can hit the hero is Mortal Strike
I've been playing around with a midrange Warrior deck, and this card wins games. I may have won anyway, but it helped seal the deal faster.
I was playing against a Paladin and had brought him down to 6 health. I had a large board with both Axe Flingers and a Warsong Commander. He put out an Annoy-o-Tron withBlessing of Kings and a Shattered Sun Cleric. I'd have to throw almost all of my board at that Divine Shielded 6/7 taunt.Instead, I lucked into drawing an Unstable Ghoul - played it, ran it into the shield (Axe Flingers deal 4 damage) then hit it again with one of the Axe Flingers.
Between Axe Flinger and Grim Patron, Blizzard really opened the door for a viable new Warrior archetype that doesn't require a bunch of Legendaries.
So I playtested a bit Grim Patron just now. I never really was into warrior but the Patron deck looked fun and it indeed was. I played Flinger in it and honestly, I never actually wanted to play him. 2 attack is just not really enough and even if I have warsong commando, into deaths bite DR, into whirlwind, that's 6 damage. That's just not enough. Maybe in something a bit slower but than it's the 2 attack that cripples it. In something mid rangy I would rather play a shredder. So I'm not convinced yet.
My deck is actually working quite well, I keep tweaking it after like every game, still not sure if emperor fits, or if I want to add Dr. (every deck) Boom, or a rampage or warbot. You can see my latest changes if you check the deck link, I haven't even tested it with the elites yet.
